wow that's a lot of stars is a sci-fi setting about adventure, exploration, and discovery. Every person, place, and thing has a story to tell, if you listen closely.   Setting Intro | Visitor's Guide | Author's Intentions
The vibrant lights from Glow Market spill into the residential district from its many alleyway entrances, like sand slipping between fingers to pour onto the streets. The sounds and voices of market-goers entice any looking to make a sale or a purchase...provided they don't ask too many questions.

Description

Glow Market is a block in Galendra of different shops and market stalls, many peddling wares illegal on more restrictive planets. There are pawn shops, gun sellers, drug boutiques, and body mod surgeons of mixed repute. Street food vendors sit between grease monkeys and across from a salesman with no goods but promising he can get you anything you need.   Every shop, stall, window, and door is outlined in technicolor illumination. Strings of lights crisscross the outdoor courtyard and alleyway entrances. Even the people often glow in different ways, with body mods, prosthetics, clothes, weapons, and even tattoos that light up in the dark or under UV light. Music blares from different sources across the courtyard, drowning out private conversations and questionable business deals.

Neutral Ground

The variety of products available at Glow Market make it an invaluable resource to many living in Galendra. For any singular group to claim control over it could be catastrophic to everyone else. Thus, Glow Market's neutrality and independent status is fiercely defended by all who work and shop there. For as long as they draw breath, the market will remain a place to make purchases without fear of a knife in your back.   That doesn't make it safe, however, as anyone can still be pickpocketed, swindled, or followed to a less protected locale. Gang leaders typically send couriers or other representatives to do their work for them, opting to remain safely in their own territory. Even if members of rival gangs can shop in relative peace, tensions remain high and no one shops alone.

Author Commentary

Life/Fiction
This location and its name are based on a local market my players and I frequently go to. The RL one is much less sketchy.
