Shinzo

Shinzo (a.k.a. Dimension Eater)

Shinzo was a skilled mage and half sheikah, half hylian assassin named Shinzo. His skills, intellect, and loyalty to Hyrule’s crown promoted him to becoming the leader of the Sheikah. However, when the crown betrayed him, he turned against Hyrule and took it over. He created the divine beasts, which angered the gods to such an extent that he and his followers were banished from Hyrule forever. The king that followed his reign, out of fear of the gods wrath and the Sheikah's newfound power, demanded any remnants of Shinzo be destroyed. As such Shinzo is largely wiped from history.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Education

When Shinzo was young and still training, the Hebra Zonai made an agreement with Hyrule to train mages in exchange for receiving supplies. Shinzo was sent to them. There, he met the spirit Otto, who noticing his particular aptitude for magic, became a personal tutor for him.   Shinzo also was trained by the Sheikah elite, who were wise in the ways of silent deaths and advanced technology.   Shinzo spent his adult life encased in his own studies, developing the baseline for nearly all future tech and magic in Hyrule.

Employment

Shinzo worked under the Royal Family to carry out difficult tasks to regain Hyrule's allies: the Zora, Gerudo, Rito, and Gorons. Much of their orders didn't work, as they involved assassinations, bribes, and underhanded tactics. Shinzo often spent what little free time he had on and in between missions actually reuniting Hyrule.   Later, he became Clan Leader to the Sheikah, Chieftain of the Zonai, and King of Hyrule.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Shinzo became the leader of the Sheikah due to his skill and intellect. He conquered the Zonai's grand leader and became their chieftain. He became like a god to the Zola. He took over Hyrule and became its king. He established peace in a time of war. He sent the Hebra Zonai to more peaceful lands.

Failures & Embarrassments

The gods exiled him for putting Hyrule into a state of darkness and for using the triforce in unintended ways.

Mental Trauma

Shinzo lived a hard life. His father was harsh, teaching Shinzo the way of the knight at too young an age. His assassin mother, the clan leader of the Sheikah, focused on making him an absolute killer and groomed him into being the next Clan Leader. His childhood was nearly exclusive to studies and missions. He had few friends during his early life. The only friends he really made were in the Zonai Hebra, but he was only among them for a short while.   As he grew older, he grew to love killing as an escape from the stress of his studies.   After the crown betrayed him, he became obsessed with delivering Hyrule from terrible management. He had to spend his time in exile, away from his wife, in the depths of what he previously considered a demon's temple (Colossus). There, he fully embraced dark arts so as to match the Zonai's brutal power in magic duel.   He assassinated his previous queen and exiled the past king.   He found later that the past king neglected the calls for help from his friends, the Hebra Zonai, and so they all perished at the hands of a terrible beast.   In his attempts to save Hyrule from the next wave of the demon king, the gods exiled him and his allies to a dead realm, separating him from his wife and newborn son. He then watched Hyrule erase all his hard work and murder any remaining loyal followers.   He was sealed within his exiled realm for trying to return.   He watched from his sealed world as his precious Hyrule fell to ruin over and over again.   His only Twili follower was murdered by Sheikah, preventing him from sparing his beloved Twili as his darkness swept over the realm.   His sudden omnipresence, his possessions, and the memories he's devouring has made him lose sense of himself.   In order to maintain any control over the conflicting magical elements he is absorbing, he has separated the magic into segregated cores of himself. In this way, he has split his identity into fragments, furthering his confusion over who or what he is. When spoken to, there are a dozen different "Shinzos" that might be spoken with. These different Shinzos embody a certain core aspect of Shinzo. As such, on the surface they may not appear to be much different, but in truth, they tend to perceive the world a little differently--a consequence of each of them being formed from (and hyper-fixating on) particular memories, goals, or emotions. The result of this is that one Shinzo may be full of hope while another may be consumed by regret and yet another might be tormented by self-loathing. (To note, this is not some form of dissociative identity disorder. They all remember and see and experience everything that any one of them has experienced. They are all still completely connected. They are simply different parts of his identity formed from core memories of himself. It would be more accurate to say that these are Shinzo's across time - some formed from his childhood memories, others formed from his time serving the royal family, others from his time with his wife, etc.)

