Dhavians Species in Miand'Mésvéstell | World Anvil

Dhavians

General

Dhavians are considerd to be some of the most powerful entities in all of Alézun'Teran; primarily due to their mastery over the Strings of Sereoth and their fluency with the Voice of Urh. They have quite the reserved nature and rarely interact directly with others outside their social circles unless it is absolutly necessary. To a majority of Melathi they are part of the obscure and alien facets of Alézun'Teran. To most of the Nelathi, they are both respected and feared and even shunned to a slight degree, due to the past actions of a few of their numbers during the Great Sorrow.

Godlike Entities

Dhavians are those who most often comes to mind when one is asked about godlike entities, at least in Alézun'Teran. However, they themselves may be wary in responding to any questions regarding the moniker, due to a varied amount of reasons. The primary one being that they once embraced it too much, and the end result still haunts them to this very day.

Connection to Anishans?

It has been halfheartedly proposed on more than one occasion that Dhavians merely encompass a third and highest sub-species rank in the Anishan hierarchy. Tarrem, Celestial and Dhavian. While it may sound probable at first, the foundation of the proposition crumbles to dust once one gives it all a closer look.
— Excerpt from Entities in Alézun'Teran
One of the biggest arguments against it is that Dhavians and Anishans are connected to their own separate forces: The The Force of Ani and the Force of Dhavi respectively. Another one that cannot be dismissed is the fact that they are not born from the same Sanctum. The third and lesser argument is that the difference in primal power and durability is simply too great. The simplest argument is that while Anishans are Nelathi, Dhavians are Selathi.

Dhavians and death

Among the Selathi, Dhavians experience a death most closely akin to what Nelathi and Melathi do.

Reborn as someone new

When they are struck down, either at the hands of one of their own, due to a condition or due to a powerful artifact of power, their Zelha — which encompass their physical form, memories, and personality — is almost entirely annihilated.
Thus as a consequence, when their Khore— which encompasses their abstract and primal nature — reforms at the Sanctum of Dhavi they become essentially entirely new individuals with completely new and distinct personalities with no memories of their former selves.

Retaining their lost identities

Dhavians may retain their lost identity by utilizing XP Tablets, though those powerful enough to allow for such an excruciatingly painful process are incredibly rare and well guarded. Besides, one would have needed to upload one's identity prior to one's demise and that too is not altogether painless. Quite the opposite in fact. It is not known wheter this process reintorduce any malevolent conditions or ailments, however.
Since the Great Sorrow, this process that reportedly only been done once before, at the behest of Guardian Himself. Reportedly to undo an action previously done in stressful haste, though details are scarce.

Connection to the Abstract

Similar to their Nelathi cousins, Dhavians have a connection to the Abstract. Some connections are greater and more obvious than others, but they nonetheless all embody certain abstract concepts and themes. One may group their abstractal nature into two branches: Themes and Likseh, which are together known as Alignments.
Dhavians have two Themes connected to their Abstractal nature, and most have them being interwoven with one another. Outlies do exist, however. Beyond that, they also orbit around a singular Likseh; a term used to describe what Dhavians embody and which determines their core aspects and characteristics.

Biological Traits

Dhavians have two appearances known as Semblance of the Physical and Semblance of the Astralphysical respectivly. They are interwoven with one another, but are still distinct enough to be considerd seperate. One can be tailormade like any other cloth, while the other is more akin to their exposed body.
— Excerpt from Entities in Alézun'Teran.

Semblance of the Physical

Semblance of the Physical is what Dhavians ordinarily showcase while they interact with Nelathi and Melathi Individuals. One could compare it to a skintight suit with an appearance dictated by their current need, mood and prefrences. No matter what they look like, however, they are certain characteristics that internally remain the same.
— Excerpt from Entities in Alézun'Teran.

Dhavian blood and bones

The bones of Dhavians appear to be made out of something akin to titanium that is irregularly interspersed with golden-shaded crystalline strata. Regarding their blood, it is intially of a deep crimson shade but will within seconds brigthen to a amber shine. After a few minutes, their blood will harden into flakes of gold as it dries.
— Excerpt from Entities in Alézun'Teran.

