Duchy of Gwynllan

The Duchy of Gwynllan is defined by two things. Good wine, and intrigue between House Gorisonad and House Fremiss-Angharad.

Government

In theory this is a normal Swynfaredian ducal state, answerable to Queen of Swynfaredia but in practice the duchess finds herself politically blocked by a coalition of her own vassals.

Industry & Trade

The realm grows enough food to feed it's population. It has more than enough timberland to meet local fuel and buidling needs.
The region's main source of wealth is cash crops. The region grows some cultivatable reagents and spices and teas but primarily wine and olives.

Districts

The realm is administratively split into five counties.
Gorisonad holds the ducal county seat. Two of the counties are controlled by House Fremiss-Angharad, House Selwyth, and House Fremiss-Bryallan.

Guilds and Factions

In general, House Gorisonad and Aerona ap Fremiss-Angharad, but they are rivals locally.
Effectively it is the Duchess and her House Selwyth vassal paired against his Fremiss vassals with the House Fremiss-Bryallan acting as a sort of swing.

"I'm no student of history, but I apprenticed in Gwynllan, so I heard the stories. The duchy didn't start out divided but it happened within a few years of the duchies founding.
It's still a subject of debate if the rivalry happened because the original Duke was an undiplomatic asshole or because House Numaness manipulated things behind the scenes. Probably both."

A mix of forests and farmland, hills and plains.

Climate

Temperate, leaning towards warm and wet.

Natural Resources

The realm has good soil and ample fresh water.
