General Aramis

General Aramis Donadieu

Aramis was quite the madlad. Brilliant strategist. Brilliant as both a sniper and assault trooper, although he had to take "psycho drugs" to perform so well (which would become common practice, largely because of the knowledge that he used them) and ultimately suffered from serious health problems in the long run, such as liver+stomach cancer, that led to him taking the fun but still awful kind of drugs and overdosing due to the sheer agony he constantly felt. But hey, at least he had an incredible sense of humour and could make just about anyone laugh once he got to know them a little.

That said, "psycho drugs", as they're known, turn off the users empathy, switch off emotions like fear in favour of cold calculation, speed up the brain's analysis of information (which is a funny way of saying it makes things look like they're happening slower to the user), reduce pain and cause a sense of distance from the emotions afterwards so that soldiers perform better in combat and are less likely to suffer from PTSD afterwards (not the thing those who put soldiers on these drugs care about) and ensures they're still cognitively functional afterwards rather than asking themselves "what have I done?" while staring at their hands because half the people they killed in that last battle were actually 14-year-olds or anything along those lines. Sounds cool except for how these are terrible for the user's long-term health, such as increasing the odds of getting literally every kind of cancer.

Extremely good shot, good actor, funny, brilliant at parkour, brilliant at hand-to-hand combat, good with knives, good at wilderness survival, brilliant strategist.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

In France, his mother found herself pregnant with him when she was 19, 2 months after being released from juvenile detention for the homicide of her parents, which she committed when she was 13.

She decided to follow an example set by her parents, being to emotionally neglect Aramis, as well as to both physically and psychologically abuse him. This continued until his limping was noticed by a teacher at his école (primary school/elementary school) when he was 8, at which point he was moved into foster care. In foster care, he suffered bullying and beatings from the older children and was sexually+physically abused by the woman running the foster home when he was 12 due to her finding his green eyes attractive and his quiet nature a sign that he was an easy target.

He stabbed said woman in the stomach when he was 12, by which point he'd made a habit of beating up his bullies. When the circumstances of his actions were revealed, he was moved into juvenile detention until he was 13 while the woman faced a 5-year sentence, reduced to 6 months through parole. The foster home had churned through 5 foster carers since the stabbing as they'd all quit for sanity-maintaining purposes, although Aramis would never return to see that.

Of course, this meant he was perfect to be picked up by a secret branch of the French Armed Forces that worked in close cooperation with the GDSE (French intelligence services. Kind of like the CIA). He was specially trained for many areas of combat, survival, languages etc and then used to annoy/penetrate criminal organisations (*spits coffee* Alex Rider ripoff!? N-no!), that France had interests in knowing about or sabotaging such as the Cornish Liberation Army (the events of the Bad Education movie and show are canon within this universe). His true shining was in combat, as he was a fairly good actor at best (able to fool 90% of people in any scenario, which isn't usually enough when infiltrating large groups) and so at 18 he was enrolled into the French military, where the training before officially joining was a formality in which he excelled, before being officially (he already was before) put into Special Operations Command (Commandement des Opérations Spéciales if you wanna be posh about it).

SOC then yeeted him into The Arctic/Antarctic War, where he whooped ass left and right until 2028, when he was 24, when the Goners (3-4 foot tall lizard/velociraptor people) suddenly showed up in South Africa.

He harassed Goner forces and provided info to the EU Combined Forces for the duration of the Goner Conquest of Africa before doing the same in Europe as they conquered that, during which he helped in the movement of resources, weapons and people to Britain so that they wouldn't be in Goner hands. He fought on the human side in more or less every major battle during this, and rose the ranks up to expertly coordinating hundreds of troops at a time.

When he crossed the Channel into Britain with a fleet of refugees and stolen Goner technology and explained everything, complete with video confirmation of his acts, he was allowed control over a small portion of the UK's inflated military forces, which actually consisted mostly of non-British Africans and Europeans. He then micro-managed the hell out of everything, fueled by nothing but black coffee and a complete disregard for his personal health, and made his forces gangsta AF.

When he got the entirety of the military afterwards he just gave his way of doing things as a blueprint to those further down the chain of command and replaced anyone who wasn't willing or able to put in the effort, which meant a massive turnover for several months before Aramis launched his counter-attack against the Goners (up to now it was just raids by the British to wear down the Goners, 1-sided-for-humanity naval engagements and backing up the Danes when their wall was attacked) but ultimately resulted in all the most brilliant strategists being in the perfect position to strategise while everyone else either worked in producing stuff or was in the front lines.

With this and Goner-human hybrid technology/weapons, the British Armed Forces swept through Western Europe, with Denmark taking the East, followed by Africa. He timed it perfectly. The Goners were worn down from fighting Russia, China, India and the Nordic Union, at the same time as dealing with insurgents, and were already being pushed back by this point and it was right at that time that he swept in with his own, completely un-worn-down forces to form the United Commonwealth.