Dhavian breath

While not entierly internal, Dhavians may irregularly breath out Sereoth in gaseous form. To those without the proper knowledge, it will merely look as if their are breathing out cold air or blowing out smoke. It primarily becomes noticable when they are either stressed or alert or attentive of their surroundings. Fortunatly, it won't have any reactive properties, as it transmutates into carbon dioxide.
— Excerpt from Entities in Alézun'Teran.

Default Dhavian appearance

All Dhavians have a default physical semblance, one which is heavily infuenced by their Alignments. Among their own it is known as the Plain Semblance, though it has something of a derogatory weight to it. It has certain characteristics that are standard for all Dhavians, such as platinum-white hair with a faint metallic shine to it and immaculate dark skin. They usually stand tall at around two-hundred centimeters, with fine chiseled musculature, as if carved from dark marble by a master craftsman.
— Excerpt from Entities in Alézun'Teran.

Physical durability and regeneration

The durability of Dhavians become noticable when they utilize Semblances of the Physical. In general, they are nigh-invulernable to physical trauma, no matter how it is bestowed. Usually, however, their bodies are invulernable to damage, and if they against all odds are injured, their potent regeneration is usually enough to handle it. Even large portions of their body can be regenerated in mere seconds, though severing their heads will be enough to incapacitate them for at least a few seconds.
However, a potent artifact of power or a powerful entity may be enough to see Dhavians severely bleed and unable to heal their injuries for a time.
— Excerpt from Entities in Alézun'Teran.

Semblance of the Astralphysical

General Astralphsyical Semblance

Dhavians showcasing Semblances of the Astralphysical take on an ethereal appearance that seamlessly melds into their surroundings. Their wispy, slowly pulsating forms shift continuously from solid to intangible, and a tapaestry of every hue imaginable ripple across their skin. Their ever-shifting glow can be brilliant as a star or subtle as the embers of a dying fire.
— Excerpt from Entities in Alézun'Teran.

Reality damaging presence

Semblance of the Astralphysical is what one could consider the true appearance of the Dhavians, though it is something they seldom showcase.
The primary reason for this is due to the fact that their astralphysical forms gives off such vast amounts of primal energy emissions that the very Fabric of Reality in their vicinity unravel from the strain they apply it.
— Excerpt from Entities in Alézun'Teran.

These emissions coalesce around the Dhavians over time and form something akin to an aura. It can be naturally subdued by their Semblance of the Physical, though only to a slight degree. For optimal protection of their surroundings and those in their vicinity, containment suits known as Vestments of Dhavi are utilized.

Effect on metal and metallic alloys
Their reality-warping aura primarily affects metal and metallic alloys. Within seconds, metallic items are superheated up to a point where they essentially turn into plasma; only the most heat-resistant materials crafted with Creation Artforms such as Utrustica or Erstellica are capable of withstanding the heat produced.
— Excerpt from Entities in Alézun'Teran.

Effect on exposed flesh
Another effect of their aura concern flesh exposed to air. After mere heartbeats, the flesh will decrease greatly in temperature and experience similar symptoms to that of frostbite. Soon after the skin has turned purple-brown, it will begin to transmute into translucent crystalline ice that slowly eats its way down to the bone.
— Excerpt from Entities in Alézun'Teran.

Effect on the eyes
A possible third effect concerns the eyes, and it appears to strike at random. It does not matter if one looks at the Dhavian with one's own eyes or through a camera feed. Only Selathi Entities — and a handful of Nelathi Individuals — have shown to be either strong or lucky enough to withstand it.
Within a few moments, the unfortunate ones will find themselves blind as their eyes transmute into a crystalline matter reminiscent of diamond. A handful of seconds watching a Dhavian is enough for the transmutation effect to reach the brain through the nerves of the eyes, which may lead to either severe brain damage or death.
— Excerpt from Entities in Alézun'Teran.

