Strings of Sereoth Physical / Metaphysical Law in Miand'Mésvéstell | World Anvil

Strings of Sereoth

With it you can manipulate the Fabric of Reality. But be careful of what power you reach power.

General

Within the whole of Alézun'Teran, there exist several forms of Existential Arcane Forces that interacts with the Fabric of Reality in various ways, some of which are subtle and others are crude. One of the undoubtedly most enigmatic ones, who have a direct connection with the Fabric of Reality, is known as the Strings of Sereoth.
While it is an Artform that is primarily accessable to Selathi Races such as Dhavians, certain members of various Nelathi and Melathi Races are capable of wielding it well.

Connected to Sereoth

One reason as to why Sereoth Strings is high highly regarded and considered to be the ancestor of all Sacred Artforms, is due to it being made out of the enigmatic material known as Sereoth; Tangible Reality. Originating from within the White Sanctum, it has a direct connection with Architect Himself.
It is said that with access to the Sereoth Strings one is theoretically capable of literally anything that the Creator could do, but only the Urh can extract its true potential.

Appearance of the Strings

The appearance of the Strings of Sereoth is that of silver-white metallic strings that glisten as if they are wet with condensation. They manifest and disappear in the air around the wielder, excluding a few who are connected with their physical body, particularly their hands.
Whenever a wielders utilize the Strings, sounds akin to violin melodies are produced. Believed to be caused by the vibrations that constantly course through them.

Usage of the Strings

As mentioned, it is theoretically possible to do anything imaginable with the Strings of Sereoth due to them being literally part of the Fabric of Reality. But in practice, it is another matter entirely.
The most fundamental aspects of the Artform is what is most readily available to all wielders, and it is recommended that one does not attempt to access the grander powers that are ingrained in them, as it may cause one to disintegrate on both a physical and metaphysical level.
This is believed to happen either due to one's form not being durable enough under the strain, while others see it as an ingrained defense mechanism triggered by unworthy wielders.

Common Sereoth String Usage

Argubly the most common and grounded utilization of the Sereoth Strings is to incapacitate and capture individuals of interest. Another, more offensive sort is to use the Strings to slice through matter with eerie ease, no matter if it is metal, stone, or flesh.

Experienced Sereoth String Usage

Temperamental Manipulation & Sound Creation
More experienced wielders can bring forth temperamental effects with the Strings, and either make them as hot as the surface of a star or as cold as the empty voids, though this is ill-advised for wielders who do not have protection against extreme temperatures.
They can also manipulate the Strings in such ways as to produce various sounds, such as gunshots, footsteps, or lightning strikes.

Expert Sereor String Usage

Space & Time Manipulation

Expert wielders are capable of affecting the Fabric of Reality itself, though only the dimensions of Space and Time. They can accelerate or slow down Time, or make a room bigger on the inside than on the outside, and vice versa.

Advanced Sereoth String Usage

The epitome of the Sereoth Strings Artform for most wielders, especially in the hands of Melathi, concern two powers: Transmutation and Portal Manifestation. More than one wielder have disintegrated in attempting to utilize these powesr, however, and it is illadviced for Melathi to try it out.

Gate Manifestation

This is arguably the easier of the two advanced forms. By allowing the Strings to vibrate in certain Väes Frequencies, Masters are capable of ripping open a Gate between different points in Space.
It is a crude, unrefined way to perform a Gate Manifestation and they are not usually very stable nor safe to utilize. Though while perhaps not good means of travel, they can be used for defensive and offensive purposes.

Transmutation

The more complicated form of the two is known as Transmutation. Masters are capable of transforming glass into steel and stone into flesh. It is a crude and unrefined variant of Pristine Transmutation and unless the wielder knows exactly what needs to be done, something might explode.

To become a String Wielder

Few are capable of becoming a String Wielder and even less learn to Master its Advanced Forms. It is possible to be born with the spark that allows one to grasp the Strings, but a majority of wielders learn to grasp them, especially so among the Melathi.
The truth of the matter is that anyone not born with the spark can learn to grasp them and at the very least use the Common Forms, but not all have the willpower to see it through.
There are several ways to accomplish this: Either you expose yourself to months of torturous rituals to alter the constellations of your Lykils, followed by weeks of rehabilitation. That, or years of nigh-torturous studies and both mental and physical training.
There are also various Artifacts of Power that gives one the ability to grasp them, or you are given a Blessing or a Curse that allows it.
