The
Kingdom of Remon boasts numerous fortifications across its diverse landscapes, from coastal strongholds to inland bastions. Some of these sites are still occupied and play an active role in the kingdom’s defence, while others have fallen into ruin, their histories shrouded in mystery and intrigue.
Occupied castles and towers
Situated on the southern coast along
Berin Sound, Castle Biltar serves as a critical coastal stronghold. Commanded by
Lord Drannis, the fortress plays a vital role in protecting the timber-rich
Denerth Woods and securing the coastline. However, the mysterious disappearance of a heirloom blade, the Song of the Tide, has caused tension within its walls.
Fort Dayn is the kingdom’s first line of defence along the
Straits of Jaltra. Commanded by
Lord Karvas Mannakar, this sprawling fortress is a vital military hub. Recently, concerns about supply irregularities and the growing influence of Mannakar’s son,
Althus, have troubled the garrison.
Fort Rolmir stands on the road between
Fort Dayn and the coastal towns, providing a strategic outpost in the network of defences along
Remon's southern coast. Commanded by
Captain Storn, the fort has recently been caught up in the intrigue surrounding Fort Dayn, with suspicions of corruption lurking in the background.
A sturdy fortress on the
Bay of Laknas, Irestone guards the southern
Plains of Daraneen and nearby trade routes.
Lord Commander Venrick oversees this outpost, where he contends with raids led by the elusive warlord
Jalash Karnoch.
The great Keep at
Laknas controls the vital
Ogir River crossing in the north of Remon. Under
Lord Garron, a cousin of
King Dastan III the keep has become a hub of corruption and ambition, as Garron turns the once-honourable fortress into his personal fiefdom.
This lighthouse and lookout tower stands at the northern edge of the Bay of Harsann. Commanded by
Captain Inshenn, Nalyn Tassad ensures safe passage for ships. Unknown to others, Inshenn secretly serves as a spy for
Forbin, gathering intelligence on Remon’s naval defences.
The Old Palace in
Jaltra once served as the royal residence of Remon’s monarchs before the capital moved to
Harsann. Now occupied by
Princess Karenth, the King’s younger sister, the palace still houses a small garrison and the Royal Crypt, while its crumbling western wing falls into the sea.
The Royal Palace in
Harsann is the current seat of the
monarchs of Remon. Built on a rise overlooking the
River Dayn and Bay of Harsann, it serves as both a symbol of power and a hub for political affairs. Its strategic location and strong defences make it one of Remon’s most secure fortifications.
Perched above the cascading falls of the
River Dayn, the Garrison at
Soldra is a critical outpost controlling trade with the
Norran. Commanded by the strict
Captain Yuldan, tensions have risen as Yuldan’s harsh policies have damaged trade relations with the Norran cities.
Tiran’s Keep overlooks the
Straits of Jaltra and serves as both a military outpost and the seat of
Lady Fenna Larshiss. Though loyal to the crown, Larshiss has subtly expanded her influence, positioning her sons for future political power in the kingdom.
Once used to keep young prince
Keskus safe from his foretold doom, this slender tower in the Denerth Woods is now a military outpost under
Captain Felthor.
Ruins
Located on the edge of the Plains of Daraneen, Fort Sarlindal is now a crumbling ruin haunted by legend. Once a key northern sentinel, it is now a base for brigands led by the feared Drask the Black, who uses the ruin to launch raids on the surrounding lands.
Hibressand is a ruined fortress from the
11th century wars between the new
Kingdom of Remon and the
Norran of the mountains.
Ralshan Darn, once the stronghold of
Tiran III, lies in ruins in the
Krund Hills. Destroyed in a great siege, the fortress now harbours colonies of dangerous
Narshax and whispers of twisted sorcery. The hidden tunnels beneath the ruins are perilous, said to conceal ancient secrets and magical remnants.
