The Far North

The north pole of Corive where the North Ice myths take place - where land is supposedly being sunken into a whirlpool. No one knows if there is truth to the story, only that aspects have been passed through the generations.

The origin of the myth has been hard for most historians trying to uncover the Thydian history from before the Adrakian Empire.

So far, no one has reached the northern most point of Corive - or no one has come back. Reports of weather acting "odd" from sailors who have tried to sail in the North Sea near the largest iceburgs have warded away careless explorers.

The weather never makes sense up there - always storming, but you're warm or the sky is sparking lightning and freezing at the same time. I don't sail any closer than I have to.

The greatest lure for exploring the Far North is generally ice floes carrying structures debated between natural formation and signs of civilization. As most who go up trying to find the structures are warned away due the currents and size of the iceburghs, there hasn't been much exploration.

I once tried my hand - and I swear a kraken reached up tried to swipe at my ship. And then there's the Dark Ice we had to navigate. No one's insane enough to risk their only way back home.

This place sounds amazing. Terrifying, but amazing. I wonder if there's any truth to the myths. I'm also curious if there really were civilisations.

While leaving it up to other GMs if I ever get around to looking at marketing the setting, I do know the answer for the version of Corive I use for campaigns and am glad to hear questions wondering at the truth.
