Corporatist District

wow that's a lot of stars is a sci-fi setting about adventure, exploration, and discovery. Every person, place, and thing has a story to tell, if you listen closely.   Setting Intro | Visitor's Guide | Author's Intentions
Description of the corporatist district, the clean lines and neutral colors, the security drones, the expert systems, and VI tour guides, the two big towers: one for integrell and one for apex, the gondola that goes from those towers to the cliff on the opposite side of the river, where the richest off-worlders live, including the business owners.

What's Here

The Corporatist District is the least Nisoran part of Galendra. Off-world chains line tidy streets, security drones guard showrooms and VIs run office reception desks. Expert systems, void of after-market mods, perform various menial tasks. Smooth jazz replaces the thrumming bass of Nisoran music in hotel lobbies, and everything is awash in neutral colors. The tallest buildings are the headquarters of the two biggest corporations on the planet: Integrell and Apex.   To many Galendrans, this district is evidence of the attack on their culture, with it sterility, blandness, and surveillance. It's a common target for the Wyre Rats, resulting in an arms race between security programs and Galendran hackers. With Integrell's President under arrest, it's fallen to Apex to manage the district, a feat made easier with how little recent unrest has affected it.

Who's Here

Well-off off-worlders are the primary population in corporatist reaches of the city. These are people with lucrative office jobs and expensive vacation homes, who were paid to move to Nisora to continue the work they did elsewhere. Nisoran natives may end up working jobs here, but often low-end ones and often out of desperation for work. Even if they do get better positions, their commutes from other areas of the city are much longer, putting them at a disadvantage compared to their colleagues.   With turf wars and destruction still rampant across the city, many Corporatist residents wish to close themselves off from the rest of Galendra. Much of this border is already in a near-unpassable state thanks to the Wyre Rats, but fully enclosing the district is an impractical concept at best, even with Apex's equipment.

Did you know?

Despite the recent and abrupt change in leadership, Integrell's Galendran office is expected to remain open. Once the city is safe enough to allow return to work, employees will focus on removing the illegal surveillance protocols currently included in all Integrell VIs.

Eugh, it sounds so sterile and lacking. I can see why the Nisorans don't really like it.

Sometimes we need a healthy dose of corporate culture to remind ourselves why corporate culture is the worst.
