An Eastern continent where magic works differently, built around rituals and deals with supernatural beings (particularly spirits). Samurai and ninjas abound, and several clans act as the main political powers, forming parts of a central empire. The ethereal plane and other such planes work differently here, typically being more accessible but also more dangerous. Racism against nonhumans and “spiritfolk” is used as a unifying/dividing rhetoric point.
In early 23 ARL, the eunuch advisors to the emperor were introduced to the power of Corruption and began to go rogue, claiming more and more power for themselves. Simultaneously, if not necessarily as a consequence, the barrier between the material plane and the realms of the dead and the demons began to thin, leading to invasions of undead and demonic hordes. In September of that year, the Shadows of Existence came to aid the Black Samurai and his army in destroying the Corruption and restoring order and peace to the empire. They recovered the Emerald Lantern from the Chasm of the Lost, destroying the Rift at the bottom of the chasm in the process, and the Black Samurai's partner was able to use it to reinforce the barrier between worlds at the cost of her life. The corrupted eunuchs were killed by their own slave apprentice and the embodiment of Corruption that had taken an interest in him, and then the embodiment of Corruption was destroyed by the Shadows of Existence and divine intervention along with a large chunk of the empire capital.
