Elinor

General Ulrik Grimmhart had arrived in the system shortly before the beginning of the wedding. His ship the ‘XXXXX’ was among the last of the guests to arrive, but he had made it, and he stood in front of the great Fabian Temple of XXXXX on Bastion.

The great Fabian Temple of XXXXX stood large. It towered over all other structures around it but for the nearby royal palace.

General Ulrik Grimmhart stood out in his dress uniform. There were many with the dress uniform of the Commonwealth Forces, other Generals and Admirals walking through the front of the great temple, but Ulric Grimmhart stood a good foot taller than most, and his golden copper hair made him stand out.

Elinor grinned as she saw him, and caught his eye. She wanted to rush forward and embrace him in one of his bear hugs, but forced herself to walk slowly towards him.

“Father,” Elinor greeted her father.

“El,” General Grimmhart said, and smiled wide, before he embraced Elinor in a big hug. “How I have missed you.” The general said softly.

“Me too dad,” Elinor said almost a whisper.

The two walked through the Great Temple. Elinor saw dozens of nobles she knew nothing other than what she had heard of from the net on one world of another. Great lords throughout the Commonwealth of Drala, and lords from Fabian Space also came.

They found their seats in the mix of lords and other important figures of the Commonwealth. Bishops and politicians.

Elinor stood as the future Queen Blair Tusk entered the Great Temple in her wedding dress. She was gorgous. Much more than the other night when she had attended the feast put on by Blair.

Elinor couldn’t help but wonder though how different things might have been if her own ancestors had been king instead of Osgar the Great. There likely would have been no Commonwealth, the Kingdom of Daxholm might have fallen for good.

Sibyl Gisking was her distance ancestor. All the Grimmharts, the few that there were, were an offshoot of House Gisking. A direct decsenant of Mildred Gisking who had died fighting the Great Savage Host and granted the Kingdom of Daxholm to her brother instead of her young children. Osgar had become known as the Great, while Sibyl ‘Grimmhart’ Gisking.

Sibyl had remained loyal to the King of Daxholm while her younger sister Eve had launched a rebellion against the daughter of King Osgar the Great. Sibyl had been forced to fight her own blood one way or the other, and she had chosen the loyalty and greater good of the kingdom over that of her own sister. Sibyl had been said to have delivered the death blow to Eve, and been granted the nickname Grimmhart from which Elinor and her ancestors took their name.

House Grimmhart had forever had the shadow of treason cast on them. They had broken off from House Gisking so not to threaten their lords, and served loyalty, but that shadow had remained. Even still Elinor found herself wondering what kind of king she might make, or even how she might look in that dress, and what sort of queen she would be.

They were thoughts which would never come of anything, not that she wanted them to. She was happy to serve, and the Commonwealth of Drala was not the Kingdom of Daxholm. That kingdom had faded away when the Commonwealth was born out of the union of the four major Kingdoms of the Old Blood.
