Guild Alert! Signs of ritual magic in the capital!

Written by Madame Solène de Nivers for the rune guild.
    By decree of the senate, an urgent situation has been declared in the capital over signs of runaway ritual magic detected during the night of the 10711 new year. All citizens are required to be on high alert and to report any suspicious activity they witness. Moreover, as members of the rune guild, we have been tasked with watching for the more subtle signs of runaway ritual magic so that we can help the army hone in on the crazy traitors responsible before they destroy half of the capital again.  
 

Signs of danger

  Several signs betray the accumulation of magic in the area in proximity of powerful rituals:  
  • Air warming: with our vision blurring as heat waves rise in the air.
  • Artefact misfiring: dysregulation of the precise tuning of magical artefacts.
  • Static magic: felt on the skin, and can be confirmed by sparks appearing when 2 fingers are held close together.
  • Time dilatation: time appears to slow down as our senses sharpen.
  • Thunder: when static magic continue to built up, it ends up releasing towards the sky as dangerous thunder. By then, it is probably already too late.
  • Balls of raw magic: falling down from the sky and destroying everything on its way.

    What to do if you notice these signs

     
  • Denounce: immediately contact the army and Ritual Hunters.
  • Deflect: use a rod to discharge the excess of magic from the atmosphere into the earth.
  • Defy: if safe to do so, confront the dangerous individuals responsible and contain them.
  • Disrupt the runic diagram tracing on the ground to disrupt the ritual and prevent further build-up of magic.

    How to avoid all dangers

     
  • No rituals: Do not get involved with any ritual magic!
  • No Dark mages: Do not frequent any Dark mages!
  • No tolerance: Immediately denounce anyone or anything even slightly suspicious!

    Before they destroy half the capital *again*. The exasperation of how you worded that and your choice to italicize that last word is just....chef's kiss. I can feel the irritation, fear, and general just....'we are so done with these people's shite!' in that tone.   And I love the cute like WHMIS style symbols for all the dangers, so good. So good.

    Yes ma'am! I love the pamphlet style, with its little dose of propaganda. I'm impressed by how much information you get across so concisely.

    Interesting concept! The list of signs for the magic was cool, especially the time dilation. I loved the intro and how well the narrator's voice came through.

    Thanks :D Madame de Nivers (the narrator) is very tired with having to deal with all the stupid mages in the guild and having her life constantly threatens by their incompetence XD I also had fun coming up with those signs of ritual magic building up and the dread everyone is going to feel as soon as they recognise them XD
