C'avarnia (Ca-var-knee-ah)

The City Among the Heavens

C.R. Eede
Aethel Caeloria, on its own, is the foundation for which the entire kingdom runs from the Summergloss fields to the Myserth Forests and beyond. The capital of Aethel Caeloria is known as C'avarnia, which withholds many places throughout the region. The Great Kingdom holds two strong alliances with the neighbouring houses loyal to the Aalarelai Bloodline, House M'ithai and House Tythal who preoccupy their own regions. Both houses have established their armies and contributions to the royal family, each trading something in return for appropriate resources and protection. As Aethel Caeloria is the primary kingdom, it possesses multiple assets within its city that are significant to its people and the environment, giving the land all the nutrients it needs.   It's a steep climb to reach the city with a rocky incline and falling rocks for effect, but once the top has been reached, a clear pathway with faint white lights float in the air – showing elves to the entrance of C'avarnia. A backdrop of bio-luminescence cascading waterfalls matches its appearance. C'avarnia was built atop the most prominent mountain, Dukran, and is truly an architectural sight. It is a kingdom so serene that many new cultures have left their mark on the kingdom's identity. Historically, it was a realm of little diversity but has grown into a multicultural haven. The kingdom has ten sections within it, holding thousands upon thousands of elves known as; Varcanians. Those sections are the Nelaeryn Springs, Eca Gardens, Dihavanor's Sphere, Dilax Crypt, Varcanai Palace, Filarion Plaza, Miha Ponds, Jujinal Walls, Rhyzeal Stream and the Ca'rthavial Vales. Each of these sections forms an integral part of the kingdom, creating the Great Kingdom, Aethel Caeloria.   The current reigning sovereign of Aethel Caeloria is King Filarion and his wife, Queen Lensa. Their two elflings are Vaeril, successor to the throne, and Zestari, the Seed of the Starlight Veil. The hand of the King is Ralnor Aalarelai, and his son is the Commander of the Varcanai Guard, formerly the Coin Collector.   The Aalarelai Significance: The Aalarelai bloodline is vital to the kingdom's longevity as they are the ruling hand of the people and ensure everything runs smoothly. They also ensure tradelines with other kingdoms are clear and hold the secrets of their ancestor’s past. The royal family are different to the high elves because they have raw starlight running through their veins making them Ca’rthavial elves. The light of the stars course through every inch of their body and provide them with a second sight that allows them to see more than most, especially in the dark. ‘The Sight,’ enables them to look directly into the heart of a star without rendering themselves blind. Nothing compares to the light of a star so if they are ever faced with a situation that requires others to close or cover their eyes, they can walk straight towards it without receiving any harm. They still class themselves as High elves but the correct terminology of their heritage is ‘Ca’rthavial.’ They are named this because they have a direct link to their God, Nelaeryn and raw starlight is stored within Avial gems founded upon the Ca’rthavial Vales. Only the elf’s of the family has a claim to the throne whereas only the elfa’s are the only Seeds to the Starlight Veil. Each gender has a purpose however, the elfa’s job is much more demanding as she must become one with the tree and adhere to its needs.
  • Firstborn Elfa: The Seed of the Starlight Veil
  • Firstborn Elf: Successor to the Throne

Structure

The Varcanai Council: This comprises very few high-ranked elves who oversee issues surrounding the kingdom. These elves are:
  • The King/Prince of Aethel Caeloria
  • The Queen
  • The Advisor of the King (King's kin)
  • Commander of the Varcanai Guard
  • Captain of the Varcanai Guard
  • Coin Collector
  • The D'ivalorth (Guardian of Knowledge)
  • Vythai (Tender of Scrolls)
  • An Elder of Claritas
  • The High Priestess or High Priest of the Virtuous Order
  • Lead Varcanai Healer
  • House M'ithai Representative
  • House Tythal Representative
  • Two Scribes
All elves converge at the Kings command to resolve outstanding problems and negotiate with outsiders. These council sessions can last from a few hours to an entire day, depending on how much needs to be discussed. Each elf in this council has been elected or is compelled to attend due to their rank in the kingdom. The people recognise council members by the medallions they wear. They must also wear the appropriate attire relevant to their position. The council is of high importance within the walls of the Varcanai Palace and is highly respected for their work to improve the kingdom.   The council convenes in the Varcanai Palace throne room. It's almost rare for a council session not to have a heated debate as the issues discussed are often serious, lack subjection, or can be incredibly controversial. Only the King or Prince can end a session, but ensure all matters have been resolved beforehand. Diplomatic approaches and political manipulation can sometimes occur when the council is in session.

Culture

The Culture of Aethel Caeloria: The royal bloodline of Aalarelai is enriched by the knowledge of the Starlight Veil, which has helped the elven folk to develop their own cultures and customs. To make the kingdom more diverse, during special occasions, other races can explore the city. Unless they have a long-term trade to offer, they cannot permanently reside within C'avarnia.   The Kingdom of Aethel Caeloria is a safe nation, renowned for its initial compulsory military service and practice in medicinal healing. The hard-working population of 375,000 Varcanians are known throughout all the kingdoms for their work ethic and starlight preservation. Its relatively small, moralistic council juggles the competing demands of its people, their welfare, external negotiations and the defence of the kingdom. The strong kingdom pays for its trade-in gemstones, which is diversified, but also receives major contributions from other kingdoms including, tailored attire, food and drink, construction tools and even finances that are evenly distributed between the people of Aethel Caeloria. Crime in the kingdom is low as the compulsory military service sees that the young receive the discipline and life morals necessary to become valued members of society. Most of the high elves within the walls of Aethel Caeloria share similar characteristics and are often averse to the outside world. The culture is both dynamic and fairly learned, however, its traditional culture is one the High Elves truly follow. However, high elves do have the choice to adapt to more modern cultures if they see fit. Its traditional culture was the belief that the ‘Starlight Veil must endure preserving our life,’ as addressed by their god; Nelaeryn.   A culture of stability, resilience and authentic beliefs. It is known to keep the fairest and wisest of any Elven race within its walls and while the elves physically age at a slower rate and are not subject to illness, they can be affected by extreme negative emotion. However, if the Starlight Veil falls ill, the elves will lose their exceptional immunity and become vulnerable to disease. Aethel Caeloria is widely known for its healing properties, knowledge guardianship, and exceptional dual-spear combat. With the best healers throughout the kingdom, other races travel far to receive the unique healing properties of the highly talented Varcanai Healers. Using the rare saer properties of the Starlight Veil’s stream, the Varcanai Healers conduct miraculous healing on the worst of injuries. They can even heal amputees and provide them with a new limb, granted and formed by the Starlight Veil.   Native Citizens: The Native High Elven Citizens are known as 'Varcanians,' which are high elves. Many positions also take up the title of 'Varcanai.' For example, the Varcanai Guard, The Lead Varcanai Healer etc. The high elves are lean, athletic, radiant, and tall, each with the knowledge and mental capability of ten thousand. These elves are the beauty of the kingdom and have the most distinct faces. Their pointy ears are as sharp as the end of a blade and their eyes are as intense as the stars themselves. Their eyes are crepuscular giving them the ability to see during twilight. Their mesmerising cheekbones are what separates them from the rest of the world as faint rays of light emit from underneath, alerting them to both distant and immediate danger. Their psyche is both orphic and logical, which creates a near-perfect balance. They come across as highly empathetic but can sometimes lack sympathy, which can make them both emotional, sometimes cold, and passionate beings. High elves are often averse to other races and tend to keep themselves isolated to preserve themselves and all they hold dear. Furthermore, they are not to be tampered with because they are trained from a young age in hand combat, spear combat and swordplay to eliminate anything that could be deemed a threat to their kingdom and its people.   The royal bloodline is often referred to as the 'Ca'rthavial' (light) elves because it translates into, 'all that is light and pure.' Ca'rthavial Vales is a sacred cliff overseeing the ocean and bears the clearest view to see all the stars in their full glory. Directly above the cliff are the three stars of the kingdom, The Caelorian Avialgeontrix, the Mydha, and Athominia. The cliff is surrounded by small light-filled gems, known as 'Avial Gems,' which are the brightest in all the lands and the most precious to Aethel Caeloria.

