She married Shinzo/Magnus, and through him, she would eventually become Queen of Hyrule. Today, her spirit haunts Ikana Quarry .

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Asteria was born to the Wind Tribe Zonai during the Civil War. After an incident with bandits, her family recognized her skill as a fighter. They trained her, and she quickly became an esteemed warrior and general.   Asteria was a child Zonai born of the Faron region tribe. She, like all Zonai, was training with the Wind Tribe in hebra. This was where she met Shinzo.      WIP: clan to the clouds without the crown's consent. However, after observing him in battle and getting to know him personally, she quickly fell in love. Shinzo and her married after a few years of fighting together in the civil war, and Asteria gave birth to Shinzo's first son.   Later, the crown betrayed Shinzo, believing him to be a double agent on account of prophecies and his previous, unaccounted for political maneuvers. They ambushed him and his closer allies. Only He, Asteria, her son, and Volga escaped. Asteria went to hide with the Faron Zonai.   Asteria reunited with Shinzo when Shinzo took over the Zonai tribe. Together with the tribe, they assaulted Hyrule. Asteria became queen afterwards, and looked after Zelda. Shinzo, after hearing about the coming of Calamity Ganon, gave her Fen, a weapon spirit.   Asteria gave birth to a child, Link, the Hero of the First Calamity Ganon. However, shortly after his birth, Asteria realized she was about to be exiled. She made a deal with the Goddess of Time: The goddess would allow the child to stay in Hyrule, and promised Asteria she would see him again if she fled to Termina. Asteria gave her child to the goddess and moved to Termina with Fen .   In Termina, Asteria discovered a conflict between the major kingdom of Ikana and a neighboring kingdom of ninjas, Garo. They were fighting over crystal gems (timeshift stones) in the Ikana Canyon. The people of Ikana used them as magic sources in rituals, so Asteria thought to end their war by finding them a new source. She had been taught by Shinzo how to trap souls in masks, and so she set out to find a suitably powerful individual. This was Majora, a demon of the Ikana wastes who lured people to him on the idea that he would grant wishes. In truth, he devoured their desires and turned the wicked intentions into power. Majora was turned into a mask and given to the Ikana king as a peace offering. In exchange, the Garo were permitted use of the Quarry and gems.   The mask, however, corrupted the people of Ikana. They became consumed and enslaved by its power. The Garo again attacked the Ikana people, this time with Asteria's help. Asteria killed the king and took back the mask. The Garo and Ikana waged their war until they met utter annihilation. Their souls continued to wage war even in death, and Ikana was cursed into a wasteland where no life lived.   Asteria spent the rest of her days guarding Ikana and the mirror, waiting to see her son again. In this time, she made many magical masks, including the Fierce Diety Mask, which was a powerful mask filled with her memories of her husband. She continuously sang the song of healing, a song her husband told her would cast away the curses of the world.   Asteria did not see her son in her life. She died and continued to haunt Ikana. She built puppets to act in her stead, and they continued to protect Ikana and the mirror that bridged Hyrule and Termina. The prophecy was fulfilled when the Child Hero walked through Termina and saved it from Majora. However, since this child was an incarnation, and not her flesh and blood, she refused to acknowledge him.   Asteria became less and less rational as time passed. She began to attack and interrogate people on the location of her son. Fen saw this and determined it was necessary to put Asteria to sleep in some form or fashion. After talking with the Great Fairy of Kindness, Fen and her made a seal on Asteria, using Fen as a power source. However, Asteria was still able to maintain some control of the puppets, so she continued to interact with the world in that way.   Shinzo sent Shadow Sumrak into the mirror to corrupt the seal on Asteria and Fen. At this point, Asteria was far from sane. She could sense Shinzo all about her, but her would not talk to her or communicate with her. She decided it was time to get his attention, so she started making a ruckus in his precious Hyrule. She did so by grabbing people from Termina, turning them into Stalfos through exposure to the mirror, and sending them to Hyrule Castle, one at a time. It was a useless strategy, and one that gave away her position and attracted unwanted attention. Secretly, though, Asteria did this because she was desperate for attention, for anyone to come to her.

