Nameless

These are the Jedi to the Lati's Sith
The Nameless are the largest religion within the entire known Rift, simply for its prevalence within Achronis. It is also the religion followed by a host of warrior monks, the main combatants of the Long War aside their mortal enemies, the Lati. They are paladins and crusaders, fighting for universal enlightenment and joining with the creator of all, The Nameless.

Structure

The Nameless have a fixed command structure that has technical authority over all the Nameless, but in practice, most tend to move around the Rift as Wandering Crusaders, practicing the Order's beliefs in their own manner. That said, here si their organizational structure.

Hojay: The Hojay, or Crusaders, are the most common type of Nameless. They act as operatives for the central apparatus, or as stated previously, are simply wandering crusaders for the Nameless cause. These Nameless are the most consistent headache for the council and for Achronis, because small bands will depose any sector ruler they find objectionable, causing who knows how many diplomatic incidents.

Huk: The Huk are similar to the Hojay, but they are officially connected to the Council of the Nameless in more than just belief. These are the ones who lead troops into battle as the Nameless Council works with Achronis.

Pangan: The Pangan is Huk or Hojay who have proved their master of Inkallu, and have been granted this title by the Nameless Council. They are usually generals and admirals, as the mastery of their abilities often comes from many of the same qualities which make a good leader.

Yagi: A Yagi, or Councilor, is one of twenty-one on the Nameless Council. They are appointed through a majority vote when a seat opens up, and the candidate must be a Pangan. These are the twenty-one Nameless who guide the Holy order through the universe,e charting it's course.

Joay: A Joay, or Apprentice, is any nameless who is still training in their abilities. Training is handled on a case by case basis, and recruits can be of any age, as long as they prove their dedication to the Nameless. They spend some time with the Nameless' central apparatus and then are given out to individual Hojay or Huk's to train in the ways of the Nameless, appointed as a full one themselves when their master dubs them ready.

Chyoball: A Chyoball, or a hunted, is a Nameless who has turned their back on the Holy Order. They may have been caught going against the Nameless values one too many times, the Council may have decided they were too dangerous or too autonomous to be allowed to continue as a Nameless, or they may have flat out renounced the order and defected to the Lati. No matter what caused them to be cursed with this title, every other Nameless now has a capture or kill on sight policy. The Council would usually like for a Hunted to be captured to stand trial, maybe sentenced to life in prison. In many cases, they will try to redeem them and "return them to the light", but if capture isn't possible, immediate execution is best.

Public Agenda

The Nameless' Public Agenda is to protect and serve Achronis as it's elite warrior corp. Most Nameless see that as mutually inclusive with their more general goal of protecting goodness and light across the Rift.

Assets

The Nameless

Military

The Nameless have their own internal police force, but it doesn't have sway over any but other Nameless. Otherwise, the Order serves as a crucial part of the Achroni army and leadership.

Foreign Relations

The Nameless are not a political entity, they are a holy order. That being said, make no mistake, they are the beating heart of Achronis, so matter how much they simply style themselves as its defenders. Their religion is the most worshipped within the interstellar nation, their heroes are revered as icons in a disturbingly close way to the reverence of the Lati by the Lerin, and any Nameless holds immense sway. This leads them to dominate much of Achroni politics, with their wars becoming Achronis' wars. The most notable example of this is the Long War.

Mythology & Lore

The Nameless believe The Nameless to be the root of all existence. They believe that this figure sacrificed their corporeal form to create reality, but their soul is still around, watching over their creation and guiding them.

Divine Origins

This religious order originated from the native Corajyo of the planet Faenog', those of whom were most powerful in Inkallu were granted visions of this all-being entity. Through their ability to see the universe as they believed it truly was, simply remnants of The Nameless' corpse, and the ability to commune with them, they gained enlightenment. They spread this religion to others, and when their small kingdom came into contact with the burgeoning Achronis, the religion was adopted by the small state in return for the assistance and protection of this powerful group of Warrior Paladins.

Cosmological Views

The Nameless see the Rift, the UNiverse, as all formed by the soul of The Nameless from the body of The Nameless. They view the Nameless as an embodiment of light and goodness, believing that those who follow their teachings will ascend upon death, to become one with the Nameless and able to help them guide life. Those who do not live the Nameless' perfect life are reborn to try again until they can achieve the Nameless' perfect life.

Nuance is not very prevalent within their teachings, one is either working for the good of The Nameless and therefore the Universe, or one is working against the Nameless, and is, therefore, a heretic who must be struck down.

Tenets of Faith

The Nameless' beliefs can be summarized as light is right. Anything that is "light" and as such good is cherished. There are many beliefs held by the adherents of this Holy Order, but the three main ones can be summarized here.

  • Protection - The Nameless believe it is their duty to protect the weak and guide them towards the light. That is the main ideological reason they fight the Lati, as the latter believes in might makes right, rather than might protects meek.
  • Detachment - To prevent temptation from worldly possessions, the Nameless preach a spartan lifestyle. One needs no more possessions than their weapon, their clothes on their back, and the base equipment required for their duties. This often goes too far, however, and the Nameless can become detached from emotion as well as possession. This is one of the symptoms of their Inkallu Corruption. The most devoted will detach themselves from all societal strings, casting off their names in an attempt to emulate their god.
  • Justice - A Nameless must be willing to fight for justice, not that of the law, but what a Nameless believes is right. This often brings them into conflict with Achronis, as the government likes their laws being respected and the Nameless do not that.
One last practice carried out by all Nameless is very similar to the beliefs of the Lati's Way Of The Blade.  THe Nameless believe that The Nameless created Varanium as an extra holy material, and that every Nameless' Varanium weapon, always a melee weapon, should be their most important and revered possession. It is an extension of their god themself, and through it, they become more attuned to The Nameless's path.

