The Outer Reaches

Overview

Mainly characterized by its harsh climate, the Outer Reaches is a place of magic and danger. Only those races magical or specialized enough can thrive among its deserts, heat vents and volcanoes, and dense jungles. Visitors are few and far between, which was even the case long before the Five Point Authority started warning against tourism here.

Settlements

Because the Outer Reaches is a conglomeration of ancient settlements, there is no unified government in the country. Instead, as the rest of Lain-Lethor grew more populated, the rulers of each civilization agreed to defend one another and promised certain exclusive trading rights. ORCS There is a large number of orcs call the Outer Reaches home, who primarily live near the Chasm to the south in the town of Blackwater. Surrounding villages in the semi-arid, heat-vent strewn desert comprise a thriving orc community; one of the only ones in the world. GIANTS The only city of giants on the continent, Vargith, is situated in a petrified forest along the northern shore. Many types of giants have chosen to make a home here, and though it's strange for the average-sized visitor, Vargith is a relatively peaceful and pleasant coastal city. There is currently a great deal of dissent against the Five Point Authority brewing here, due to claims of enslaved giants in Collome. GENASI Various elementals call the Outer Reaches home, with clans of each type settling in the most extreme environments. The volcanic ridges along the Horn Archipelago are cozy for the fire clan, while the southern craggy mountains are desirable for the air genasi. The jungles across the country's center are the domain of the earth clan, and the underwater kingdom of Mara'thea is home to a thriving city of water elementals. KUO-TOA The neighbors of the water genasi, the Kuo-Toa are a reclusive fishlike people who revere false gods. They hold a strange and unknowable power over reality, which many would like to exploit.
