Gravity Assist Belt

Written by Pookas Kreations

This belt was originally created for use with the Explorer's League to help them in the dangerous mountainous terrain. They counteract the pull of gravity on your body by reducing your weight, as if the wearer was in a lower gravity field, even allowing you to act as if the gravity on the surface you were traveling was different than normal (walking up a wall, on the ceiling, etc).

Some of these belts didn't pass quality testing for aggressive field use, so they started being sold to civilians, specifically to the old and infirm. For these users, even a slight reduction in weight, hovering, or slowing a fall would be a boon. One of the problems with these belts is that their batteries don't last as long, so they need to be replaced more often. Sometimes certain functions don't work.

Utility

  • reduces or negates damage from a fall.
  • reduces your weight for stairs or weakened limbs.
  • allows you to hover across the ground as needed.
  • boosted jumps.
  • fly for short periods.

Manufacturing

It can be made of any sturdy material.

Social Impact

When Brightstone Industries started selling them at a reduced price to the old and infirm, they were heralded as philanthropists.

Inventor(s)
Roderick Amos Parkes is a young gnome engineer working for Brightstone Industries, he was tasked with working on helpful items for the Explorer's Guild. He was happily able to fit Gravity Stones , and Skystones as well as the controls all in one belt. It took him months to perfect it but was finally able to present it to his floor supervisor.
Access & Availability
Availability all depends on the money you are willing to pay, the premier model is usually only available to the Explorer's League. Lesser belts are available for 1/2 to 3/4 the price depending on the lesser operational status.
Complexity
For any engineer, it is not very complex once the idea was thought out.