Sustenence

Dhavians do not need to eat or drink to survive. Indeed, place one into solitary confinement for several millennia and they will still be there when the gates are opened. No weaker than before though perhaps more irritated and bored. Instead, Dhavians draw forth sustenance from the Dhavi Force. This occurs naturally over time, though they can increase the amount consciously to elevate their power for a while. Doing this leaves them slightly tired afterward though.
Still, if they utilize their Semblance of the Physical, they may indulge themselves with drink and food if they so wish. Ice cold water with a pinch of sugar is something that is highly regarded among them, though why is poorly understood. It possibly makes them happier and more alert, if nothing else.
— Excerpt from Entities in Alézun'Teran.

Capabilities

Dhavians are capable of altering the Fabric of Reality to quite an extensive extent, primarily with the assistence of various Sacred Artforms, such as Strings of Sereoth and the Voice of Urh. Through the usage of Erstellica, they are also able to create artifacts of power.
— Excerpt from Entities in Alézun'Teran.

Frequential Teleportation

Dhavians are capable of Frequential Teleportation. All they need to perform a successful one is to either have prior knowledge of the destination or have it within visual range. Those that are performed blind are at greater risk of ending up in less fortunate situations, sometimes with lives lost and collateral damages. There exist three variants of this ability, and all three are intertwined with a mild form of the Blind Spot Effect. They also have the same general appearance, with a few slight differences.
— Excerpt from Entities in Alézun'Teran.

Veiled Frequential Teleportation

The most common form is Veiled Frequential Teleportation. The Dhavian is covered in a faint and translucent light, before they vanish out of thin air, only leaving behind what could be described as golden dust that quickly fades away. This all occurs in less time than it takes for someone to blink.
They reappear with a barely noticeable shockwave of air, and the light that coats them will appear to evaporate like water vapor.
This variant protects the Dhavians physical form from the forces involved in the Frequential Teleportation and is also less mentally straining. It does, however, take some concentration to initiate and is less inconspicuous.
— Excerpt from Entities in Alézun'Teran.

Unveiled Frequential Teleportation

The less common form is known as Unveiled Frequential Teleportation. When Dhavians perform it, they will appear distorted and fuzzy and a whirlwind of air will surround them. Then they will suddenly vanish out of thin air while giving off a noticeable shockwave, leaving behind a handful of fading grains of light. When they reappear, they will give off a shockwave and cause cracks to erupt beneath their feet.
Utilizing this variant causes a great deal of strain to their physical forms, and can even harm it in various ways, whether it is broken bones or lacerations. The possibility of this occurring increases if they perform this variant successively without rest. It is also mentally straining to preform and is quite conspicuous, but takes less concentration to preform.
— Excerpt from Entities in Alézun'Teran.

Explosive Frequential Teleportation

The third variant is rarely performed, but can be done as a consequence of performing several consecutive Unveiled jumps. Either that or the Dhavian can preform it willingly without varning.
When they perform it, Dhavians essentially turn their physical forms into a high-yeild bomb that can detonate with enough force to obliterate a city. First, their forms will become distorted and fuzzy, before beams of golden energy — belived to be raw Dhavi Force — rip through their skin. A few heartbeats later, the Dhavian will vanish in a blinding explosion.
When they reappear, they will be in their Semblance of the Astraphysical, as well as in severe mental pain. Their surroundings will also have experienced a great deal of destruction due to their emergence.
— Excerpt from Entities in Alézun'Teran.

Craft realms

With the usage of Amethia Crystals and the correct XP Tablets, Dhavians are capable of creating their own Tapestries of Reality and fashion them into Dvallh Realms. It is, however, a complicated process even for someone experienced, and it is an art form that has since long become a rarity. More than a few Realms have been improperly made and are in a decadent state. And then there are the times when the crafting process ended in failure, leaving behind a stillborn Realm; it is said that more than one Dhavian has been struck low in such events, due to the sheer energy involved.

Existential elemental capabilities

"First she says she is not that proficient with it, then she goes and pulls off stunts like that! Like, if she is merely okey at it, what would a master of theirs be capable of?
Speaker
Someone who observes a Dhavian manifesting a devastating lightning storm with a snap of her fingers.
All Dhavians have an innate proficiency when it comes to the creation and manipulation of existential elemental forces, such as Gravity and Electricity.
However, each Dhavian is abstractly more attuned with one than with others and has thus a certain edge with it compared to other Dhavians.
Dhavian Simmanette, for instance, is Themed towards Fire and thus has subsequently greater control over Heat, Friction, and Combustion than her counterparts. She also has an easier time creating Fire with the assistance of the Dhavi Force and can keep it alive even in environments where it ordinarily would be snuffed out within heartbeats, such as under water. Additionally, she can drain heat from the environment around her.

