Inkallu Corruption

Inkallu Corruption is the name for the family of diseases, or more accurately, curses, afflicted on all those who use their magical abilities too much. That is to say, at all. It worsens the more one uses their abilities, and after a certain point, will either kill them or render the victim unrecognizable from their former self, in many more and much deeper ways than just physicality.

Causes

Inkallu corruption is caused by the overuse of one's magical abilities. The amount needed to trigger its sow descent varies form person to person, but most theorize it takes repeated use over the course of a month.

Symptoms

The conditions vary based on the type of Inkallu. Some commonalities are however, detachment from reality, the physical appearance degrading, and the warping of reality around the Inkallu in question.

Prognosis

This condition afflicts anyone who uses their magical abilities semi-consistently.

Sequela

They vary from type of magic to type of magic.

Affected Groups

All Inkallu.

Prevention

Most different forms of Inkallu have methods to prevent it. The Lati have rituals, the Nameless have meditation, the various groups who practice Yar have whatever random stuff they come up with. Its always an obstacle however, never a full stop.

Cultural Reception

It depends on the type of illness. Being part of the Nameless and being afflicted by Lati Corruption is a good way to get oneself killed, not because of the affliction, but because the afflicted would have been a Lati all along. It acts more of a signifier of allegiance in its base state than anything else, its the different variations that get treated differently by different cultures.