Morality & Philosophy

Before being betrayed, he believed Hylia and the golden goddesses to be the good gods of the world. After his exile to the Gerudo and interactions with Vile, he became less fond of them, and saw them more as neutral deities. His exile to the twilight realm, though, made him see them as selfish entities toying with the people of Hyrule, using them as their pawns against demise.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

On the bare surface level, Shinzo wants to be a hero for Hyrule, but isn't afraid to be viewed as a villain to save the blessed kingdom. He believes that as long as the triforce exists, there will be endless wars fought over it, so he plans to destroy it. This is what he tells himself to justify his actions.   In truth, he has seen the actions the gods have taken and he has judged them. Much like how he judged the king of Hyrule, he will do the same to the gods and demons. He sees their war as childish. He believes that as long as magic and the triforce exist, entities will arise to ravage Hyrule over it - incarnations or no. It's a cruel performance that the gods began in Hyrule when they left the triforce there. He will end magic, the triforce, and demons entirely. He will forbid the gods from entering Hyrule again.   His plan is to break out of his seal in the twili realm, break into Hyrule, break into the sacred realm, and then use the triforce to wish that the gods would be forbidden from touching Hyrule and that the spirits, demons, triforce, and magic would meet their end. His wish is to end the war between gods and demons, to end the incarnation cycle, by ending magic and the gods with it.   he is aware that this could render his existence null, that he could die or simply cease to be once his wish is made. He doesn't care. He is more interested in having the last laugh.   Each core has a slightly different emphasis on his motivation described above:
  • Water - "I have Hyrule's best interests at heart. I am sick of seeing it coated in rivers of blood caused by the Demon Kings relentless tides of war. I am going to take what he wants most - magic, the triforce, power itself - and destroy it forever. Unfortunately, this isn't without sacrifice. I, the gods, the fae, the great spirits, and other immortal magical beings will die with the demons and with magic's destruction. I am committed to this, though, because I believe it is the only way of ensuring the end of the wars between demons and gods in Hyrule's realm"
  • Fire - "Hyrule is on the defensive. This means that while the Demon King can lose over and over again and still come back to fight, Hyrule can only lose once, and then its over. Statistically, this is eventually bound to happen unless, that is, someone or something steps in to create an ultimate deciding factor. Although the gods really should have been the one to do this, since they didn't (or, in Hylia's case, they tried and only managed to make a stalemate), I'll do it instead. I intend to do that by removing magic - the thing that is used to fight and the thing that is fought over in all these battles."
  • Earth - "I want to lead the people of Hyrule to a world where they don't have this guaranteed war of demons vs gods clashing over their heads, destroying everything without any regard for the delecate creation beneath them. I want Hyrule's citizens to look to the future and see the possibiliies of growth and advancement, not guaranteed endless comings of colossal calamities."
  • Ice - "Magic provides the possibility of infinity. The triforce promises infinite power. Infinite greed seeks that power causing infinite destruction. The wars of the immortals - the infinite living - crushes the mortals - those limited by finite lives. It isn't fair for them to be faced with a scale of infinite despairity. I want to remove magic, and remove the infinity from the equation. I want a more balanced world where anyone can achieve "the highest heights"... where there is a concept of "highest" and "greatest" rather than an endless hopeless abyss of bottomless power looming among the average. I want power to be manageable. Destruction limited. and greed tempered."
  • Shock - "Hyrule's gods are like the king of my era in Hyrule - incompetent. They don't seem to be a doing a very good job of ultimately ending the war they have going on - only stalling it. And in doing so, everyone suffers. I'm sick of letting kings and gods get away with letting their people be crushed by war. I'll save Hyrule from itself no matter what - even if I'm painted a villain in the process!"
  • Dark - "What I am doing is in no way "hero's" work. In fact, I may be even worse than the Demon King himself! Where he mindlessly seeks power without wisdom and causes mass destruction as a side effect, I am intentionally seeking destruction itself and defying the gods' design. Beings who were never designed to die - Fae, Koroks, Great Spirits, Demons, gods, entities like myself, and any other magically oriented beings - will die. And while I am ultimately saving Hyrule from itself, I and anyone associated with me, very well may go down in History as the greatest villains to ever be."
  • Light - "I want to save Hyrule, and I want to seek justice. The immortals rarely intervened during the calamities, but when i defied their intended use of the triforce - their "design" of the object - they personally interceded. When they did this, I believed it was a just act, and I let them banish me without a fight. But, in choosing to only intercede against me and to never fight their own damn wars against the Demon King, I've seen their real motives: their creation is a toy and their war is a game and our suffering is insignificant - or worse, a part of the entertainment. So, I, with the power I've now amassed, will exact judgement for their mistreatment of their creation. I will destroy magic, and with one blow, I will make things fair and right - ending my life which should have ended long ago and forcing the immortals to face the consequences of their indifference - or pleasure - to our suffering."