Ethics

The Nameless in general are pretty nice. The order preaches not being a douche, specifically kindness, compassion, understanding, and forgiveness. This, however, does not apply to the Hunted, or to non-repentant heretics. At best, they get to not be warcrimed, which is better than most other religions treat their heretics. Even towards believers or those who the Nameless see as merely "misguided" (AKA those who don't believe but aren't actively antagonistic towards the Order and The Nameless), not all nameless follow those rules.

Worship

The most common way to pray to The Nameless is to run a special incense produced on Faenog', one which grants visions similar to those gained by the most powerful Nameless. Simply doing this once a month will satisfy most Nameless. They themselves worship their god by existing as they do.

Granted Divine Powers

The abilities gained form practicing one's Inkallu abilities in the manner of the Nameless is quite similar to Lati for how much the two cults hate one another.

The Nameless have extensive telekinesis and telepathic abilities with limited elemental control. Their physical enhancements often go far further than that of a Lati, though the more powerful of each Cult tend to be about even in this regard.

Nameless Inkallu tends to have precognition which is much more manageable, as well. Due to the way it works, in that trillion of possible outcomes of the next few seconds of an Inkallu's awareness are presented to the brain, which then has to try to sort through it all, many go insane trying to deal with the ability whenever it kicks in. A Nameless being blessed with their precognition, (it's a random thing, not something that can be controlled), their brain seems to be able to process it faster, likely due to how their Koh is shaped. The Kali Energy assisted Brain will logically sort through all the possibilities, presenting the broad strokes to the Nameless in question in the split second the recognition is at work, so they can react accordingly.

Some Nameless can have visions, in a similar manner to seers and Oracles, but it usually only happens to the Nameless far down the path of Inkallu Corruption. Nameless cannot combine their magic with that of others, unlike the Lati and their runes. instead, Nameless abilities tend to be much more powerful on average than their Lati counterparts, though an average Lati is about as powerful as an average Nameless.

The Nameless, similar to Lati, each detect Inkallu with a unique smell, with those who aren't sensitive smelling whatever the casting Nameless smells.

Political Influence & Intrigue

The Nameless are an essential part of Achronis. Many serve as the lords for Achroni secotrs, and most serve as wandering protectors or elite troopers and generals for the Achroni populace and army. The two are now inseparable, though the Nameless Council does maintain its nominal independence, governing it's capital as an independent state.

Sects

Ther Nameless have only three major sects, all splinter factions.

The Lords of the Unnamed One believe that Nameless should take full control of Achronis, as that would be the best way of defeating Laran. They are often very extreme, engaging in political terrorism with the support of Achroni sectors who have converted to their cause. As such, near every member is Hunted by the rest of the order.

The Guided are a sect of Nameless who follow a strict code. They are seen as extremists in their demands of other Nameless, but lenient in their conversion of non-Inkallu. They are a decidly militant faction, though this is pointed against the enemies of Achronis rather than Achronis itself.

The Trancendant believe that the Nameless should withdraw from the rest of the galaxy, and all return to lives of peace and meditation on Faenog'. They are pacifists, who believe that self-improvement is the best path towards universal enlightenment and that if they simply stop fighting, they will be left alone. Meta: They're idiots.

We Fight for Light

Power

An important thing to understand about the Nameless is where they draw their power from. Adding to their contrast with the Lati, Nameless draw their power from self-calm. The more relaxed and at ease they are, the more powerful their abilities become. The more emotional they are, the less they have control over them. The most powerful Nameless always tend to be completely stiff and composed, as they have drained themself of emotion. Just as the most powerful Lati are completely controlled by theirs. Neither are good places to be.

The Yagi council dictates the doctrine which all Nameless theoretically must follow. However, most Nameless develop their own interpretation of the Order's values and code, which they follow. The Council also doesn't usually change much, adhereing to tradition when it comes to doctrine.

Otherwise, the council also decides when and how it supports Achronis, usually by granting its warriors to their army as elite shock troops and generals. The Council has a liaison to Achronis, a position that shifts and rotates between the members. The position holds a lot of influence, so much so that the Yagi who hold it often become the heads of Achronis' entire army.

The other odd council position is that of the Emissary. It is an elected position within the Council and usually doesn't mean much, but if the Emissary chooses to use their extra authority on a crucial matter, they have absolute power. They are seen as the head of the Nameless when a single leader is required, but otherwise blend in with the other Counillors.
Judicial Body
The Council weighs on all internal matters, judging a Nameless who has been brought for trial, and settling internal disputes.

For reasons lost to the past, the Lati and the Nameless have been feuding for over three and a half millennia. While the reasons for its beginnings are lost to history, it has been continuously fueled by mutual enmity, hatred, and ideological differences, all of which have smothered the few attempts to make peace. This rivalry is the reason for the Long War, as the enmity is shared by their respective states.
