"My sister Ren told me of a town north of here where we can lay low for a few weeks, if we can find it. No roads lead to it..."

Wheages is a barony in the county of Azure and is part of the Kingdom of North cassel. It is bordered on the west by Esurian, the east by The Sun Valley and Gwerra. To the south is Fulmenor and Nikria.

Wheages has various natural resources that can be found here. In the northern part of the province is a small mountain range called the Green Mountains. It is a forested paradise where most of the elves in this area live. Various aethercite crystals are found here, especially emeralds.

To the northeast is the city of Iamond, one of the larger port cities in cassel. Just to the west of this city is a kimberlite pipe. Much of Cassel's supply of diamonds comes from the mines around this area.

Also in the north of the province are several islands. These waters have a species of fish known as the Dragon Shark. These animals are hunted for their oversized scales. Scale armor made from these are said to be very strong.

In the center of Wheages are numerous vineyards and wheat fields. The wine that comes out of Wheages is said to be grassy and sweet.

Iamond

Iamond is a strange city for several reasons. The architecture has much more in common with the Shining city of Tesiadem in Mataro than it does anywhere in North Cassel. wood and brick houses are covered in white to gold stucco and the roofs are made of red tiles. Similar to the shining city, Iamond is quite rich due to the supply of diamonds that run through the city.

The Castle is made of granite and is entirely covered on the outside with white stucco to give it the same appearance as the surrounding city. Long range cannons powered up with magic allow it to easily target ships just over the horizon. The original version of the castle was constructed in the year 1300 I.A. as the city was founded.

Due to the presence of diamonds, the city was attacked and the castle destroyed numerous times over the five centuries that followed, by other human kingdoms, elven kingdoms. Allied baronies in Dorias Aeris even invaded and destroyed the city one time.

The Kingdom of Cassel got a little tired of rebuilding the city, so in the year 1800 the city became the site of the kingdom's first naval base. The city has yet to be successfully attacked again since then. Today, over a dozen armored frigates are anchored in the bay near the city at any given time.

The Town of Ziberon

Ziberon is a small island town just north of the green mountains. Nearly the entire population consists of elves. It is a somewhat simpler location than many cities across the rest of Cassel. There are no paved roads or stone structures here. The town's primary source of income is from the scales they harvest from dragon sharks.

The town is quite far out of the way, so few people know of its exact location, making it a great hiding place for various criminals and other people who don't want to be found. The elves here don't care so long as they either work or the coin they brought with them is good. Anyone who causes trouble in the town, whether it is a criminal or a bounty hunter, a soldier, or a noble, the elves have a way of dealing with them.

If captured, their skin is cut open with a piece of a rare animal of these islands, a Spined Frog. The poison of these frogs is enchanted and causes excruciating pain the closer the person is to a spined frog. The person can survive easily, if they leave and never return.

Dragon Sharks

These sharks are infected with the Corruption of Xiralgus. They are normally deep water creatures that swim around the corrupted seas around the boiling islands and tornor Bay. Their breeding grounds are around the Boiling mountain itself in the barony of Tholos. It is too dangerous to hunt for these creatures there.

Every year around spring, these sharks come much closer to the surface in the waters just north of Wheages. It is one of their feeding grounds. Elves have taken advantage of this gathering of sharks for thousands of years, capturing and harvesting several thousand each time.

The scales of a dragon shark are extremely tough. Even untreated scales are able to block a musket ball. the largest ones are harvested and turned into armor while the smaller scales are ground up with the teeth and used for other things, usually traditional potions used by the elves in the area. It can be considered a type of Aethercite.

Shark Scale armor

Normal shark scales are very hard but very tiny plates that are made of the same material as human teeth. this is not the case with dragon sharks. Their scales have more similar properties to a drake's scales, which are durable, soft, and pliable. This allows the elven armorsmiths in Ziberon to shape the armor as they please. The scales are treated it in a similar manner as leather. Another special property of dragon shark scales is that it also immediately hardens when hit with great force or high speed impacts, giving it the ability to block attacks that would normally require heavier steel armor.

Shark Scales can be shaped in just about any possible way, but it is also an expensive material. A full set of shark scale armor is roughly twice as expensive as a set of steel armor. Because of this, most sets of scale armor made from this only include a set of gauntlets and gloves, a set of pauldrons or spaulders, hip protection and a small chest and back plate. This armor is popular with mercenaries and travelers who prefer armor lighter than steel without sacrificing the toughness.
