William

Everything had hurt when William came back to consciousness. He didn’t know how long he had been out. Or how long it had taken himself to dig himself out of the debris.

He had been pinned, and it had been as dark as he had ever seen it. Even when Will had happened to clear the rubble from above his head it remained dark but for the low dim lights hanging.

When he had finally been able to make out the remains of the room, he had spotted several death bodies.

He was thankful when he couldn’t see Samantha or Zoe among the corpses. In the distance he could hear small arms fire every couple minutes away.

Every time he moved something and it made a noise he cringed in fear that it would draw someone near.

The whole wall had been taken out, along with sections of the second floor. Will had no clue how he had survived, or if he would.

The thoughts of Samantha, and his family pushed him on. By the time Will had freed himself the noise had continued to drift away.

It was hard to see through the broken rubble of the building into the street in the darkness. He could see the figures of bodies but none of their features.

William knew he couldn’t risk it to go out there. Knew Sam wouldn’t have survived that way. The only hope was that she was able to back it through the back door and it wasn’t a trap.

He moved through the ruined lobby, and tried to stick to the shadows and not to make a sound. He stopped several times at the times of bodies. Unsure if they were dead or not in the darkness.

He had taken an old rifle on the body of one of the attackers. A kid that Will would have guessed was no more then fourteen.

William grabbed what supplies he could from the lifeless body, and made his way down the hall where the body of the old soldier lay sitting on the floor with his back against the wall. His chest was filled with holes of blood.

Will took his sidearm pistol, and leg holster before stopping to pay respects for the man. He didn’t know if his family was alive, but he hoped they were. Will swore to the dead man that if he saw them he would help them.

He could see several bodies in the small passage way between buildings that service Bots used to remain out of site.

Will couldn’t know what way Samantha would have went. He picked left it wasn’t far before he knew she must have come that way when he found the body of Zoe.

Will Pushed on slowly in the dark shadows on the alley way. Using dumpers and garbage to hit himself as he looked for signs of Sam. He was so tired and sore he just wanted to stop and cry, but he pushed. Several doors lay open, and Will had no clue where to go.

“Get away from me,” Will heard Sam yell. He knew it without a doubt. Laughing and joking voices came after.

Will locked onto the noise and made his way towards the building it were coming from with his rifle.

He found them on the second floor. No guards on the look out. Sam was being held down by two of them as she tried to fight them off while a third one stood off to the side.

Will had never taken a life before, but he was a siege champion. He lined up the rail-gun with the figure standing off  alone away from Sam as she struggled with the two other figures.

He let out a breath as he fired twice into the figure away from Sam before he he swung his rifle to the two figures as they raised above Sam before he fired at each one of them.

William rushed towards Sam as the bodies fell, and dropped the rifle. He pulled the bodies off her and looked into her eyes for a moment before embracing her.
