2022/03/23: Travel Northward Report
General Summary

Party has chosen to go for the Chasm of the Lost. They divide up treasure, rest for the night, and then embark the next day.
During first day of travel around the west side of Shisui by boat, saw enormous ball of fire/light coming from near middle of the continent. Apparently ridiculously powerful offensive spell, almost a false sun. Source, target, and true effect unknown.
During second day of travel, found wrecked ship run aground on a shoal. Partially melted and torn up. Very heavily armored, full of machinery. Only one apparent crew member, and she was critically wounded and unconscious, impaled on a pipe, though there was no blood and her innards looked like flashing lights. There were 6 Gigeresque amorphous abominations that attacked us. They were some sort of ethereal draining monsters, so they gave a 50% miss chance and would drop your health by 20% if you made the save to resist the hit. The damage couldn’t be healed until a remove curse with sufficient power behind it was used.
On the third day, as we were nearing port, a boat coming out from the port spontaneously exploded in blue flame. While Ruby went to investigate, a narrow female creature slunk through a porthole in the lower decks. Buzz immobilized her.
Her name is Reela Su. She’s being hunted by evil assassins, and the explosion on the boat was an attempt by them to kill her. She’s very dodgy, so she managed to escape and then swim to our ship and slip in. The assassins have been hunting her for about 2 days, and they’ll probably be coming after us too since they don’t like foreigners. They were trying to kill her because she found out about something evil they were doing.
Assassins are the “Jade Phoenix”, one of the other factions looking for the Emerald Lamp. Their leader has a ghostflame wakizashi that Reela Su needs back. They have one supposed ninja. Bi-Li Ghostface is the scariest, has a big cleaver and phases through walls and walks slowly like a horror movie monster, but is dumb as a stump.
We’ve hired Reela as a local guide in exchange for giving her protection, revenge, and a bit of loot.
The Gar Catcher has been renamed to the Ship Happens. The party used illusions to get past the xenophobic port authorities and are now preparing to kick in the door of the assassin base.