Assets

Each kingdom section is named after a King of Aethel Caeloria in honour of their service to the crown. Their god has a section of the kingdom named after him and his sacred monument too. The kingdom's capital is known as C'avarnia, which is a central point. There are eleven sections to the kingdom and many more assets:
Nelaeryn Springs: From the NE to the SE of the kingdom are the steamy springs of the Hyphicen and Hydraen. This is an exclusive part of the kingdom that only the Aalarelai bloodline can access. The Hyphicen are highly territorial and make that clear through the warning of their antlers. The Hydraen within are easily spooked, and the Hyphicen does not behave kindly to the likes of strangers in their territory, especially where their offspring reside.   Dilax Crypt: This is located underneath the palace and is known as the 'Caelorian Vault.' Caede Galair's rocky walls surround it, and the ground of the vault is merely clear shallow water. There is barely any light in the vault, but the water emits a reflective shimmer, which lights up the room enough to see the walls on the other side of the room. In the centre of the darkroom is a stone stand with a book placed on it. The book is known as 'The Caelorian Annals,' and only the Aalarelai bloodline can access it. Either the King, Queen, Prince or Princess can read the annals. To anyone else, the ink used would be too bright for them to read, making it exclusive for the Aalarelai bloodline. Specific memories can be accessed by the individual and spiritually relived.   Varcanai Palace: The Royal Palace is located at the front of the kingdom and acts as the entrance. The palace of the domain has a large stone arch underneath it where the opening of the kingdom stands, and then the rest of the palace fills a part of the Jujinal Wall. The gate of the kingdom bears two sections to it: The saer gates and the wien barricade. When the city is under attack, the wien doors slam down into the ground, providing an additional layer of protection against outside forces.   Miha Ponds: They are the ponds and gardens surrounding the Starlight Veil. The Miha ponds are surrounded by a saer stream that blossoms with Caelorian nature filled with refined starlight inside. The ponds surround the Starlight Veil and provide peace of mind and 'fuel' for the tree's existence. It's a circle that enables the tree's growth, and the tree ensures the ponds remain healthy with the mystical abilities it infuses into its waters. The Starlight Veil also ensures the nature of the pond remains in good condition for each season of the year.   Jujinal Wall: Located around the kingdom, and is the rocky layer protecting everything within. On the outside of the wall stands the Varcanai guard, protecting the city within with their unique staffs. The wall surrounds the entire kingdom and delves deep into the mountain, ensuring stability. There is no mystical ability to the wall, just that its rock-like formation ensures the citizens of Aethel Caeloria remain protected and that its walls are effectively impenetrable to outside forces unless mass force in the same spot is utilised.   The Starlight Veil: Located directly in the kingdom's centre is the autumn-blazed maple tree, which is the kingdom's official and most sacred monument. The God, Nelaeryn, planted an Avial Gemstone of immense power within the core of the Starlight Veil. This tree's saer stream provides miraculous healing properties and can only communicate through the Seed, the firstborn daughter of the reigning sovereign.   The Seed of the Starlight Veil: This is the firstborn daughter of the reigning sovereign. Only elfa's can claim this role because of the former sacrifice made during the War of Faiths.   The Sacrifice:
  • The 1st daughter of every Aalarelai bloodline must transfer their lifeforce to the tree to ensure its longevity if placed in immediate fatal danger.
  • Through transferring the daughter's lifeforce, she will Passover into death, providing life for the kingdom of Aethel Caeloria and overseeing its endurance once more.
  • The tree reminds the royal family of its duty by infusing autumn blazed hues into the tips of their firstborn daughter's hair. It is both a blessing and a curse.
  • The Starlight Veil is a sacred part of Aethel Caelorian culture, preserving all elf life.
The Historical Significance of the Starlight Veil: During the War of Faith, the Starlight Veils roots served as a fighting companion for all High Elves fighting on the frontline. Its roots would delve through the ground and strike the hearts of those who dared oppose its people. Through its mystical capabilities, it materialised the Caelorian Queen's from its saer stream. These Queen's were faceless but had elven body figures and heightened power. These warriors would do everything within their power to protect the Seed of the Starlight Veil as they knew her life would be detrimental to the tree's longevity and that she likely wouldn't be able to defend herself as an innocent elfling.   Dihavanor Sphere: These architectural structures are located around the Starlight Veil, forming a sphere when extended and set themselves in place, protecting the tree at night. This only happens at night or when imminent danger lurks close by. These structures are comprised of the strongest stone but patterned in white marble. This is the only moving structure throughout the entire kingdom that is the last line of physical defence for the Starlight Veil.   The Community of Varcanai: To the sides of Dihavanor's Sphere are two sets of staircases that descend into the mountain's core. These staircases always remain open unless danger is nearby or war is on the horizon. This is where the households of the kingdom reside. Homes for the elves of Aethel Caeloria are carved deep into the mountain, allowing plenty of room to roam and socialise with the neighbours. Magma is not an issue as the mountain is drained of it from the bottom, courtesy of Myserth Hall and their blacksmithing utilities. Within the community is also the Varcanai Guard barracks.   Filarion Plaza: The North of the kingdom is the marketplace of Aethel Caeloria. This is where the traders and establishments of Aethel Caeloria reside. The buildings are as exquisite as the kingdom itself. During the day, the Filarion Plaza is the most active because it's where the market is, and travellers come from afar to see what the High elves can offer and how they can negotiate in trade. It is also where the most multi-culturalism can be found as elves learn of different races. The Ivory Orchid, Freedom's Pass and Haven of Solaris reside here.   The Ivory Orchid Tavern: Crest: The crest of the tavern is of a large marble white orchid with a blackthorn sticking out the side. The only tavern set-up within the kingdom sells brews, snacks, and beverages. All elves, including travellers, are welcome. The high elves running the establishment are very close friends who treat each other with the utmost respect and family. The atmosphere is welcoming, and it bears an accepting vibe to it from dawn till dusk. Each bartender goes above and beyond for others. The game, 'Mendax', is also played here, which the locals and outsiders love to play. However, Mendax can only be played during special occasions as gambling is prohibited and considered unsophisticated to the high elven culture. Those who lose their money while playing must pay a third of their winnings/losings to the tavern as a kind gesture.   Bartenders of the Ivory Orchid:
  • L’aithe Mitavain: Head of the Tavern
  • Mytha Torva: Deputy Head
  • Armadetta Singreta: Head Chef
  • Hayze Tythal: Bartender
  • Otis Harlin: Bartender
  • Mortas: Bartender
  • Nylla Necta: Bartender
  • Virai Tai: Bartender
