Larani History

This is Laran's view of themself, and everything on it is relative to how they record their own history.

Era's are tracked as counting upward, instead of counting down to year 0 then counting up. The first era, or prehistory to spaceflight, isn't recorded, only known in mythic terms. The second era (KRD) went from year 1 to year 576. The third era (TBP) went from year 1 to the year 1523. The fourth era (BKC) went from year 1 to the year 2097. The fourth era (PKR) has gone from year 1 up till now and is expected to continue.

Kedpal Rapopid

1 KRD - 576 KRD

This era is the begining of a somewhat recognizable Laran. They spent the first century fighting against those who gifted them with spaceflight, and once they eradicated them, the burgeoning empire went out to conquer the stars. This era ends with the discovery of Achronis and the start of the Long War.

    Defector Crisis
    Political event

Over the course of the near-century, roughly 70 worlds defected from one side to another. There were a myriad of reasons, from ideology to who they thought would win, but the main reason was that a world was far too separated from its central government to get any support in case the other attacked, so defected to gain more security. Towards the end of the period, both states had managed to coerce most of the planets on the fence about whether or not to defect to stay, through a series of bribes, assurances, and threats that they would attack first.

    Wrath of the First Khan
    Military action

Often referred to as the Genghis Crusade, the Wrath of the First Khan was a scorched earth campaign into Laran.  intended to strike at the heart of the Larani Armies'  food production, the region of , and bring their army down in one fell swoop. While he failed to completely destroy the region, he managed to crack at least one planet and render three more in the star cluster barely inhabitable. This resulted in a decentralization of food production, and a slow switch to the tribute system used in Laran today.

Bre Kun Sidaski

1 BKS - 2097 BKS

The only main difference between this era and the next is the increased fervor in the Long War and Laran being much weaker politically, as a result of a changing head of state every five minutes. In general, this era was about as chaotic as the pre-Mul-Zamain TBP era. All in all, fairly bleak for Laran.

    Keakubepov Collapse
    Disaster / Destruction

One of the outlying Ziggurats in Nafok Aguot had its mining operations come to a screeching halt when the ziggurat collapsed. The primary theory is that due to the mining operations focus on the terrain around and under the Ziggurat itself, the miners removed the foundations upon which the building was constructed. As such, a mix of instability and an explosion during a failed assassination attempt led to the building's collapse.

It is the only time in the cities over three thousand year history that one of its ziggurats collapsed, and the shock to the Capital was so powerful that the Laka Council banned all mining operations anywhere near the city, much less within it.

    Sapphic Crusade
    Military action

The Sapphic Crusade, named for , was a crusade called to stop a major slave operation in Eastern Laran. It involved several Warlords banding together, and punching a hole through the Larani frontline, fighting their way through to the area in question, carving out an exclave from which to raid the slavers. The crusade lasted until the force was nearly completely eradicated, in which time the populations of the controlled planets and constructed bases were evacuated and harried back until they reach the borders of Achronis. It was a major display of Achorni military might, and that the Long War was far from over, especially since they spent the entire time under siege.

    The Armageddon Campaign
    Diplomatic action

The Armageddon Campaign is a near century old offensive against Achronis, fighting up a branch of the Tzaran Streams. The branch was already notorious for the numerous amounts of storms and predators that plague its streamways, and it is these such elements, along with the obstinance of the Achroni defenders, that have hampered Larani advances for this long. Armageddon is synonymous with death sentence for any Lati or Lerin assigned there, as the turnover rate of generals, special forces, and even entire legions, is spectacularly large.
