Blair

The estate on Ambermere was small, just like the system itself, and Blair would miss it. The system itself held less than two hundred million, which made it just another minor system in the Furmann Sector of her home. It was nothing compared to the twenty billion that called her homeworld of Goldenfield. Still it were more than the thirty five million of Cinders, and few systems see had seen so far could count their numbers in the billions.

There was a simple charm in the star systems of millions instead if billions though. Spread out as they were. The worlds seemed open, and less tame. There was a natural beauty that worlds like Goldenfield, or even Bastion, and Daxholm just couldn’t hope to match. Blair was quickly falling in love with them, and the small estates that she had been granted, and her only regret was that she had to leave them all too soon.

There was so much of Ambermere that she wished to see, and explore, more so than on Isca, or Cinders. Perhaps it was because King Oswald was not only too busy, but for a chance she wasn’t worried about spending time with him, but instead their unborn child. It didn’t matter though, because their time was up, and they were on the move again to the next stop of the journey.

At least the Ambermere System had a star fortress to aide in the protection of the world, and system at large, although the system held almost no orbital infrastructure to speak out outside minor local needs. A few sateteliles, but there were not even a small orbital dock to conduct repairs, and starships had to land for such things.

Although Blair had not spent much time with her husband the king, he had expressed his concern with their doctor about the space travel on the child. Blair had wondered the same, and spent much of her downtown studying those, and a hundred other questions that had popped into her head. Ansel was even worse, and seemed to have an answer for everything. It seemed though that the effects were almost nothing, and that zero g could be calming for worth child, and mother, at least when they were more than fourteen weeks along.

She were finally able to see the baby bump which were forming on her. She had noticed it before, slowly gain hold of her midsection, but now it was clear, and although the courtiers were polite enough not to mention it, she knew that they were starting to see it as well, but it didn’t bother her, in fact she took pride in it. It was her royal baby, the child born on the old capital of the kings of Daxholm, the king’s of the Commonwealth, and although he may not be heir, he was royal, and he, or she, would have her place at court, and perhaps even one day, even elventh in line for the throne after all the other children of the king, he or she would wear the crown of the Commonwealth.