He became a political figure, despite not wanting to be that involved in politics, with his main things being that humanity should be as united as possible against the Goners, both at the national and international level. He regularly acted as a voice of reason when things were close to tipping into human vs human wars by reminding everyone that the Goners were definitely on their way. He worked in testing out new weaponry and espionage, specifically the "assassinate this guy for diverting resources from the building up the military to building palaces" type, before he ultimately committed treason by sending blueprints of the best weapons developed by the UCW to every other nation in the world and lost his leg for it.

2 years into all of that, also meaning 2 years after beating Wave 1 of the Goners, he met up with his mother for the first time since he was 8, who actively pretended she had no relation to him to her husband, whom she'd had 2 children, now adults in the very military Aramis commanded, with, and made it clear in private that she had never and still didn't care about him. Several hours after that, he made one of several suicide attempts so far.

Several months later he rushed into a marriage with Inyoni, a woman he'd fought alongside throughout his time in Africa, with whom he had 13 children, to which he was a surprisingly good father by looking through the "how to be the opposite of your mum by Aramis" guidebook. 8 of them would die among the very soldiers Aramis commanded in Wave 2 as he was unwilling to give them promotions that got them behind the lines that they didn't earn, although none were forced to join the military.

When the 2nd wave of Goners showed up, Aramis showed that he hadn't gone rusty in the decade and a half wait with his performance in Antarctica, in which he got to try out many fun new things such as GMO dogs and plasma-armour tracking bullets. The Antarctic Goners were, however, tough as balls and so by the time they were dealt with the rest of the 2nd Invasion had as well by the gangsta tacticians that had risen up in the other militaries of the world. The United Commonwealth now owned Antarctica and all the uranium deposits beneath it, although the Nordic Union ruled the North Pole and its... stuff?

He oversaw the creation of Goner remover 9000 and was present at the signing of the first of 2 human-Goner peace treaties. Inyoni had died in combat. 8 of his kids had died in combat. He was in constant agony from the long-term health effects of the psycho drugs and the injuries he'd suffered in combat. Yeah I can see jokes not covering that.

Sexuality

Heterosexual but felt a little something watching the translated version of Hazbin Hotel when Angel Dust was up to his sexual hijinks if y'know what I mean. Yeah in this world Hazbin Hotel gets season 1 done and then is re-released after the human-Goner war and continued based off of storyboards by Vivziepop of a second season which isn't as good as the first season but still pretty good.

Education

Didn't do too well in school for various reasons, but was always interested in military history, especially the tactics and how weaponry evolved. Trained by the SOC as an agent and soldier.

Employment

Spy, soldier, commander, general.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Set up the United Commonwealth in the military sense, smacked the crap outta 2 Goner invasions, tested out lots of equipment.

Failures & Embarrassments

Was a generally unhappy person, goofed up on quite a few missions, lost some battles to the initial assumption that all Goners are mentally deficient.

Mental Trauma

yikes

Intellectual Characteristics

Very intelligent in tactics and thinking from the viewpoints of others, was able to understand Goner psychology and use that against them.

Morality & Philosophy

He put practicality before emotion and then used jokes to make people feel happy as he made them work 14 hour shifts in munitions factories.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Not knowing what else to do -> saving humanity from enslavement.

Savvies & Ineptitudes

Good at strategy, combat, acting and wilderness survival. Bad at drawing, has bad handwriting and Minecraft architecture.

Likes & Dislikes

Hates spicy food, loves ice cream and would often be denied access to it whenever he screwed up on missions in his espionage days. Loves strategy games and first person shooters.

Virtues & Personality perks

Intelligent, hard-working, ultimately a kind person despite how he often makes fun of others.

Vices & Personality flaws

Drug addict, places very little value on his own and other people's emotions, has a habit of hurting people's feelings in attempts at humour... including the very times when he's trying to cheer them up. Doesn't know what updog is.

Hygiene

"I don't have time to shower I've got a military to micromanage."

Social

Family Ties

Direct ancestor of 2 of the democratically elected rulers of the United Commonwealth.

Religious Views

Atheist.

Social Aptitude

Introverted but good at pretending to be extroverted. Cared little for manners.

Mannerisms

Fiddles with his hair.

Hobbies & Pets

His kids had plenty of pets, all with many of their own interesting stories, including those of how they died.

Speech

Very blunt, almost painful voice in regular conversation but damn those acting skills and when he's pulling a funny OH DAMN THAT'S A SMOOTH VOICE.

Wealth & Financial state

Considering he could've gotten all the money he wanted, living at slightly better than average was pretty humble of him.
