Aldarra is a barony located in the north central area of the Duchy of Fairden. It is bordered on the west by Canillo, the south by Marsan and the east by Orthez. It is bordered to the north by the Red Towers and the Elf Kingdom of Lyonne, specifcially Ardens. The Somber River begins here, somewhere in the northern edge of the province in the Sylvan Uplands.

The land is Oceanic in the east and quite temperate, while the west is continental and can be rather snowy in the winter. Most of the land is covered in thick pine forests. While some farmland exists the soil is not the greatest for it. Instead the pine trees are grown and harvested for a large variety of different products, from paper to construction boards, to turpentine and rosin. Most of this is shipped into the Barony of Marsan to be processed into a larger variety of products

There are areas of old-growth forests in the region that have absorbed a large amount of Aether. These trees produce wood of an excellent quality. Elves have for thousands of years been using these trees to create staves, wands, and foci that have an affinity for Water, Ice, Wind, and Earth magics.

The rosin harvested from these trees are used by fighters, rubbed on portions of their armor. When combined with Iron and leather's natural resistances to magic, the rosin makes them more or less immune to magic for a time, until the resin runs out of aether, in which case, it rapidly heats up and burns away creating smoke with the smell of pine.

The capital city of Aldarra is a town named Confierre. It has been processing the trees in the surrounding area for over a thousand years. In the last hundred years, multiple large factories have been built to process the pine trees on an industrial scale. Several elven and orc naturalists have raised concern that some day all the trees in Aldarra will disappear and the land will turn into a semiarid desert.

In the past, King Brenon of North Cassel heard these concerns and slightly pulled back on the industrial revolution that was starting to ramp up in his nation. He also gave the naturalists funding to plant more trees. After his death and with the country being mostly ungoverned, Edgar ordered the construction of even more factories. He then kicked the naturalists out, forcing them to Canillo.
