Vari kills her master, the Erati Akhalis, right as they were to take the title of Laka of Lati Doctrine & Inkallu Affairs.

This is actually quite the achievement, as Vari and Akhalis had worked together as master and apprentice for far longer than most, somewhere in the vein of two decades. Vari did so as she was worried, rightly, that her master would kill her once they took their seat, as Vari would have posed far too much fo a threat to be left alive.

This shook the entire branch of Laran, as the easily most powerful claimant of the seat had been removed, leaving the Lati who worked in the field all competing with each other for the privilege. It also left Vari on the wrong side of a few too many knives, leading to some later alliances.