Freedoms Pass: The 'Elders of Claritas' are responsible for bringing justice to minimal and average crimes within this establishment. There are only three elders within this establishment: • Kornephorus Hercul • Zosma Ole • El' Nath Suruat.   The Elders of Claritas wear white and silver tunics with black boots and a stag brooch made of avial gemstones to present their significance to the rest of the kingdom. They discuss the crime committed between them and pass judgment with the reigning King's permission. While their punishments are often harsh, they are often necessary to preserve peace within the kingdom's walls. Found within Filarion Plaza, Freedom's pass takes the form of a predominantly white, black, and silver structure standing on a square plinth and consisting of a symmetrical building with an arched shaped doorway. The roof of the building is that of a dome, and within the building, itself are intricately painted walls of an untold story that no one other than the King knows about.   The Haven of Solaris: Within this building is known as 'The Virtuous Order' that passes on information of immorality to the kingdom's council, who will then present that information to the King, then finally the Elders of Claritas. While the Elders are below the King, they have power enough to convict those who have committed unlawful crimes. Found within the Filarion Plaza, their establishment is called 'The Haven of Solaris.' Within the Haven of Solaris are 200-300 priests and priestesses that worship Nelaeryn to a minimal extent but wholly abide by his teachings. The two leaders of this order are The High Priest Nuvas and the High Priestess, Satai. To differentiate them from the other priests and priestesses, they both wear dark purple velvet robes with silver embroidery on their collars. Everyone else wears dark purple cotton robes. The Haven of Solaris takes the form of a 3-tiered rectangular building. Positioned two buildings away from Freedom's pass, it is just as magnificent to gawk at. Carved around the outline of the structure are the name days of each Prince and Princess of Aethel Caeloria dating back to 2999 NE. Inside the building, it is vast, and there are stone stairs that circle the inside of the building to many rooms that priests and priestesses would venture into where they would come across ancient teachings and lessons.   Eca Gardens: Located from the NW to the W is the kingdom's gardens. The Eca Gardens are the most beautiful throughout the kingdom. It is vastly filled with the nature of the mountains, where a calm state of mind is almost always guaranteed. The saer streams bear floating white Lilly pads and withhold the most beautiful forces of nature, including orchids, one Rayai tree (avial tree), Nithavaer and Nydon trees (The daughter trees). Surrounding each tree were a few avial gems laid at the roots of each tree, glorifying its significance and value to the kingdom, for each tree speaks a story but holds thousands of histories.   Rhyzeal Stream: Located from the SW to the S is a still starlight pond. The Glazed Temple is also located here. This stream is found throughout the kingdom; however, it is the most significant around the Glazed Temple. The Varcanai healers utilise their abilities to continue their mystical healing granted by the Starlight Veil. The Saer Stream is a mystical silver stream that flows from the cavities of the Starlight Veil. It gently runs throughout the kingdom and is almost infinite. Its powers derive from the Starlight Veil. There is also a clear saer stream that runs through Eca Gardens, which is the same stream but the avial and daughter trees infuse it with their nutrients rendering it clearer and habitable for creatures to reside in.   The Glazed Temple: The Glazed temple is surrounded by a clear saer stream and lily-pads where white orchids sit atop the water's surface. The temple itself is made of the most delicate chiselled stone and Wien's smoothest yet strongest wood. The rooftops take the form of a large dome, and it bears two gigantic dark brown wooden doors with silver ringed doorknobs. The doors possess the Aalarelai crest on both sides and guards around the entire building for additional protection. Overall, the temple is one of the most significant buildings throughout the kingdom and can be seen from the entrance of the Varcanai Palace. It has more than three floors, contains an extensive library known as 'Incrementum', and is the healing grounds for any elves wounded on the lower floor. The library includes thousands of books and scrolls, ancient, sacred, magic, and new. The Varcanai healers are found on the ground floor and have complete control of all the medicinal herbs and substances the Starlight Veil provides. Their areas are mostly tidy, very clean and organised. At the far back of the temple, there is a large plaque in the shape of a tree with silver branches stemming around the entire room as a form of protection against outside forces. The ground floor is where Maevil resides, then Yinralei and the Promised Heralds reside above them.   Incrementum: This is the library the D'ivalorth is in charge of. She guards all knowledge and is continually acquiring new information. The Vythai and Promised Heralds also reside here and gain knowledge through former illegible scrolls and tomes to guide their kingdoms to glory and prevent the repeat of past mistakes. The first and second floors are enormous and hold thousands of books around a spacious rectangular room. This is the most expansive floor within the temple as there are thousands upon thousands of books, tomes, scriptures, and scrolls. The cupola of the building is a watercolour painting of Aethel Caeloria over the ages and is not completed. There are multiple tall bookcases only wooden ladders can reach. The sacred, dark, and mystical books and scrolls are kept secure whilst everything else is made public. The second floor is for the Promised Heralds only as it is their personal quarters.   Nelaeryn Y'vaphasai: This is a small pathway leading away from the Glazed Temple and sits by the edge of Jujinal Wall on the far east side. A little stone temple with pink and white flowers surround it, and on the inside is a statue of Nelaeryn holding a candle. This is a place of worship. It is known as 'Nelaeryn's Light' and is a place for elves to pray and sit with their thoughts in silence. This is also where the people of Aethel Caeloria have their marriages initiated.   Silencium: Silencium is an art gallery and music theatre. It possesses a style that is perceived as fashionable and imbued with a happy undertone making elves want to step foot within. The building itself bore a wide range of modifications from its construction in 1540 NE to its completion in 299 VO. Over hundreds of years, Silencium ended up sizing at 480ft long and 60ft deep. It was elevated on a one-foot foundation of carved stone to give the gallery a sense of height. There was a central entrance with smooth wien wooden double doors and marble staircases draped with a white carpet along the middle. The opening was relatively narrow compared to other buildings, but its side rooms were disproportionately more expansive. To ensure the building was revitalised, King Dilax Aalarelai's wife, Queen Nael Aalarelai, worked alongside the construction builders to ensure the building was at its highest standard. With love for art, colours, history, and meaning, Nael did precisely what she set out to do, create a building of wonder for all eyes to bear witness to. Though it was huge, the building opened its doors to elves from different kingdoms who had a love for the arts. Silencium is located to the left of Nelaeryn Y'vaphasai, where marriage ceremonies and prayer occur. This is located close to the Glazed Temple within Rhyzeal Stream.   The Ca'rthavial Vales: A few miles away from the kingdom on the same mountain top is the 'Ca'rthavial Vales.' It is the highest and most sacred cliff that the high elves protect. It's where the avial gemstones are embedded and shine the brightest. Avial gemstones have raw starlight embedded into the very heart of each stone, making it both a jewel of beauty and a destructive force not to be reckoned with. This place is sacred to all high elves within the kingdom.   Surrounding Aethel Caeloria:
  • The Glacier's Ravine: Beyond the rocky incline to get up the mountain, a small opening leads to a long glacier ravine. This leads to the Nelaeryn Springs within the kingdom, where the mystical creatures reside. Only the Hydraen traverse in and out of this ravine because they prefer to be in an enclosed area surrounded by the jewels that fuel their very fibres. This ravine bears the most beautiful light-infused crystal-like prisms that stretch throughout and vaguely appear outside one of the small waterfalls within Nelaeryn Springs. It is not dangerous to venture as it is bright on the inside from the crystals. All the high elves do is sit with their beloved creatures and enjoy the silence in a place where the crystals provide peace of mind. Mylo Aalarelai stumbled upon it by accident, admiring the reflections of the crystals. He found a hidden tunnel (just big enough for an elfling to crawl through) leading to an enclosed cave with a large crystalline prism sticking out from the ground filled with the memories of the Hydraen and Hyphicen. It was the biggest crystal Mylo had ever seen with his own two eyes and vowed to keep it a secret, thus, sealed the cave to a degree to ensure no one would ever find it and use it with bad intentions. This cave held the living memories of all the Hydraen and Hyphicen through the thousands of years. No living elf should have access to that unless granted permission by the species themselves. Mylo loved both species and respected their significance.
  • Heavenly Gate: Below the Ca'rthavial Vales is a dark cave filled with black slime and ebony crystals hanging from the upper walls. Inside the cave is where elven-like deformed and strange creatures reside. Their limbs are elongated, and their nails have been overgrown into a set of new fingers used to slice the throats or even decapitate anyone who dares venture where they reside. These creatures no longer have hair or eyelids but are nocturnal and sense heat temperatures. Their inability to blink is what strikes fear into the hearts of the living. These creatures can camouflage into their surroundings because of their soulless transparent appearance.

