Az Athur (Azz Ah-thor)

Az Athur is a small settlement of religious significance to the orcs. One road connects Az Athur to Orovical and only orcs of their own may pass it. Az Athur performs a multitude of duties, including tending to the wounded, ordination of new chieftains, and monthly rituals.
The buildings are all constructed of large stones and the town is built in a circular pattern, centering on a small hill in the center, which can be accessed by narrow, stone stairs that wind all the way around the outside. At the top, a fountain that reflects the stars was built. Depending on the event at hand, it may be filled with blood or water. As with many people across Laminarum, blood fills a particular purpose in the realm of cosmic significance, and they use it more than most. Given that their land veers on the side of non Augury territory, the use of sapient blood is unrestricted, so long as it is only taken from their own kind.
The leader of this city is an orc matriarch (called a Harridan) trained in the various arcane rituals that the orcs require. The location itself is under the subsidiary rule of the Irz Ikar, which the harridan leads. While Orovical itself (under the Tribe of Goth Urah) rules the decisions for the entire territory, they have less power than the Irz Ikar in many spiritual areas. Depending on the general consensus of the individuals that fall under the Tribe of Goth Urah, they may ignore their Chieftain entirely, in favor of their Harridan at Az Athur.

History

Az Athur was established long before Orovical became an official territory in Eldurgrund, but would not achieve religious significance until after the land was legalized. The Irz Ikar would finally step out from the dark and perform the necessary rituals for the orcs to find a central culture and ideology. Az Athur has grown into a cultural center for orcs, in some ways, but not all orcs align with the new cultist ways of Orovical. Many think that it should be by creating a great orc community for the purposes of assimilating together is the proper path, such are the ways of the Orc-Urr Aegis. Regardless, it is Az Athur that has provided orcs with answers for their identities, and it is the territories therein that most orcs have preferred since its official formation.
