General Physical Condition
As a man, Caen was a fit, agile warrior, and would have been considred rougishly handsome by most.
In his sword form, Caen resembles a finely made mithral dagger, albeit one that a mouth can open up on.
In his guitar form, Caen very much resembles his old instrument, a darkwood five string acoustical guitar.

Personal history
Caen Borland was born in the city of Dragonspire, in the Kingdom of Harnell. He left his home in 1286 AYD and made his way east, down The Golden Road, adventuring and playing in taverns, making just enough money to survive and stay in drink. After five years, he ended up at the end of the road in Konhabin, faced with turning around, jumping on a ship, or traversing a desert. After spending a night drinking with another bard, swapping stories and the like, he found himself in a strange new place, with a new adventure in front of him: Saving the World.
Joining forces with the other misplaced heroes gathered by Saint Kristoff, he jumped at the chance to adventure and explore The Spire. Unfortuantely, he too often ended up as the first person being attacked by the various monsters, and was eventually slain in the second floor by a bone priest and his undead minions. The party buried him outside The Spire, but this was not to be the end of his story.
The lich Noul'zadan raised both his body and his spirit, giving him a number of new powers and setting him on the job of harassing and killing his former party mates. They would do battle many times, (Session 9, Session 14, Session 20, and Session 21) the party becoming increasingly frustrated with the recurring menance, until they sought the help of Jormez Kerrisk, who was able to help them free Caen's spirit from the Lich, but with limited options at the time, bound it to a dagger, permanently changing the weapon into an intelligent dagger with Caen's soul trapped in it.
