Scorpion Cove

Scorpion Cove is located four hours to the west of Myrtle on Volat, within the Pelago Islands. The cove has sharp rocks and even sharper coral. The sandy beach is scattered with jarred rocks, some quite hidden, while others are clearly visable. Visitors who want to access the ocean for swimming, fishing or to get into boats are advised to bring a pair of boots to avoid being cut by the rocks.

Hidden is the sands are crabs as well as various sizes of scorpions, that creep through the grasses. The cove's water is known to be home to a number of swordfish and hammerhead sharks.

The cove can usually prove some protection from the prevailing westerlies, but the swell during the rougher storms might enter the anchorage, making for rough seas and sleepless nights.

An old pier leads out into the water, but it is ricketty and worn. Underneath grows giant kelp and eel grass.

The trail over into the cove is completely exposed. It is rather steep decent. Various foxes, Sea Lions and numerous birds linger near the thin trail. The trail is overgrown in some places and a lot of fox poop on the trail.

The Emerald Cave is fairly unseen opening into a deep water filled cave. The water looks so green of emeralds. Only small rowboats can fit inside.

History

The water filled Emerald Cave was known to be used by smugglers, to hide treasure on the ledges.