History

How Aethel Caeloria Came To Be: Created by Aethel Caeloria's God, Nelaeryn was a vast nature lover. He wanted his people to be protected by that which he loved; the mesmerising white stars. Nelaeryn was always at peace while looking up at the stars, which provided him with the inspiration necessary to create a kingdom in his image. He made a mystical tree with roots delving so deep into the planet of Caede Galair that it would be near impossible to destroy the kingdom.   The sacred Starlight Veil was the most significant autumn blazed-maple tree that fuelled everything throughout the kingdom. The roots of this tree were fuelled with the rare saer properties of the stars and flowed through the cavities of his kingdom's monument of importance; The Starlight Veil. It bore an unlimited supply of rare starlight properties in three layers of small wooden fountains created from the tree's branches on either side of the tree. Every night, starlight would beam down from the sky and fill the Starlight Veil's fountains, mystifying it. Surrounding the tree were small gardens, silver and white ponds, steamy springs and clean stone pathways.   It was named Aethel Caeloria, 'A City Among Stars,' because it brought him peace. The name is derived from one of his favourite stars that could be seen with the naked eye from the Ca'rthavial Vales not too far from the kingdom and was one of the brightest within the universe. The name derived from one of his favourite stars that could be seen with the naked eye from the Ca'rthavial Vales not too far from the kingdom, and the star was one of the brightest within the universe; The Caelorian Avialgeontrix. To protect this kingdom from the outside world, he created a great mountain atop the highest peak on all the planet. The only way to enter this kingdom was through the vast rock-like arch placed atop the enormous mountain; the Varcanai Palace was constructed later. Beyond the hill, the skies cleared, and it was silent. The midnight sky exhibited starlight streaks throughout the kingdom, providing light in the darkness.   Nelaeryn was highly focused and devoted to the welfare of his people, and in the process of creating the High Elven kingdom, he became a great architect. It was something he felt great pride in, which passed down through the generations of the royal bloodline known as 'Aalarelai.' His knowledge of the mortal world was seemingly limitless, making him the ultimate creator. Wanting to keep his people safe, he ensured the High Elves could adapt and devout, holding a less dogmatic and more tolerant spirituality, which encouraged individuality. Abhorring violence, he made them the greatest fighters with spears and dual short-swords. It was one of the most beautiful protected kingdoms with two rare yet legendary mystical species within; the Hyphicen and T'wiphray. Divine beings with a godly spirit live within the kingdom's steamy springs. His creation was a civilisation created for royalty and would serve as a sanctuary for many generations to come. However, the Twi'phray died out over the years due to natural selection.   During the War of Faiths in 233 NE, the sacrifice of the people and the city were overrun by The Ashen, and the Starlight Veil began to wither and die. Its saer stream ran blue with the blood of its kin, and the shadowy forces of evil began to destroy the tree, engulfing it in the black claws of the night. The Varcanai Guard, citizens of Aethel Caeloria, and even the Royal family united to find a way to heal the tree. It took days to find a solution, and as each leaf fell, an elf of the city became fell to rapid mortality, falling into darkness. Just as the last leaf fell, a solution was found, but it involved the most challenging choice. Through this choice, the Starlight Veil began to nurture its leaves and flourish again. The blue stream returned to saer, and its autumn blaze hue was restored. However, it was something that shattered the souls of the Royal family. The Starlight Veil changed a feature in every reigning King's firstborn daughter to remind them of their duty.   Since the War of Faiths, each daughter has had more connection to the Starlight Veil than anyone else, including the reigning sovereign. Once the citizens heard of this sacrifice, they decided to build the most magnificent architectural structure around the tree. It would be a structure that would protect it in the darkness and grow in the sunlight. Their sense of duty and loyalty to the crown made everyone do this. If the royal family could sacrifice one of their own for the longevity and durability of the kingdom, then they could offer their time and a small part of their life force to create a better-protected city. One will not be prone to another deadly attack and will have the tools necessary to fight back. Through their life force, the architectural structure could move vertically and horizontally. It curved into an arch dome overnight to protect the Starlight Veil then retracted to its original position at first light. Through the power of the citizen's life force, the ancient power of the avial gemstones and saer stream from the tree, it worked. It protected the sacred monument and every single native elf from the kingdom.   The Varcanai guards each vowed their lives to protect the Starlight Veil and made sure that it was set in stone so that anyone who decided to sign-up to the Varcanai Guard knew of the sacrifice needed to become a faithful guard. Lack of commitment to the protection of the monument would not be tolerated. Through the mystical power of the Starlight Veil, their staffs could transform into the most beautiful double-ended spears that had the light of the stars infused into the very tips of the blades. But this was not all these weapons could do. Through rumour, these staffs could also divide and change into dual double-ended spears bearing a glowing saer line straight down the centre of the blades fuller. The white staff would switch to a white leather grip and have an embedded silver lace wrapped around it for grip. While wielding these mystical weapons, the Varcanai guards stood beside one another, surrounding the kingdom and placed their white staff's tips against each other so that they were touching, providing the domain with an additional layer of protection against the shadowy forces of the night. Through the touch of their staffs, an invisible barrier was formed, making Aethel Caeloria almost invisible to the outside world.   Through the unity and dedication of the common folk, the royal family and the Varcanai Guard, Aethel Caeloria was restored to its full glory and shone once more. Generations of elves have enjoyed fruitful and peaceful lives because of their ancestors. The kingdom now withholds 375,000 elves and more.

