Kelly is fairly intelligent, but doesn't necessarily apply herself towards school as much as she could. As such, she's more of a 'top third' than 'valedictorian' material. That time is better spent doing her Scouts things. She does get along reasonable well with her teachers, though, and is generally respectful and deferential and others in authority (rangers, scout leaders). She attends Woolman Secondary School. She also often volunteers at The Club.
Lack of money limiting hers and others' options irritates her. As the recession of the 80's hit her family as well, she's taken towards the occasional petty larceny to supplement her income. That scouting trip to Our Chalet wasn't cheap! She's been able to play this off as income from her part-time job and scouting fundraising.
During a field trip to Horse-Thief National Park, for Mr. Moss's science class Kelly worked with Darren Wachowski, Kat Honeycutt, and Charlie Thompson to rescue Kyle Watts when he got trapped in the breathing caves. They also rescued Mr. Moss, who was badly injured trying to rescue Kyle as well. In the caves they encountered the terrifying bat-like gremlin creatures known as the Sanguisuge. Luckily Kelly and the gang were also able to enlist the help of Jimmy Moskowitz, the ghost of a dead miner from the 1920's.
Later on the Kelly and the others discovered that Kyle Watts was undergoing some kind of change as the result of his ordeal with the Sanguisuge creatures. After Kyle attacked Cal Anderson, Kelly was able to save him with her first aid knowledge. It seemed that a large gremlin, known as The Big One was searching for Kyle. With Jimmy's help they were able to drive it away. Later, she and the gang also discovered that Ms. Yang is some kind of witch who might be able to help them save Kyle and fend of the gremlins.

Linda Wilson - Kelly's mom. Works at the factory. Proud of Kelly, but isn't around a lot due to needing to pick up more shifts.
Rod Wilson - Kelly's dad. His camping trips helped to instill Kelly with a love of the outdoors. As a long-distance trucker, he's nearly never around.