Metaphysical Interaction

Dhavians — like all Selathi — are capable of manipulating the metaphysical to one extent or another.
While this primarily concerns the Fabric of Reality, it also includes the metaphysical aspects of living entities; that which is colloquially known as souls. There are certain layers of stigmas associated with this prospect, with some being more frowned upon than others.
— Excerpt from Entities in Alézun'Teran.

Power transference

One of the most accepted forms of metaphysical interaction concerns the temporary transference of metaphysical power. The receiver may utilize this power as a momentary surge of energy, or to regenerate wounds faster, whether they are physical or metaphysical in nature.
— Excerpt from Entities in Alézun'Teran.

Chevattes altercations

Slight altercation
The more frowned usage concerns the slight altercation of someone's Chevattes to bestow said entity certain capabilities, such as longevity and durability. It is primarily used on Melathi and is comparable to the creation of the Heralds of Miand.
— Excerpt from Entities in Alézun'Teran.
Severe altercation
The one usage whose extended practitioner may lead to an intervention by Guardian Himself, is a more extreme form of Chevattes altercation. One that fundamentally alters an entity's metaphysical structure and subsequent physicality.
— Excerpt from Entities in Alézun'Teran.

Mental Interaction

Dhavians are able to create mental connections with entities through certain interactions with their metaphysical nature.
— Excerpt from Entities in Alézun'Teran.

Telepathic communication

The most common form is known as Telepathy and concerns the exchange of thoughts. These thoughts are primarily experienced as audible words, which may be no more different than if both giver and receiver communicated via earpiece. A more advanced form concerns the exchange of images; these may be accompanied by ambiance as well if necessary. The rawest form of telepathy concerns emotions, and their meaning may be difficult to understand without proper experience.
— Excerpt from Entities in Alézun'Teran.

Risks and alternatives
Of course, this ability has its risks attached to it. The most common one is that the minds of the receivers are too brittle and thus will break when mental contact is established. This will either lead to madness or severe brain-damage. Thus, it is rarely used towards Melathi without proper preparations. Nelathi Individuals are more likely to withstand the pressure, fortunately. Telepathy as a whole is rarely used these days, though, since technologically advanced telecommunication is seen as a better alternative.
— Excerpt from Entities in Alézun'Teran.

Mindscape wandering

Dhavians are able to interact with and wander through Draemar: A realm representing the cognitive aspect of Vael'Eteria. Subsequently, they are able to forcefully unlock and enter the mindscape of sapient individuals: Realms that essentially represent their souls, known as Sverentall Aezar. It is considered to be an artform above Telepathy and is primarily used to extract information that has been secured in the deep layers of one's subconscious mind. It also allows for better and uninterrupted communication.
The unsurpassed masters of this art form are said to be the Dhatro of Mésvéstell, as well as Origin Herself.
— Excerpt from Entities in Alézun'Teran.

Risks and hardships
The process of accessing an individual's Sverentall Aezar leaves little to no room for error. There exist a severe risk of shattering a mental realm if too much brute force is applied. And even if one is careful, the risk of causing lasting cognitive damage is always there.
And then there is the prospect of the inherent dangers within a Sverentall Aezar. Nightmares and Mantiki naturally pose the greatest obstacles, while lucid dreamers trained in cognitive defense pose the most severe threat. In the latter cases, the entierty a mental realm would turn against its intruder.
It is said that there exists a slim possibility of the Dhavians Zelha being destroyed while traversing a mental realm, as their cognitive selves do not have the inherent protections as their physical and metaphysical selves. Not initially, at least, though it is something they can receive, either through conventional training or through a XP Tablet.
The aftermath of this possible death, however, is the destruction of the mental realm, causing its owner to become brain dead. This, unless it has some astonishingly good integrity, as may be the case of the mental realms of the Divine Carriers thanks to their symbiotic relationship with the Dhatro.
