Lachland

A continent on Renedge distinguished by its many small gods.   Where most continents have great and powerful gods that rule over all things of a given type, Lachland's gods are many and local. A bay and a town may each have their own dedicated gods, each with their own limited range and domain. This smaller, focused scale means that interactions between mortals and the divine are common. Visitors to a town may happen across a local trickster god offering boons as reward for playing pranks, then be admonished by the harbor goddess who teaches protective spells to those who give her offerings.

History

The Company of Steel visited Lachland in 22 or early 23 ARL. They landed at the port town of Surnu. The port was mostly empty; talking to the locals revealed that the town's parent civilization was wrecked 27 years earlier by "the god of darkness" and is just recovering now.   The party visited the nearby Theldoan Caves to get ore the town's blacksmith needed in exchange for repairs.   Surnu is home to a weaver goddess named Magna. The port also has a goddess, who was kind enough to teach the party's spellcasters a powerful defensive spell named Harbor's Protection. A local trickster god gave boons to one of the party members after he played certain requested pranks within the town.   The party, joined by the vampire hunter Hope, quested to a nearby fort that had been taken over by the vampire lord Count Trevius and his undead forces. The party saved and freed the god of the fort, Kennic, who granted boons in return.   Further adventures introduced the fishy mermaid goddess Maroka and the traveler god Fahren. The party met a pair of Austrian rangers, Braun and Etsel, who live in a house in the woods and are aligned with the local adventurer guild. Our heroes learned that Count Trevius's girlfriend sought vengeance from her home in Castle Blackthorn, far to the east, where dracoliches roamed. The party considered hunting down an evil wizard god named Duranem.   Yet more adventuring introduced the pegasus knight Florandra (who had been turned into a swan), a warrior named Guardian (nickname "Guar"), and Guardian's parents, the Crimson Flame (an enormous and grumpy male dragon) and Arteth. The latter three lived in a mountain closer to the continent's center. More gods were met, including a little sun goddess named Tambien (nicknamed "Sunny") and a sealed evil god named The Hellfire King.