Territories

Aethel Caeloria occupies many territories from Myserth Hall to Tiviya's Abyss. The land is stretched far and wide with oceans surrounding it. Territories as below:   House M'ithai: Phiseqar and Ciavala both reside throughout the green forests directly below Aethel Caeloria withholding 1,000 elves and growing. The forests of Myserth Hall are comprised of redwood trees, which tower high above the elves below. All elves living within these villages live in extravagant wood and stone cabins with the rights and civilities of the high elves within the kingdom. They live in peace. Phiseqar and Ciavala together hold approximately 600 elves. However, due to their location, they are vulnerable to the likes of mercenaries who will ravage and steal anything they can. This doesn’t happen often due to the protection of the Howlite Clan and Varcanai Guard, however, some mercenaries do manage to slip through the cracks from time-to-time reigning havoc where they can.   Aerraven (air-rave-hen): It can hold up to 200,000 elves. Aerraven is another safehold of Myserth Hall but was abandoned during the War of Faiths to keep the elves of Aethel Caeloria safe from harm. It is the daughter mountain founded upon a large island across the ocean but still visible from the peak of Aethel Caeloria. It was sculpted by Caelorian’s thousands of years ago during Jujinal Aalarelai’s reign to keep the people safe from harm’s way. A refuge island many perceived it as. Alas, it is difficult to travel to. Aerraven is empty and no elves can be found there, for it is deserted. The only way to get to Aerraven is by boat from Myserth Hall. It takes approximately 45+ minutes to travel there and an hour minutes back because of all the debris along the way from natural rocks etc excluding the seasons.   Travel: To get there, elves must venture across Tiviya’s Abyss and the Expanse of Neglect, which many elves deem to be cursed due to its rocky atmosphere and heavy winds.
  • Tiviya’s Abyss: The deep seas have been condemned as a curse by the high elves snatching elflings and dragging them down to the abyss of impending darkness. The route between Myserth Hall and Aerraven is a reminder that the seas should not be tampered with.
  • The Expanse of Neglect: These seas became an eerie and neglected place to travel through as the air was thicker, the winds were aggressive, the rocky environment was more dangerous, and it became known as the resting place of Tiviya Aalarelai's vengeful spirit.
House Tythal: Tharnhim Castle itself holds 20,000 strong and is loyal to House Aalarelai of Aethel Caeloria. This is where the Caelorian Incline takes place and is a safe haven for the Varcanai Guard. The castle is located on the outskirts of the Ca’rthavial Vales just beyond the Summergloss fields, a few miles away from the kingdom. Attached to the side of this castle is a large, marbled dome with authentic stone towers and a large courtyard for training purposes. Each dome can hold 500-2,500 elves. On the opposite side of the castle are smaller stone houses, which house the Tharnhim soldiers. The soldiers of House Tharnhim are trained here from a young age, day in and day out until they are old enough to join the Varcanai Guard and participate in their optional national service or join the Caelorian Incline as ranked officers, or even other trades which offer national service.

Military

The Varcanai Guard: The Varcanai Guard is the primary protectors of all citizens, creatures, and the general environment within Aethel Caeloria and within the foreign land, Galsra.   The Varcanai guard is the protectors of the Aalarelai bloodline and native citizens of Aethel Caeloria. Known for their bravery and valour, the guards present Aethel Caeloria to its highest standards and will not tolerate insurgence. The full force of the guard stood 50,000 to 60,000 strong and counting. Everyone who is recruited or signs up to the Varcanai guard understands that duty comes above all else. They have only one rule; to preserve that which is the foundation of their existence; the Aalarelai bloodline, the Starlight Veil, and the native citizens of Aethel Caeloria. Both elf and elfa alike sign-up to the Varcanai guard as it does not discriminate against gender, but it will only recruit native High elves. No other race is permitted to join the guard because other races are easily prone to corruption and greed.   Armour: A white leather tunic with an avial chainmail armour and silver leaves bearing a wreath outline with the Aalarelai crest (one Hyphicen head with silver branches weaving in and out of its antlers) in the centre accompanied with their motto; “One People. One Kingdom.” They wear silver leaf patterned shoulder guards too. Along the waist, they wear a light brown leather belt with a leather scabbard for the divided spears. They also wear a back grip for their shields. All guards must wear brown leather gloves that stopped at their elbow. They wear black hosens with avial chainmail embedded into them and brown knee-high boots. The helm is silver and takes the shape of an oval (slightly widened) helmet with a pointed top. Two retractable silver leaves covered the mouth of the helm. Attached to the inside of the helmet is avial chainmail, which is attached to the body of the tunic via a velvet silver cloak. Their cloaks were ones of purity having been made of the finest linen and imbued with the saer properties of the Starlight Veil. The outer layer of the cloak had a thin golden lace embroidered down to the very end giving it a refined appearance. Attached at the top of the cloak is a circular silver tree carved medallion and a thinly twisted lace formed into a loop to connect the chainmail helm underlay and cloak together. Fitted around the neck, it is the perfect fit for any elf.   The Caelorian Incline: The Caelorian Incline are the elite soldiers of House Tythal who are loyal to Aethel Caeloria. This military group is located in Teyidorai and Seosseocyre, Tharnhim Castle, and has a population of over 1500 elves.   The Howlite Clan: The clan is located within and slightly beyond the Myserth Hall Forests and has a population of 200-300 elves. Those serving within the Howlite Clan are called, 'Keepers.'

Religion

Religion isn't widely practised throughout Aethel Caeloria; however, the Virtuous Order does worship their God, Nelaeryn to a minimal extent. Minimal being abiding by his teachings, appreciating all he has given to the high elves, and thanking him every day for the life he has given them. Some may light a candle or lay flowers at his shrine, Nelaeryn Y’vaphasai.   The High Priest and Priestess keep as updated on the efforts of their God, abiding by his rules and informing the citizens of these rules every now and again. The Haven of Solaris is a safe place but often perceived as a religious establishment to learn more about Nelaeryn's time of creation. Any new knowledge discovered by the D'ivalorth and Promised Heralds regarding Nelaeryn's creations and laws is passed onto the Virtuous Order for knowledge and safe-keeping sake.

Foreign Relations

The Great Kingdom of Qeruma: Qeruma is the strongest, closest, and greatest ally that the kingdom Aethel Caeloria has foreign relations with. Qeruma has brought more wares and traditions to the kingdom, making them the first to do so in all history. Qeruma trades pelts, food, glasswork, weapons, and ancient tomes. And, Aethel Caeloria trades clothes, and weapons, and translated tomes back to Qeruma.

