Elmer Barthen

Elmer Barthen is the human male shopkeeper at Barthen's Provisions in Phandalin.
On Day 3 of the campaign, Conor McGregor, Herb Stoner and Lords' Alliance agent Sildar Hallwinter arrived in Phandalin in the evening. Their first stop was Barthen's Provisions, and they explained to Elmer that they were there to deliver the wagon that belonged to Gundren Rockseeker-Deceased. Elmer paid them each their fee, but he also explained that Gundren never arrived. Elmer asked the group to find Gundren, and he then explained that Gundren's two brothers (Nundro Rockseeker and Tharden Rockseeker-Deceased) live in a camp outside of town (Rockseeker Camp). He said they Nundro and Tharden will probably be stopping by sometime soon since they usually check in with Elmer. The group told Elmer about their encounters with goblins, and Elmer explained that Linene Graywind, the manager of Lionshield Coster: Phandalin, mentioned to him that she suspected goblins may have been the cause of some recent troubles for her.
On Day 17 of the campaign, Conor, Rayphlárd and Tubby visited the shop; Shinzon Greenshadow was also with the group, but he was invisible after taking a potion of invisibility. They walked in on Elmer talking to Ander and Thistle; Ander was describing how Velleen Firecrow, the assistant manager at the Lionshield Coster who recently moved to town, was starting to act strange. Ander said that Velleen was talking about how the "Stormlord" was going to destroy non-believers. He thought she was joking, but he changed his mind and thought she may actually believe that. Elmer then greeted the group, recognizing Conor. He told Conor that Nundro had stopped by earlier in the day and told Elmer about everything that happened with their family and Wave Echo Cave.
On Day 18, at the Greengrass Festival, Elmer hosted a "Chase the Chicken" contest in which 10 chickens were released in a caged area and the participants tried to catch the most chickens. The participants were Ander Sogard, Rayphlárd, Thistle Sogard and Velleen Firecrow. Rayphlard was the winner, and there was notable tension between Ander and Velleen.

Personal history

Just before the start of the campaign, Gundren Rockseeker-Deceased told Elmer he was traveling to Neverwinter. Gundren told Elmer that he was going to hire some adventurers to bring some of his supplies down to Phandalin and ask them to drop them off at Barthen's Provisions. Gundren gave Barthen 30 GP to pay to the party if they successfully delivered the supplies.
