New Pembroke

Founded in 169X, Welsh and Quaker refugees from England originally settled New Pembroke in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania. Most of the population these days consists of various other Protestant and Evangelical sects, as well as a fair amount of Amish and Mennonite farmers.
The population has become slightly more diverse lately, but it is still majority white, and most of the old guard views the changes with suspicion. They either blame Philadelphia, or awkwardly try to welcome newcomers. Misguidedly inviting new Jewish neighbors to come to Church on Sunday, for example. Things are all very polite, friendly, and conservative. No liquor is allowed on Sundays, and anyone out past 10pm is seen as disreputable.
The town hit an economic recession about 5-6 years ago, but things are on the upswing these days.

Demographics

The racial makeup of the city is 85% White, 3% African American, 1% Native American, 1% Asian, 8% from other races, and 2% from two or more races.
There are about 5,000 households.
In the city, the population is spread out, with 15% being kids, 10% being teens, 55% being adults, and 20% being elderly. The median age was 39 years.
