The Conflict

Prelude

The war started with the arrival of celestial and demonic races via otherworldly portals to fight each other over control of our world. The Catholic church split into two factions: one of which helped fund the US to help research methods of destroying the alien races, while the other accepted the celestials as heavenly beings and were sure that this was the Apocalypse foretold in the bible. A race of extraterrestrials known as the fraal split into factions as well, joining all sides of the war and providing their advanced alien tech.

Outcome

Nobody truly "won" the war, as it destroyed most of the worlds civilizations and inhabitants. Most of the otherworldly creatures that still lived returned through their home planes through the portals, shutting the interdimensional doors behind them.