Agriculture & Industry

House M'ithai: House M'ithai is best known for its efforts in mining and fishing but contributes large sums of wealth too. Myserth Hall is where most minerals are accessed as it's located directly underneath the mountain where vital minerals such as iron, potassium, sulphur, chloride, and calcium are. The essential minerals are mined more so than the rest as it is a command from the King of Aethel Caeloria. Magma is also carefully handled, which is used to smelt and forge new weapons.   The Myserth Forests: The Myserth Forests is where trees can be chopped down for resources, such as heat within elves' homes. While not many are chopped down, the ones that are have multiple seeds planted straight after to ensure the forest remains populated with hundreds of trees. The currency 'wien' is a wooden component that comes from the trees of Myserth Forest.   Ca'rthavial Mining: Civilians from Myserth Forest mine avial gemstones from the Ca'rthavial Vales that are ready to emerge from their shells and be taken away for refinement. Elves also mine the bottom of the mountain (away from the houses deep in the mountain) where other resources are found.   House Tythal: House Tythal is best known for its military training efforts, agricultural and resource management, plant care, and horse management.   Soldier Training and Contribution: House Tythal are best-known for their soldier training and contribution to the Varcanai Guard. With the Caelorian Incline closely associated with them, elves are hand-selected from Tharnhim Castle before anywhere else. Elves from Tharnhim Castle are also sent to the Varcanai Guard as a part of national service or generally because they want to as a full-time career. Most soldiers originate from Tharnhim castle, which is why their training often takes place on Tythal land too.

Trade & Transport

Trade: Trade within the kingdom usually takes place within Filarion Plaza because that's where all the stalls are located. Throughout the week, traders sell their wares to the natives, which gets them their income. When the gates of Aethel Caeloria open to outsiders during special events or sacred days, traders exceed in their sales, making more and more each time with what they bring in. This in turn provides more finance to the kingdom allowing traders to expand their contributions and reap what they sow.   Transport: Transport of the kingdom mainly consists of horseback riding and wagon management. Horses are used for long-distance destinations with only a courier riding on them if a Nagtaive is unavailable to utilise. Wagons on the other hand are used with horses to carry heavier items that require 2 or more horses to pull them. If the message is urgent or highly confidential, a Varcanai Guard is sent with the message/item on the back of a stallion for the sake of swift delivery.

Education

Training from Birth: As soon as an elfling can write they also wield their first weapon. Most wield a dagger or short sword and then progress to what they are comfortable with. After they are well versed in writing, they are taught to be efficient with weapons of all kinds within the kingdom. They are trained to fight with spears, short swords and shields. This prepares them for the challenges they will face during their teenage and adult years. Each elfling is also taught in hand-to-hand combat until they are proficient enough to beat their peers and mentors in practice. This training gives them the skills needed to survive should they ever venture far from the kingdom. This basic training also takes place until after they have joined their field of national service.   Those who continue to train will be transferred to the traditional ‘Caleorian Incline’ where they will learn the ways of their ancestors through thorough practise and weapons of their choice. Mentors practise with them both individually and in a group to widen their skills in both offensive and defensive training. It involves meditation and vigorous combat. The only training that allows for the drawing of blood. They are taught parkour and how to use martial arts in swordplay, how to use shields to create platforms to jump from, how to use shields as a multi-purpose object and more. Their martial arts training takes years to perfect, which takes a great deal of devotion and commitment. Once their mentors believe them to be ready, those in the Caelorian Incline are given the option to stay until they deem themselves fit enough to leave, choose a different occupation, or to serve in the upper ranks of the Varcanai Guard providing them with more responsibility and passing on knowledge to those without the relevant training.   The Glazed Temple: The Glazed Temple is home to the Varcanai Healers, D'ivalorth, Vythai, and the Promised Heralds where each member is highly proficient in their field of expertise.   The Varcanai Healers: The Varcanai Healers of the kingdom open their doors to anyone who would like to gain knowledge in the art of medicine and healing, providing education in all the sciences and research skills. They are based on the ground floor of the temple. Varcanai Healers often take on new scholars who want to use their compassion and gentle hearts to help others through selfless acts of kindness and to travel the world, which is a perk of being a medicinal scholar. Inexperienced/new scholars are taken on every few hundred years to pass their knowledge down to. This in turn keeps the Varcanai Healers in operation and allows their healing properties to be used on those who cannot help themselves.   The Varcanai Healers are sometimes shown incredibly intellectual elflings who want to learn more in the art of medicine so are offered reading materials to study alongside their national service duration. Once their time is over, they can learn more within the Glazed Temple if they want to, to become a fully-fledged Varcanai Healer themselves and get practical with the more challenging operations under supervision. When they are proficient enough to perform on their own, supervision is taken away and they are given a 1-1 ceremony of celebration with the Lead Varcanai Healer who gives the new healers their official uniform and badge of authentication.   The D'ivalorth and Vythai: These two are the chosen protectors of knowledge within the kingdom of Aethel Caeloria as chosen by the Seed specifically. The D'ivalorth and Vythai are always elfa's. They, as well as the Promised Heralds, are located on the upper floors of the Glazed Temple but are primarily located within Incrementum, the biggest library on the planet.   The D'ivalorth: The D'ivalorth is the Guardian of all knowledge within Aethel Caeloria being the smartest elfa on Caede Galair. She has the knowledge of all the ages through the power of the Starlight Veil. The D'ivalorth has a vast mental capacity beyond scientific possibility and is able to access more parts of the brain than any other, which enables her to take on more knowledge. She lives on the top floors of the Glazed Temple along with the Promised Heralds where thousands upon thousands of ancient scrolls and tomes are kept. Due to her significant position, she is the only elfa who has access to a dark tome; however, has it locked away. She does know when to put her foot down and will not tolerate any form of disrespect or rudeness from anyone, royal or not.   Everyone feels at ease approaching the D'ivalorth because of how supportive and encouraging she is. While she is a high elf, she is not as aversive to outsiders compared to the natives. She is more compassionate and empathetic, which pairs with her nurturing nature and optimistic personality. These characteristics help when passing knowledge onto elflings. A lot of education comes from the D'ivalorth where she primarily comes into contact with teens and adults. She is able to make everyone feel at ease and generally comfortable in her presence, which is another factor that draws elves in. Her methods of teaching are not boring because she manages to make her lessons enjoyable.   The Vythai: The Vythai is the Tender of Scrolls within Aethel Caeloria and is the assistant to the D'ivalorth. While she is not as advanced as D'ivalorth, she is still incredibly intellectual and can retain high amounts of information. The Vythai is a very kind, courteous and understanding elfa with a tender heart. Her loving nature and open-minded personality pair well with her work efforts; however, she will not tolerate the desecration of books, scrolls or anything that withholds knowledge for she believes all knowledge to be of high importance to the world. Above all, she protects Incrementum and the secrets it withholds. Fortunately, the Vythai has her associate the D'ivalorth to assist with transcriptions etc and to provide company when the place is quieter than usual. If they are at a standstill with books and scrolls, they sit in each other’s company to discuss general matters in their lives and entertain themselves with global politics and trivial discussions.   The Vythai teaches elfling's of the kingdom, following in the footsteps of the D'ivalorth making fundamental lessons fun, interesting, and enjoyable to learn. The homework she sets is often more creative, which helps the elflings to learn faster. She is also considerate to the fact that not all elflings learn the same way so will try different methods to ensure everyone understands what she is teaching. This is one of her most outstanding qualities, being able to offer more than one solution.   The Promised Heralds: In Aethel Caeloria, there is a well-regarded group called 'The Promised Heralds,' who are the keepers of knowledge. They are known throughout the lands and once a D'ivalorth comes into power, the Seed of the Starlight Veil summons her to form the collective cluster of elves it has specifically chosen. One scholar from each kingdom must come forth to complete this consortium as they'll provide guidance to each kingdom through their findings and discover new scriptures and tomes etc, once new ones make their way into Incrementum through trade and travel. These elves primarily take up accommodation within the Glazed Temple, but are welcome anywhere within the confines of Aethel Caeloria, including its neighbouring houses. Their workspace is Incrementum, which is the largest archive throughout all the kingdoms and is where they all work.   While the Promised Heralds don't come into a lot of contact with elves who want to learn from them, they do get the occasional elves who will ask them questions about their individual kingdoms and way of life appreciating and comparing it to their own for the sake of research and general knowledge.   The Virtuous Order: The Virtuous Order allows anyone to walk through The Haven of Solaris to teach elves the way of Nelaeryn. Elflings, teens, adults, and elders alike may enter to learn about Nelaeryn and his teachings. As elfling's are often much more fascinated by the world, they are who enter the doors to learn about their God and have a system of belief once they leave it, which often has them returning and visiting more often to learn more.   The Aalarelai Bloodline: Though the royal family most contend the needs of the kingdom, when they are found alone or have spare time, they are often approached by citizens to help them with educational matters, which they don't mind doing at all. The Advisor of the King and Queen are the ones who do this the most. They will even go one step further sometimes and hold sessions within the Varcanai Palace, Myserth Hall, or Tharnhim Castle to teach along with the neighbouring house leading family members who are gratefully onboard with it all. Knowledge means everything to the royals, so teaching civilians about issues and matters of the world and history is something they will willingly and happily do.   The Varcanai Guard/Caelorian Incline/Howlite Clan: Throughout elves' time in their military groups, they will learn the basics of what it is to live in the kingdom and contribute. The Varcanai Guard, though it is a military has been described by veterans as a huge family that teaches one another how to survive in the world both professionally and personally. This allows for a trusty and reliable militarised force.

