The planet of Renedge is a titanic disc world and a weapon of the gods. Controlled on its path by great powers and its own burgeoning sentience, it travels through its universe and collides with other worlds, tearing them asunder and collecting what remains.
The business end of Renedge and its most distinctive feature is the Edge of Renedge: a spinning accumulation of enormous amounts of matter and energy, concentrated into a bright circular ring a short distance from the outer circumference of the planet. This Edge pulverizes anything that comes into contact with it. However, worlds are vast, and those struck by Renedge are not fully annihilated. Their remnants smash into Renedge's rim and form new lands, with the survivors forming new civilizations or reforming the old. Generally, a world might leave behind a single continent's worth of landmass after collision, leaving possibly dozens of surviving civilizations stranded on the same land.
As a result of its long history and wandering travel, Renedge has collected people and places from a bewildering variety of worlds. Though most residents of Renedge will never see outside their own nation, let alone their own continent, powerful adventurers are known to travel by sea, magic, or sheer stubbornness to exotic lands of magic and adventure. And if even that breadth of opportunity is not enough, there is always the universe beyond...
