The Grimbridge System took it’s name from the famous Grimm Clan, that Furse Clan which had conquered many worlds in what was now the Commonwealth of Drala. Worlds such as Grimm Hearth, Grimm Hearth, and Grimlight in the south, and Grimmfield and Grimly in the north in the Bloom Sector.

Many houses throughout the Commonwealth still shared that common link, although the Grimm’s themselves were few and lost most of their power. Some Houses, such as the Grimmharts still held on to some power, although most knew that the Grimmharts were more Gisking than Grimm. Outcast as members of the royal family and forced to change their name. Still there was a blood link that few could deny.

Grimmbridge was the first stop of the fleet in the Bastion Sector. The most northern world along the Fabian Gateway in the sector, and last stop before the world of Bastion itself.

House Firestorm ruled the system. Conquered from some Grimm or another in the reconquests of the Dragon’s Head Nebula from the Furse when it was lost after the Great Savage Host arrived and took it. Or had the world been ruled by another House at that time? Warin couldn’t recall. The Grimms had come with the first batch of Furse invaders thousands of years ago, the same time as his ancestors had arrived and conquered Skyhold and Holderness, but his history of the southern worlds was shaky at best.

There were dozens of lords in the hall of Lord Firestorm, and not just the petty lords of the system which Warin had grown use to during his visit at each world south along the Fabian Gateways, but System-lords, and Highlords from all over the Commonwealth. They were nearing the date of the royal wedding, and Grimmbridge was a close trip to Bastion, without all the marked up cost that the planet would have.

“It’s only four days travel from here to Bastion,” Lord Firestorm told Warin. “Stay, leave a few days early to enjoy the world, and save yourself alot of hassle.” He said. “The world of Bastion is an aweful place at the best of times, but with a royal wedding, the damn world will be filled up with hardly a shit house to rent.”

Warin smiled at the lord. “Thank you for the advice lord, and if it were my choice I would take it,” he lied. He wanted to see Bastion, had never seen it before. “My father and the council have business for me on Bastion, and I must handle it,” he told Warin, and that was true.

“The council,” Lord Firestorm scoffed. “Damn council, nothing much headaches,” the lord said and shook his head. “Don’t get me wrong, they have their place, but the councils can be bothersome, and some are too focused on politics instead of actually doing something.”

Warin smiled again. He couldn’t disagree. “With your premission we will stay a few extra days though, and if my business is finished early perhaps leave to enjoy the rest of the trip here,” Warin told the lord which made him beam.

“You won’t regret it. Who wants to be stuck surrounded by buildings, and the smell, let me tell you about the smell son,” Lord Firestorm said and began to tell him about the smell of too many humans on a world.
