    The Alyssennes

    Current lady
The only member of House Alyssenne left alive is Lady Annabelle Alyssenne. She is currently 25 years old, and since she has initiated Courtship Rituals, she is expected to bond with her chosen suitor by the end of the year. Since powerful mages like her can expect to live for several centuries, she would not naturally be expected to have children before a long time, but her circumstances as the last of her House—and the pressure exerted by her advisers—might change her mind.
    Annabelle's grandparents
Lord Mathieu Alyssenne and Lady-Consort Joséphine Alyssenne. Both were highly respected members of the imperial nobility and leaders of the Light political faction. After the near disappearance of House Lyrienne, the traditional leader of the Dark faction, Lord Matthieu practically ruled over the entire empire.   The sudden return of Lord Véridice Lyrienne upset many, and not only because of his parents' bad reputations. When Lord Matthieu and Lady-Consort Joséphine died under mysterious circumstances soon afterwards, everyone unsurprisingly blamed the new Lord Lyrienne.
    Annabelle's parents
Lord Justinien Alyssenne and Lady-Consort Léonie Alyssenne. Both were killed by Lord Lyrienne 25 years ago when Annabelle was only a few months old. Lady-Consort Léonie was a skilled master crafter but a commoner, and their bonding shocked many in the empire, as it took away from House Alyssenne the opportunities of forming a strong alliance with another Light House—something they now direly need.   Lord Justinien was known to be a mischievous young man who had little care for properties and serious business. While he was well appreciated by members of his generation, his elders all dearly hoped that he would settle down before inheriting the lordship and the head of the Light political faction. Unfortunately, the sudden death of his parents did not allow for this, and his own subsequent murder a few months later did not let him the time to shine.
    Annabelle's great-great-grandparents
Lady Hortense Alyssenne . She is known to have established marriage bonds with a partner she did not choose with Courtship Rituals. The partner turned out to be bad and she had to assassinate them to get rid of them since marriage bonds cannot be undone. Her story is now used as a warning in the Alyssenne family.

    Low Nobility

    The Nolanes
The Nolanes used to rule a small Estate millennia ago before it was assimilated into the Alyssenne Estate, making them part of the low nobility. Since then, they have traditionally been advisers to House Alyssenne.   The current leader of the House of Nolane is Adrien Nolane. After the death of Lord Matthieu Alyssenne and his consort and the disappearance of their heiress, Adrien was the one who took control of the Estate with the help of a few allies. He led it for 15 years until Annabelle's return, after which he became her main adviser and tutor and her representative with the master crafters of the Estate.   Adrien looks old and frail, but he has a great strength of character. He is a strong believer in tradition and proper etiquette and rarely deviates from true and proven methods. However, he is also convinced of his own worth and that of House Alyssenne and does not stand for either to be disrespected.
Age: old; Skin: pale; Eyes: light blue; Hair: long, grey; Appearance: old and frail, with a lined face; Politics: Light; Line-gift: Unknown; Power level: low nobility.

    Commoners

    The Watrons and Sélinons
The Watrons are the birth family of Lady-Consort Léonie, and so her bonding into the House of Alyssenne has brought both the Watrons and their in-laws, the Sélinons, into prominence. Both families count many skilled master-crafters despite low levels of magical powers, and they are now often chosen by their colleagues as political representatives.
  • Goodwoman Béatrice Watron was a first-degree cousin of Lady-Consort Léonie. She used that connection to become one of the leaders of the Estate after Lord and Lady Alyssenne were murdered up until the return of Annabelle.
  •   Afterwards, she became one of her close advisers and her representative with the common people of the Estate. Béatrice is a strong-minded individual who has little care for niceties and bowing to her "superiors". She also cares little for politics and instead focuses on the economic well-being of the Estate and of its people.
Age: 53; Skin: pale; Eyes: blue; Hair: pale hair, usually worn in a long braid; Appearance: tall with a strong frame; Politics: Light; Line-gift: None; Power level: practically non-magical.

  • Goodwoman Clémentine Watron was a second-degree cousin to Lady-Consort Léonie and so was not as close to power as her cousin Béatrice. Nowadays, she is close to Béatrice but not to Annabelle. She is a master crafter specialised in embroideries.
  •
  • Goodman Florian Sélinon is a second degree cousin to Béatrice Watron. He is a crafter specialised in woodwork and he has used his relationship with Béatrice to gain influence among other crafters. He is now not only one of their representatives at the commoners' assembly, but he is also one of its very vocal leaders. His politics focus on advocating for fairer compensations for the common workers, especially for those like him with no magic.
