Exotia

The Realm of Exotia

The realm of Exotia lies in the easternmost part of Vitallia. It’s a huge continent rich in nature, dense forests, tall mountains, and vast acres of uncharted land. The elves were led to Exotia by Laira, an Amar, who died when her people stepped on the white shores of the continent.

Campaigning in Exotia

The lands of Exotia are vast and filled with secrets. Cities are built at a great distance from each other, requiring days of traveling through the wilderness. Woodland creatures roam the realm, and survival skills are a necessity in such areas with strange and often lethal vegetation and phenomena.

The People of Exotia

Exotian people consist mostly of Elves. Fays also inhabit the realm but their wild nature prevents them from building settlements and so, they live in the wild in small packs, much like animals. Exotians barely mingle with other civilizations but are open to trade. They seldom travel outside their realm as the troubles of the world outside their borders barely concern them.

Inner & Outer Conflicts

Exotia is a realm with a different constitution than most kingdoms. The Elves, as creatures of empathy, seldom engage in conflicts among their kin and their realm’s remote location disheartens ambitious attackers from distant lands. However, history has shown that numerous attacks have taken place in Exotia, and some of them shaped the history of Vitallia. In times of relative peace, however, Exotia’s conflicts are limited to raiders that sail from afar, looking to claim the riches of the realm.

The Dangers of Exotia

Exotia’s dangers lie in her secrets. The very nature of the realm can be lethal to those who do not know how to travel and survive in the wild. There are monsters in Vitallia that do not exist anywhere else due to the unique climate of the realm. The forces of Nature are amplified, and one must know how to read the signs to survive.

Exotian Customs

  • A Great Elder is elected by a Circle of Elders to rule the realm.
  • The Great Elder allocates Eldermen to run settlements and each Elderman is supported by members of their bloodline.
  • A Circle of Elders is a council that consists of elven elders that “naturally” arise to rule. The council is formed without a specific process but is chosen by the collective instinct of the Exotian people.
  • All Exotians learn how to play music and fight with bows and spears from a very young age.
  • Exotians worship the First Phoenix, the Sentinel, and often other Amar, children of the Sentinel that are considered lesser Deities and remain unknown to the rest of the world.
  • Exotian settlements do not function as most other cities. People are not restricted to a specific trade but work daily according to their desire and instinct in a variety of crafts and other domains. Stores and specialties do not exist.
  • Exotian economy is based on the exchange of items or work and not gold or other currencies.
  • Dead bodies are burned to be reincarnated.
