Apprentice Vari
Vari is a Lati within Laran who works as an archeologist, specializing in tomb diving. She works for another Lati , the Erati Akhalis who themself is only one degree removed from Laka Cairn, the head of Lati Doctrine within all of Laran. In the grand scheme of things, Vari is just one Lati among many. She doesn't feel any patriotism for the empire which enslaved her for most of her life, but is too attached to it and the life she now has to defect or emmigrate. To her, Inkallu smells like acid if she's in a bad mood, or roses if she's feeling great.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
She's a relatively average Makassi, the only abnormality being her eyes, branding (from her time as a slave), and the many scars that dot her body. She's physically fit, with strength and agility being fairly average for a Lati, meaning extraordinary for a non-Inkallu.

She's above average height, at about average weight, with toned muscles and features.
Facial Features
Her facial features are sharp, sharp chin, sharp nose, and thin lips. her eyes are somewhat slanted, and she has a sharp ridge above her nose. Her earlobes are pointed, and she has a small patch of scales on her right cheekbones. All of her left cheek is covered in branding which was originally a pain rune, but which she modified to be a rune that provides a temporary physical enhancement of channeled. The right side of her forehead is covered in slash scars.

Just those of a Lati, though of Lati abilities, she favors lightning and telekinesis, along with emotional manipulation (not that kind).

Her Left Earlobe has a communication implant, and she wears a small jade earing on her right ear. She wears an Onyx Bracelet on her right arm. Vari favors loose baggy clothing, not unlike a Shaolin monk's, though coloured black, and with no sleeves.
Specialized Equipment
Hidden in the folds of her robe is a Varanium Dagger, which has been modified so that she can revert the blade to and from liquid metal. Otherwise, she has several Crysalis implants around her body, including pain inducers in her arm, small projectors embedded into her palm, and a few more of different uses. Most of them were forced onto her when she was still a slave, so she got a final neural implant to link them all to her own brain, as such, no one else can use them against her.

Personal history
Vari was born roughly 23 years ago, to unknown Makassi slave parents whom she doesn't remember, as they were sold off before she turned two. She wasn't the most compliant slave, but as Makassi slaves are a valuable commodity in Laran despite being the bottom of the food chain, she was never killed nor permanently and severely damaged.
Most of her masters, being sadistic Lati, used her as a guinea pig for experiments. Usually, the one's designed to test torture devices. The experiments are what mutated her eye colours, and left her with countless scars.
At about 20 years of age, she killed her master with latent Inkallu and was shipped off to Otanli to train as a Lati, where she was picked as an Apprentice by Erati Akhalis, securing her spot on the graduating class, and saving her from many of the other Acolytes who wanted her dead, simply for being slaveborn.
She's been working for Akhalis ever since, biding her time to kill them and take their place.

Due to abusive masters throughout the first twenty years of her life, she has a form of DPD (Multiple/Dissociative Personality Disorder), where she has multiple different voices or personalities in her head, all working for their own ends. She has near full control of her body, however.

Vari's morality is practically non-existent. She doesn't care for right or wrong, as long as her goals are met. Integrity doesn't matter as a concept, though she will do her best to maintain her promises, solely for the fact that many others value integrity. That is a general pattern, Vari doesn't value or respect many traits such as mercy, loyalty, or benevolence (Unless dealing with those she respects and considers friends) but will stay true to those values as long as they benefit her.
For example, she would stop a contingent of soldiers under her command from abusing an occupied civilian population, not out of the goodness of her heart, but for the simple fact that it reduces the risk of rebellion. In short, practical villainy.

The sound of rattling chains is enough to set Vari on edge, mostly due to her early life in bondage. She has a habit of stating intentions such as "Neither of Us can trust each other, so I'm gauging just how much you're willing to tell me" out loud. She can often get lost in her work, losing track of time, but nearly never her surroundings. Vari isn't a prude, but she isn't particularly sexual either. She finds it much more satisfying to read physical paper and books rather than Crysalis, so reserves them for official matters, using them sparingly otherwise.

When speaking she remains casual, if not a bit eloquent, unless in the presence of authority, then she becomes extremely formal and respectful, though this is more due to a fear of being incinerated for pissing off the resident powerful Lati, than actual respect. If she is eating and conversing at the same time, she will also often unconsciously attempt to eat when speaking.