Likes & Dislikes

Likes a bit of chaos   Dislikes incompetence

Virtues & Personality perks

He is courageous, powerful, and wise.

Vices & Personality flaws

He is not a good being. He will do whatever it takes to achieve his goals, even if it kills people or paints him as a villain.   However, he also desires to be a hero. His goals are intended to help people.

Personality Quirks

Likes explaining himself. Can't help but get involved, even when he probably shouldn't.   He acts like he has a logical reason for everything, that emotions don't influence his decisions. However, this is far from true. He is truthfully fueled by an irrational bloodlust, desire for revenge, and an obsession with saving Hyrule.

Social

Reign

He united Hyrule after a long war. However, it ended with his exile and encasing Hyrule in darkness.

Contacts & Relations

Volga is his best friend and most loyal follower. Volga does whatever Shinzo asks of him, regardless of the reason.   Shinzo worked for the Royal family of old.   Liza, a Wind Tribe Zonai, was supposed to be his student, but the tribe was attacked before that could happen.   Malaati was a favored mercenary of his, but also a beloved rival in monastic training.   Vile was a student, but he didn't care for her or teach her all that much.

Family Ties

His father was a Hylian Knight in the Royal Guard. His mother was the Sheikah Clan leader, Magnolia.   He has a Hylian wife named Asteria .   His direct descendant is the Hero of the first Calamity.

Religious Views

He sees the gods as entities using Hyrule as its playing field against demons.

Social Aptitude

He is proud, assertive, and deceitful. However, he does possess great charisma.

Mannerisms

He appears relaxed and aloof in most situations.   He seems to be having fun in all battles, even if he's losing.

Hobbies & Pets

His favorite thing to do is study magic and technology.

Speech

I will save Hyrule even if I have to become a villain or demon to do so. As long as great power resides in Hyrule, endless wars will be fought over it. I will destroy that power, and save Hyrule from its fate of cyclical war.   Look around you. Do you see how even after years of restoration Hyrule still lies in ruins? And for what? The Triforce. The gods are childish, toying with Hyrule as if its wars were games. It's a cruel performance that the gods began in Hyrule when they left the Triforce here. I will bring an end to it all.   To do that, I need to first get out of the Twili Realm. I also need allies and backup in case any of my plans fail... and for when my enemies inevitably intervene.    For now, that is all I can tell you. Because it is still uncertain if you will help me, if you will stray from the path I've made, or if you will rebel against me, I simply cannot risk telling you all the details of my plans. I will ask, though, are you willing to help my cause?
