Saint Kristoff gathers five strangers to prevent the destruction of the world by Cthulhu.

Five strangers (Caen Borland, Christie Fastbender, Ermentrude Crisparkle, Guiliman De’ Eblin, and Hans Muhlfeld) share in an odd dream: A great battle taking place around them on an unknown shore, aboleths and other aberrations fighting humans and other mortals, while looming over them, a gigantic Saint Kristoff does battle with Cthulhu. Though the group does battle a single aboleth well, they are all killed, watching as the battle turns worse, and Saint Kristoff falls to one knee, wishing they had more time.   They group awakens on a forest road, and is confronted by Saint Kristoff, who explains that the dream they had was a real vision of the future, and that it would come to pass if they did not get to the bottom of The Spire, and defeat the evil lurking there. Most of the group accepted this, however Trudy (Ermentrude Crisparkle), found that Saint Kristoff resmembled too closely to her liking the Wizard-Kings that plagued her homeland. Kristoff privately explained to Trudy that her mentor, Saint Maggie, had not died, but had been reborn and had already traveled into The Spire on a different quest. This was enough to convince Trudy to go with the rest of the group.   The group followed the road north, eventually finding The Spire. They explored the crumbled keep atop the hill, and did battle with the goblins and dogs inside, though the persistent darkness gave them trouble. They also did battle with a strange golem, powered by a green shard of the spire, named Clanky, and convinced him to abandon the goblins and fight for them. They found their way into broken watchtower of the keep, and defeated the goblin leader there, a ferocious bugbear, and found a bag of magical items (belonging to Jormez Kerrisk).   The group attempted to make camp in the watchtower, but were attacked by undead in the night, and elected to make camp outside the tower.   In the morning, the group headed north up the road, leaving Clanky behind to clean the place up.   They met the halflings of the Ironspine family, and traveled on to Thistlefort. In town, Caen attempted to earn some additional gold with a musical performance, but was hassled by a pair of guards who wanted to sieze his coin for not having a "busking license".   Christie and Hans traveled to The Forest Dragon Inn, where they found the inn to be in need of some improvement. While Hans enjoyed a simple meal, Christie spoke with the owner, Hayden Read, and gave him some gold to fix the place up.   A fight broke out with Caen and Trudy battling the town guards, after Trudy tried to hassle the guards in turn to give her money. This forced the others to intervene, and the group had to flee the town, but Caen had lost his guitar case. They returned to the Ironspine Homestead and stayed the night there.   Waking up the next day, the group traveled with Divram Ironspine to the second closest town, Moorsworth, to try and sell the treasures they had found in The Spire.   They first tried the general store, and learned that they needed licenses to trade goods in town, and were able to purchased forged ones from the owner, Jomtan. Trudy ended up in his backroom after some flirting back and forth, and then the group attacked him and fled the store.   They eventually found their way to The House of Duty, a temple to The Noble, and spoke with the priest there, Quinn Read, who bought their goods and encourged them to come back if they found more, stating he could always use more armor and weapons, though he did not explain why. He also sold them a wand of healing for cost.   Caen also had his guitar repaired and purchased a new case, before they headed back in the evening with Divram.