Speech

Asteria's subconscious is connected to the Cantastors, puppets which shout sickening tales. The stories those puppets spew are below and are derived from Asteria:   Shinzo’s First Born A small prince rests alone in a vast, vast bedroom. He wishes his father knew how much he hates sleeping alone, but he doesn't dare to tell him. For the king is a very busy man and must not be disturbed. Similarly, a king sits alone in his vast, vast laboratory, drowning in plans to overcome a crisis. All he wants is to see his family and hug his son, but he cannot. For his every waking moment must be spent in service of the people. One day, while eating dinner, the king asks his son what he most desires in the world. He hopes he will say that he wants them to spend more time together, but instead the boy simply points at a sword hanging on the wall. The ancient sword is considered the sign that one is ready to rule. 'Someday' the king chuckles. His son faintly smiles back at him, but all the son really wanted was for his father to read him a bedtime story...   Asteria1 I take up the sword and battle for you. My heart knows not fear, instead burning with a love strong and pure. I swing my sword for you, spattered blood across my sleeve. I smile as the chaos continues, I brandish my sword for you. Victims uncountable. Victims beyond measure. Their dying wails become the song of my sleep. I cry out "Give me your head!" I capture them as they flee and take it. I do all this for you. For you. For you. ...Where are you?   Shinzo Once, there was a gentle angel who came to earth to provide salvation for those in need. Whether it was curing illnesses, offering blessings, or cheering the sad, he was always there when needed. The angel, however, provided aid to sinners and non-believes as well--an act which was strictly forbidden. Each time he did so, a single white feather would fall away from his glorious wings. One day, the angel came across a young girl with an illness that pained her deeply. But he could do nothing to help the child, for all his feathers had long since fallen off. The angel cursed both himself and the cruelty of the world. The resulting hatred stained his body and his wings, turning them both black as night. Then, crying, he brought his hands to the girl's neck.   Asteria2 Today I have an audience with the king. When I arrive at the Castle, I see my husband walking out of the throne room. His fearless gaze makes him look like a legendary hero, but his smile as he passes by me is the toothy grin of a demon. He pats me on the shoulder, and continues to walk toward the gates. I hear a scream from the castle, and an explosion of shouts and fighting at the gates. On my shoulder is a bloody handprint, and it was then I knew I had just passed by my new king of Hyrule.   Shinzo’s Staff The Staff was known for the intense pain it inflicted upon its victims. This is what drove the man to carry it despite its weight, for he knew it would make others fear him, and thus could he avoid needless conflict. The man's reputation spread through the village despite never having drawn the blade. "Don't make him use that horrid weapon." the villagers whispered. The man smiled at this, for he knew that fear was the best path to peace. Soon, the man forged a host of similar weapons. He gave them to all the other villagers in hope it would force people to solve conflicts with words instead of violence. And his plan worked...for a while. Keeping all sides in check is simple when no one uses their power. But once that seal is broken, the end is nigh. Thus did the peaceful village transform itself into a living hell over the space of a single night.   Asteria3 I'll never forget the time we met. I knew ours was a love that would last for eternity. But even when by his side, his feelings were a mystery. It was painful not to know what he was thinking. So painful. When I was close, I hurt him. Yet being distant hurt him more. I finally found my place in life. A place where I am as close as possible, yet eternally distant.   Asteria as Child One day, a young girl's village was sacked by bandits. To protect her family, she took up the sword her father had earned as a knight and killed one of them, an act that shocked her family. Seeing her talent, her family strictly trained her, even to the point of great frustration, isolation, and illness. Five years passed. Then ten. Then twenty. With no one to turn to, she finally left her village and began to wander the earth as a knight, visiting many strange lands in the process. As the years passed, her skill and fame as a master swordfighter grew to legend. A powerful weapon, and boundless experience---she used these talents to become queen of a nation. And yet, there was emptiness in her life, for she still desired the kindness her family denied her after that fateful day.
