Guild notice—Warning about the exposure to runaway ritual magic

Following the confusion and misguided opinions some of our rune guild members have recently expressed regarding areas contaminated with runaway ritual magic, our Lady Director has decided to publish a reminder of the guild policy regarding them.   We all know that all rituals have been made illegal because of their dangerous unstable magic and that each time they have run out of control, the consequences have been disastrous—and I am sure I need not refer you back to the children's Bad Ritual song to remind you of the facts surrounding the destructions of Esteille and the Garna Forest.   Yet, many of you seem to think that all consequences are in the past, or worst, that pilgrimages to those places during magical surges caused by astral movements can have beneficial effects. Let us immediately correct this glaring mistake.

Effects of exposure

Beneficial effects
The higher concentrations of magic in the soil & air of contaminated places ensures a quicker replenishment of its inhabitants' magical reserves that always let them feel very energised & optimistic without due causes.   Temporary surges can have a similar euphoric & mildly addictive sensation to candied magic, & so lead to antisocial & reckless behaviours.

Negative effects
The high levels of contaminated magic cause mood swings, memory problem, sleep troubles, & magical surges that makes delicate acts of magic difficult.   Temporary surges increase cellular replication, which has a rejunivative effect but often leads to mutations & so to cancers or explosion of microrganism population i.e. to diseases.

What to do?

Mitigation
The effects can partially be fought with purification rituals. All illegal now, of course, but non-ritual purifications work just as well, no matter what Dark mages say—or used to say before being Dark was banned too!

Avoidance
The best choice remains to avoid all contaminated areas, especially those that where ground zero to a runaway ritual like the Garna Forest or Old Esteille neighbourhood—don't believe the propaganda realtors try to feed you!

Remember to leave dealing with these areas to trained professionals such as our ingredient procurers and don't humiliate the guild by falling for all the propaganda about their so-called safety!

The fact that the effects can be somewhat mitigated with purification rituals - only to be told they're all illegal now - gave me a good laugh.

Thanks for the comment :D Yes those damn Light mages, always taking away the good magic :( But that's a perfect recruiting argument for the Dark Lord :p

I know that pamphlet about the Old Esteille Neighborhood was fishy!

Well, technically Old Esteille nowadays is a bit of refuge for Dark mages, while here you've got Light mages' propaganda instead, so who to believe? :p   Thanks for the comment :D
