The Rhubarb Festival
New Pembroke is famous state-wide for the annual Rhubarb Festival; a three day weekend in early June filled with everything rhubarb. From classic pies (and pie eating contest), to rhubarb based alcohols for the adults. There’s even a parade.
Rumor has it that the prolific town rhubarb is a result of WWII genetic engineering gone bonkers.
Observance
Happens in mid-June every year, shortly after the school year ends.