Infrastructure

The Infrastructure of the kingdom is relatively simple:
  • Jujinal Wall: Around the outside of the entire kingdom is the impenetrable wall of Jujinal carved during 2397 NE – 1675 NE. This wall was carved to resemble a crown from an isometric and bird-eye viewpoint. From a direct point of view, it appears to be a towering structure.
  • Sewage: This is controlled through drains found throughout the kingdom. The sewage of the kingdom is filtered then released beyond the Ca'rthavial Vales to ensure no harm comes to the waters and sea life.
  • Roads/Pathways: All roads within the kingdom of Aethel Caeloria are connected to one another from Dihavanor's Sphere in the centre. From there, the roads expand out towards House M'ithai, House Tythal, the Ca'rthavial Vales and along the borders of the kingdom.
  • Border Forts: On the edge of Myserth Forest stand two border forts on either side of the trees. Each fort contains two keepers of the Howlite Clan, two members of the Caelorian Incline, and two Varcanai Guards for additional protection and more eyes to remain alert.
  • Throne Room: Varcanai Palace has a throne room within its palace, which is where all deeds are recognised, the citizens of the kingdom are heard, and issues are resolved with the Varcanai Council. This is one of the most important rooms throughout the entire palace.
  • Freedom's Pass: Within Filarion Plaza is the Elders of Claritas courtroom where average and major crimes are given a verdict, along with the King's final verdict. It is a place where judgement is passed and the laws of the land are upheld.
  • The Haven of Solaris: Next to Freedom's Pass is the Haven of Solaris where minor crimes are reported and resolved through coordination of the Varcanai Guard and High priestess/High Priest. Any average/major crimes that are reported to them are then passed onto the Elders of Claritas. The Haven of Solaris is also a place where elves can learn more about the moral principles of their God, Nelaeryn.
  • The Barrier: Outside Jujinal Wall is a barrier of Varcanai guards standing around the kingdom with their staffs touching to form a vaguely invisible barrier to outsiders.
  • The Saer Gate: Underneath the entrance into the kingdom is a large saer gate that is only ever opened and closed by the Varcanai Guards standing on duty.

Mythology & Lore

Aethel Caeloria only has a few myths within the kingdom, but only two are well-known.
  • The Old Kings Return: This myth is thousands of years old and surrounds the Kings of Old (Each King of the Kingdom that has ruled). It is said that during the kingdoms fall, the Spirits of the Kings of Old will break from their Saer temples (H’ilvatruth) and fight with every last breath until the kingdom is free from the evil spirits that control it. Aethel Caelorians believe this to be true because of the alignment of statues found within the Summerglossed fields. It is difficult to know whether there is validity with this. The only object to come of this tale is ‘Nithavideon,’ which is the King’s sword.
  • A Tale of Three Warriors: This legend is as old as the tales tell. It tells of three substances that changed into faceless elves, Saer, Rone, and Wien. These three elves became the kingdoms primary resources and protected their sites of origin with their lives. Saer originated from the core of the Starlight Veil. Rone originated within the heart of Heavenly Gate. Wien originated from Rayai; the avial tree of Aethel Caeloria. Together, they formed three almighty warriors. During the War of Faiths, it was said that they fought the Ashen with not even half of their power and protected the three sacred sites with their lives. Ash and fog surrounded these sites, and it caught the attention of someone they hoped never to face; Vivaleth the Forsaken Commander. One by one, Vivaleth visited these warriors to make an example of them. Vivaleth bound all three warriors to their sites of origin through the cruellest of ways. With the cast of her hand, she turned the three warriors into substances unable to ever take up arms again. First, she visited Rone; a smooth black figure of spark and gloss. He wielded a four-headed spear and lunged at Vivaleth from the sacred well underneath the kingdom. Marking Vivaleth with a prick on the neck, she became furious. In anger, she gripped Rone’s spear as it lunged and broke it into a thousand pieces. In an attempt to protect the well, Rone jumped for Vivaleth, but she cast her hand to the side and threw Rone into the well, watching as it fell deeper and deeper into an abyss of darkness. Not convinced that Rone wouldn't climb back up, she took strands of her hair and scattered them over the well, turning Rone into a stretchy slime very slowly. Rone watched as it melted into something ungodly and slumbered within the well.
  • Secondly, she visited Wien. A smooth figure it was with a variety of colours coursing throughout its bark. Wielding a bow and arrow, it shot arrows at Vivaleth from the Rayai Tree and marked her face just above her eyebrow. Furious, Vivaleth caught there rest of Wien’s arrows and took a tight grip of its bow, shattering it into fragmented pieces. Wien stepped back trying to protect the Rayai tree from its enemy. Impatient, Vivaleth grabbed Wien by the neck and heard the cracks get louder and louder. Once she dropped Wien to the floor, instead of killing it she cast her hand in a claw-like shape and transformed Wien into the roots of the Rayai tree, slowly embedding it into the surface of the planet. Wien became nothing other than roots of a tree that spread throughout the kingdom and to the neighbouring houses.
  • Thirdly, she visited Saer. A smooth silver figure wielding two short swords, known as ‘Heartwood.’ This weapon was special. It bore a pommel of Rone, its Cross and Rainguard were of Wien and the main body of steel was of Saer. Feeling weak from the loss of its kin, Saer did everything it could to protect the Starlight Veil and sliced Vivaleth across the chest multiple times. In a flying rage, she became agitated and screamed at Saer, but in the midst of the fighting, Saer looked at the Starlight Veil and accepted its fate knowing that it could not win against such a powerful foe. Acknowledging this, the Starlight Veil opened its core and Saer threw Heartwood into it. The Starlight veil sealed itself shut. Confused, Vivaleth cast her hand towards Saer and watched as it melted into a liquid substance. Now able to destroy Aethel Caeloria’s sacred tree, she cast both of her hand’s, but she got hurled back by the protection of heartwood, which was now the Starlight Veil’s weapon. Even though she bound the three warriors to a fate worse than death, their cores lived on through the Starlight Veil and were used as a barrier against foes. Wien, Rone, and Saer could only be used as resources again if they were fortunate enough to be found, but there was also a myth within this. Vivaleth vowed that once all three warriors were found again, her coming would be imminent.
  • The Coming of Three Warriors: It is said that an elfling of the kingdom can summon the three warriors of old, Saer, Wien, and Rone from their substance appearance back to their faceless ones and fight alongside them as allies against their foes. In an ancient scroll, an excerpt was recorded by the Divalorth and Vythai of that time: 'When the moon turns to shadow and the stars disappear from the midnight sky, we will arise from our slumber through the hopes and dreams of an elfling. Once more shall we wield our blades to defeat the foe that once bested us. All will seem lost and faith in the old gods will come to pass, but do not lose hope for it shall prevail in the corners of the kingdom to reignite the flame of passion and light. We will return and when we do, we will return with a vengeance.'
  • The Fallen Rise: It is said that the Caelorian Queen's will arise from their dormant state to fight alongside the Seed of the Starlight Veil upon the Forsaken's return. All the Queen's of the Aalarelai Bloodline will rise from the saer cavities of the Starlight Veil to protect the Seed through their mystical abilities, but will also enforce life transference to go ahead if necessary.
  • Through Bark and Wood: The elves of Aethel Caeloria have long questioned the sustainability and mystical illusion of the Starlight Veil, wondering whether it is truly a tree or something else. Many have rumoured it to be the biggest Hyphicen throughout the land whereas others have believed it was merely a tree.

