Hairy Hill
Overview
Hairy Hill is just that: one large hill. If Borea-Malun’s borders allowed, it would be considered the highest peak in the Hills of Sonder (still not very high, but very large). It is covered in long, billowing grass and interrupted by skylights, which give a glimpse into the underground city. The grass has strange properties and screams if cut. At the top of the Hill is a small tower in which the Governor lives and defends her state. Hill-crafted ranged weapons are second-to-none, though somewhat difficult to use mechanically. Trebuchets, catapults, and compound bows are among the Hillites favorite weapons. Despite its proximity to Fredensborg and Borea-Malun, the Hill is distinctly against the Five-Point Authority. It is the only state with no ROOK presence. It must be crossed to reach any of the other northern states.Governor
Governor Alberta, or Princess Alberta the Small, is… something. She’s not forthcoming about her race or her community, though her hospitality is impressive. She believes in manners and is quick to offer tea, as long as she doesn't feel used or threatened. An assassin’s teapot is her favorite weapon. A three-foot-tall bundle of hair, it doesn’t seem like this creature would be able to stand against the Authority. She can. We promise. In the event of the Princess' death, a new Hillite will ascend the Hill and take her place and title (after the necessary ritual dance around the body). The Princess of the Hill is always named Alberta, and her station is marked by a small bow tied to the top of her head. Each Princess Alberta is remarkably similar to the last, with some speculating that they are all the same entity that shares memories among itself.City Layout
While Princess Alberta rules from a small tower atop the Hill, the city proper is underground. Many concentric rings are dug into the earth below the ground. These rings are dotted with shops, market stalls, and homes for the small, carefree populace to live in. A fountain at the Bottom, the Hill's lowest layer, provides a quick exit to the tower aboveground, though no one is exactly sure how that works.Populace
The Hillites are their own race of creature. Roughly three feet tall and covered in long, silky hair, no one knows exactly what the rest of them look like. They speak in a high-pitched, unintelligible language of jabbers and squeaks, though using Comprehend Languages and other such spells will yield a certain level of understanding. Interestingly, quite a few of the members of the city speak a level of broken Common, as well as a few other languages. Though Princess Alberta claims a city population of 500,000 Hillites, only about 5,000 are ever seen at a time. This is somewhat concerning. She also claims to want to grow her city's population to one million. This is also concerning. The Hillites live in a communal society with no money or trade. They take and give freely. Their pastimes are few, including dancing, visits to community resources, and eating strange food taken from the cave walls.
