"Compared to the women in the west, the Men's tombs are a half-million year long stick measuring contest between various kings from the Silver Age. The Bronze and Iron Age tombs are sort of more reasonable.... yeah, we'll go with sort of!"

Roy is a barony located within the northeastern side of the Valley of Kings and is part of the Kingdom of North Cassel. It is bordered to the east by Berga, Valier, and Aston, to the north by Agennum, and to the west by the three remaining baronies in the Valley: Reina, Gladio, and Sacellum. The climate is somewhat cool and snow from about November to March is common.

The mountains north and east of Roy have lower quality gems than Reina does. Chrsoberyl, Topaz and Corundum can be found here. Gemstone quality Sapphires are rare but can be found. Mining this province is much easier than Reina as there aren't very many tombs buried deep in the mountain.

The few that are there are massive twisting labyrinths that were raided and cleared of any treasure long ago. Even the walls were picked clean of any valuable material. If a new tomb, or hallway in an existing tomb is discovered, it is catalogued, then miners are free to break open a new passageway. There aren't normally any nameless horrors in the mountains here, but mercenaries are often hired to guard the miners as they do their jobs.

Notable Tombs

Almost every single king of the Silver Age is buried here. Their tombs are built inside a pyramid made of granite. Older structures are shaped like step pyramids, while newer structures were shaped like geometrical pyramids. The pyramids through time are each larger than the last and they kept getting bigger and bigger all the way until the second last king of the Silver Age. The Bronze Age tombs are marked with obelisks, usually made of granite and plated with bronze. These obelisks are similar to the silver age tombs in that they gradually get bigger and taller, all the way until the last king of the age.

The Iron age tombs are tiny in comparison, though not for lack of trying. The Casselian kings that are buried here have each of their tombs marked with a tree, said to be a sapling of Meliheal. The oldest trees are obviously much taller. At the base of these trees is a stone building that is the tomb itself. These are plain granite block structures with relief carvings of the king and their accomplishments in life.

Silver Age Tombs

1) Tomb of King Mesilim, The Warrior

  • 250 meters tall
  • Also known as the Ziggurat of Mesilim, this is an imposing structure, made of 4 colossal slabs of progressively smaller pieces of carved and polished granite. These giant slabs are stacked on top of each other to form a step pyramid, and two great staircases, also carved out of solid pieces of granite, are used to access the top of the first layer. The entrance to the tomb starts in the fourth slab. Twisting passageways are carved into each slab going all the way to ground level where the ancient king is buried.

"Despite being the oldest tomb on the entire world of Vreathe at almost half a million years old, it is still remarkably well preserved! The relief carvings on some of the walls are worn away with time, but the story of this great king can still be seen, telling of how he led the Olimians through the twisting branches of Meliheal before they found the portal to Vreathe."

    2) Tomb of King Rimush, The philosopher

  • 320 meters tall
  • The ziggurat of the second king of the Olimians is made of much smaller pieces of interlocking granite compared to Mesilim's single large pieces. The entrance to his tomb is somewhat of a mystery as the interlocking pieces seem to change position with certain celestial events and no one knows what specific event will cause the tomb to open.

    7) Tomb of King Ishme, The Erased

  • 390 meters tall
  • The ziggurat of the seventh king of the Olimians is similar to that of Mesilim's tomb and was made of gigantic single pieces of granity. Then king ishme offended the gods and the elder god Alon responded by removing Ishme from this plane of existence. the next ruler of the Olimians, King Sabium, appeased the gods by tearing down Ishme's still uncompleted tomb Old large pieces of rubble stay beind as well as a small stone block with a gold relief image of why this temple was destroyed.

    3) Tomb of King Ibate, The Engineer

  • 335 meters tall
  • The pyramid of the third king is almost completely eroded away. It was thought to originally be a step pyramid constructed out of metal. Sandstone blocks formed most of the structure with an outer covering of Nickel, giving it a darkened slightly yellow appearance. There are scrolls left behind that told of a small army of people who cleaned and oiled the structure every century or so to prevent corrosion, but since the silver age cataclysm, that stopped.

    9) Tomb of King Magir, The Divider

  • 485 meters tall
  • The ziggurat of Magir is almost completely destroyed. It was built in a similar manner as King Rimush and has thousands of interlocking pieces of granite, but the judgement of one of the gods blew it to pieces. In the palce of this temple are thousands of strangely shaped granite blocks and relief carvings that make no sense unless assembled.

    Tomb of King Vernador I

When Vernador I died, a single seed from Meliheal was planted here. Usually these saplings turn into normal trees and die after a century or two, but this seed did turn into a proper sapling of Meliheal. the tree has been growing for over two thousand years and is now over 300 meters tall. It is also linked with Meliheal through the roots and is an extension of the world tree.

Vernador's Tomb is a 100 meter tall white tower made of granite and concrete. Various marbles from across Cassel and the rest of Vreathe line the walls of the tower. At the base of the tower is a large monastery. Some of the most devout monks of the The Church of Saint Nora are in this temple.

Attached to the temple is a sanctuary that only the Vernadors are allowed to enter. The doors magically seal themselves to prevent anyone else from entering. Inside this room is a fountain with pure water mixed with the blood of Saint Nora (a type of aethercite crystal created from Saint Nora when she was still an Elder Goddess).

Newborn Vernadors of the royal family are taken here and dipped in the fountain. In this way, they are closer to Saint Nora and the World Tree than others. Vernadors that undertake this baptism are the ones who have special abilities derived from Saint Nora such as the ability to speak to the dead and enter the wellspring of souls by touching the world tree. Usually the Ruler's children all undertake the ritual. Whichever one becomes king of Cassel will then do the ritual to their children.

The abilities gained are another way to determine who is a worthy King or queen of Cassel. There is an unbroken line of Vernadors going back thousands of years who each dipped their child in the fountain.
"If you want any proof that the Iron Race of humans are perfectly capable of building great structures, this tomb is a perfect example! There are a few subtle cracks on the walls from the foundation settling, but that's about it! The relief carvings run around the bottom floor of the tower and are in near perfect condition, though the paint is worn away."
    - Lidia