Divine Origins

All origins of myths throughout Aethel Caeloria were written and rumoured during and after the War of Faiths in 233 NE. Once the Forsaken were defeated, tales of kingly returns emerged from beneath the surface and lived on through the many generations giving the elves of the kingdom something to be hopeful for should anything apocalyptic ever return to plague their lands and lives.

Beneath the mountain of Aethel Caeloria are Myserth Hall of House M'ithai and its forests. All landmasses are connected.
  • Oceans: Tiviya's Abyss and The Expanse of Neglect.
  • Inner City Sections: The Starlight Veil, Nelaeryn Springs, Miha Ponds, Jujinal Wall, Dilax Crypt, Varcanai Palace, Dihavanor Sphere, Rhyzeal Stream, Eca Gardens, and Filarion Plaza.
  • Inner City Landmarks: The Glazed Temple, Nelaeryn Y’vaphasai, Dilax Crypt, Silencium, Freedom's Pass, The Haven of Solaris, The Ivory Orchid Tavern, and Silencium.
  • Neighbouring Houses: House Tythal, which is the head of Tharnhim Castle withholds Teyidorai and Seosseocyre. House M'ithai, which is the head of Myserth Forest withholds Ciavala and Phiseqar.
  • Ca'rthavial Vales: It is the highest and most sacred cliff that the high elves protect. It's where the avial gemstones originate and shine the brightest. This place is sacred to all native high elves within and surrounding the kingdom.
  • Heavenly Gate: Beneath the Ca'rthavial Vales is a deep cave, which withholds twisted elven creatures deprived of food and sunlight, living in the darkness.
The Aalarelai bloodline is vital to the kingdoms longevity, for they are the ruling hand of the people and ensure everything runs smoothly. They provide tradelines with other kingdoms and hold their ancestors' past secrets. The royal family are different to the high elves because they have natural starlight running through their veins, making them officially known as Ca'rthavial elves. The light of the stars course through every inch of their body and provide them with a second sight that allows them to see more than most, especially in the dark. 'The Sight' enables them to look directly into the heart of a star without rendering themselves blind. Nothing compares to that, so if they are ever faced with a situation that requires others to close or cover their eyes, they can walk straight towards it without harming themselves. The Aalarelai Bloodline still class themselves as High elves. Still, the correct terminology of their heritage is 'Ca'rthavial.' They are named this because they have a direct link to their God, Nelaeryn, and raw starlight is stored within Avial gems founded upon the Ca'rthavial Vales. Only the elves of the family have a claim to the throne, whereas only the elfa's have a claim to become Seeds of the Starlight Veil. Each gender has a purpose; however, the elfa's job is often much more demanding.

Currency
The Currency of the Kingdom: The primary currency is known as ‘Avirial.’ (A-veer-real) Avirial is a thin saer (silver) or wien (wooden) coin with a small avial gemstone embedded into the centre. There are tree-like indentations branching out towards the edges of the coin giving it the significance of the kingdom's sacred monument, The Starlight Veil. Unlike many other kingdoms, Aethel Caeloria mainly specialises in the exchange of gemstones. The rarer the gemstone, the more valuable it is. If someone possesses a specialised avial gemstone, they are considered wealthy.   Most traders will take gemstones if Avirial coins are not something other elves possess, but Varcanian traders are highly trained in the art of negotiation and getting the best price for their items often making compromise challenging, but not impossible. Many items throughout the kingdom are expensive, but there are also affordable stalls available too.   Two Types of Coin:
  • Avirial: These are the normal coins that are either saer or wien and have a small avial gemstone in the centre.
  • Raw Avial: These are rare coins that have both smooth saer and wien materials on the coin with a slightly larger avial gemstone in the centre. The raw avial gemstone is Aethel Caeloria’s most sacred stone as it holds the light of the stars within the very centre making it incredibly valuable and sought for. It is also incredibly destructive with a blinding light and is the highest belief of purity for the high elves, making it exceptionally unique and desirable among traders and the kingdom alike.

  • It is not horrible to break an oath; however, it is frowned upon as one’s reputation will decrease twice-fold.
  • Oath’s made by the royal family are unbreakable.
  • The only oaths that can be withdrawn from are ones that put an elf's life in danger. If one’s life is in danger, it is passed onto the Varcanai Guard to fulfil as a matter of safety.
Execution Method: Execution will only happen on two occasions: if a native elf of Aethel Caeloria is murdered by another or a native citizen gives birth to an elfling with an outsider. The elfling will then be put to death too.
  • S'ivatheia: This is when an elf is slowly pushed off the Ca'rthavial Vales cliff by Varcanai Guards as they aim their spears towards the convicted.
  • Z'imatharadil: This is when an elf is surrounded by three circles of Varcanian Guards wielding their spears, and as soon as the order is given, the guards impale the convicted once through the heart. The next circle of guards will impale the convicted through the legs at once. The last circle of guards will impale the criminal’s throat once.
Judicial Body
The Elders of Claritas, the Haven of Solaris, and the Varcanai Guard ensure the laws are well interpreted throughout the lands of Aethel Caeloria.
Executive Body
The Varcanai Guard is the executive body that enforces the laws throughout Aethel Caeloria. The Commander and Captain make sure every single member of the guard knows the crimes and their corresponding punishments off by heart to ensure they apply the correct punishment to the crime.
