Kingdom of Harnell
The Kingdom of Harnell is a human nation founded by the brothers Jodan and Yohan Harnell in 745 BYD.
History
The 2nd day of the 4th month of 746 BYD: The Battle of the Red River takes place. Yohan Harnell stabs Mackroo the Red in the back with the sword Dragonsbane, a gift from the elven commander, Daeron Havidhill. The humans turn on their dragon masters and with the elves, capture or kill any one loyal to The Dragon Queen.
The 3rd day of the 4th month of 746 BYD: The town of Millloft is burned down by The Dragon Queen in retribution for Yohan's rebellion, as it is his hometown. The only survivor is his brother Johan Harnell, who flees into the northern barbarian lands.
The 4th day of the 6th month of 745 BYD: The combined forces of Dwarves, Elves, and Men battle The Dragon Queen and her forces in the foothills of The Stonehaven Mountains. Yohan Harnell slays The Dragon Queen with the sword Dragonsbane.
The 1st day of the 7th month of 745 BYD: Yohan Harnell is formerly named King of the newly formed Kingdom of Harnell. He draws up borders with the Dwarves and Elves, as well as leaving all the lands north of The Giant's Wall for the barbarian tribes, promising peace between their peoples. This formally ends The Brother's War.
The Day of Rebirth, 744 BYD: King Yohan Harnell marries Prescilla, a sorceress and commoner, one of The Dragon Queen's former slaves. Jodan serves as his best man, and many of the heroes of the war attend.
743 BYD: King Yohan Harnell and his brother Jodan quarrel over the intentions of Queen Prescilla. Jodan defeats his brother in a duel, but chooses to spare Yohan's life. Yohan responds with banishing him from the kingdom, telling the world his brother had gone mad and tried to kill him. Jodan retires to the barbarian lands in the north.
740 BYD: King Yohan, believing false intelligence from his advisors that the Jodan intends to rally the barbarians for a southern invasion to steal his throne, decides to invade the north. This starts the Ten Year War.
739 BYD: Jodan comes out of exile to lead the barbarian tribes against his brother. The north declares themselves "The Confederacy of Jodan" and appoint Jodan as their leader, though not as a king, as a war chief. Chief Jodan sends envoys to the Kingdom of Samblar and Stonehaven, encouraging them to recognize the legitimacy of their new government, and imploring them to show his brother sense. Both countries do formally recognize the new country. The next several years see massive losses on both sides.
735 BYD: The Disciples of Mara, who occupy The Giant's Wall, declare themselves independent of both the Kingdom of Harnell and the Confederacy of Jodan. They refuse to allow soldiers through the wall and encourage all who wish to live lives of peace to join them. Till the end of the war, they see an influx of soldiers, mostly from the south, deserting the "pointless" war to join their cause.
730 BYD: Daeron Havidhill gathers both brothers in Dragonspire, imploring them to end the war. Daeron reveals that he has discovered that Prescilla was not all she said she was, and was actually a devoted follower of The Dragon Queen. The brothers set aside their differences and confront Prescilla. Prescilla became violent, and The Dragon Queen resurrected from her body. The trio did battle with her again, and at the end of the battle, only Daeron remained alive. As a final act of defiance, The Dragon Queen shattered the sword Dragonsbane, sending it's pieces flying as far away as she could. With the revelation of the Queen being The Dragon Queen, and the deaths of Yohan and Jodan, the Ten Year war ended, leaving both countries without a proper leader.
