A collection of city-states that spans across the entire western half of the North American continent.
Geography
Not a lot to see here other than sand, as all the plantlife was wiped out through a mysterious plague during The Apocalypse. Ruins are scattered across the landscape, a stark reminder of what the world once was. The most unique landmark, Hades Rift, was created during the Final World War by demons tearing the earth apart through a hell portal.
Natural Resources
Relatively stripped of all natural resources, the only thing left to glean from the earth is Soul Metal, a peculiar metal that was discovered in the Hades River after the hell portal was closed.
History
The primary battleground of the Final World War, The Free West was torn apart in more ways than just one. Throughout the war, portals to both the celestial and hell dimensions opened up all across the continent as strange plagues swept across the land and extraterrestrial forces intervened in favor of one side or another. Nobody is quite sure of all the details of this chaotic mess, but the aftermath left the west a barren wasteland. However, humanity could not be exterminated so easily. Within just a few short decades, villages began forming, then towns, then cities, and eventually the city-states of today blossomed from the sand. While the west is still a hellscape, it has hope now of a re-emerging society. Assuming The Catholic Nation doesn't crush the budding civilization first.
