The Republic of Sadrove
The Republic of Sadrove was the former government of Sadrove from 1590 to 1914 SE, from the days following the Sadrove War of Independence until the drafting of the Sadrove Constitution. The republic was established by former Landren nobility that funded the war of independance, who wanted a more efficient, federalized system of governance but didn't trust the people to democratic representation. The Democratic Republic of Sadrove
Sadrove is currently a constitutional democratic republic with a president as its head of state. The Sadrove Senate is elected every three years with fifty one seats to fill (seats may be added or removed as their territory expands or retreats, but it is always an odd number). Their president is elected independantly from their senate in six year terms, and thus can be from any political party or even an independant. However, the vice president and Grand Judicia (the head of their supreme court) are appointed in a parlimentary system by the party leader of the senate majority party, meaning a president could have three seperate vice presidents in a single term if the senate keeps switching majorities.Geography
Sadrove is a superpeninsula surrounded by the Crescent Sea to its north east and the Reach Ocean to its west. The land of Sadrove is fertile forest and jungle with a tropical climate and extreme temperature fluctuations during winter.Major settlements
Colwale
Colwale is the large peninsula in the north of Sadrove, bordering Keth with only a small bridge of land connecting it to the rest of Sadrove. Colwale is a majority Auklan both ethnically and culturally, and it's sparsely populated due to its rocky terrain and scarsity of fresh water, but it's rich in Aether, with some of the largest deposits outside of the Forgelands. Its geological and cultural issolation from the rest of Sadrove makes it semi-autonamous.History
Colonial Era
"For an example of Landren's unfathomable power, wealth, and influence, look no further than what was built so quickly in Sadrove..."Sadrove began as what would now be called a colony of Landren, though at the time, colonialism was an unexplored concept. In 1421 SE, Queen Isabel sent over a thousand men and women, including twelve members of the extended royal bloodline, in a fleet of ships over the Crecsent Sea to the land that is now Sadrove. Their goal was to establish a "sister kingdom" across the sea, which could extract wealth from the tribes of T'Ched. During this era, from 1421 to 1582, Sadrove acted as a pseudo-duchy of Landren, it maintained a royal line decended from the original nobility that colonized the area, but it was never granted permission to establish a kingship. After Queen Isabel's death, the monarchs of Landren changed their plans for Sadrove and wanted to maintain stronger control of the territory by treating it as part of Landren's empire rather than a second kingdom as Isabel originally envisioned. The colonists formed an independant government in 1582, with the Pact of Colwale, but they were initially thought of as a provisional government of Landren until the war of independance in 1587.Morlan Han, Estarian historian
Independence and Republic Period
"...and for an example of Landren's inability to weild that power, you need not turn your gaze from Sadrove."(Main article: Sadrove War of Independence) Following the Pact of Colwale, Sadrove loyalists, with the aid of Estarian mercenaries, entered a surprisingly bloodless three-year war with Landren for independance. Due to a combination of factors including logistical failings, Landren underestimating the size of Sadrove's forces, and outside pressure from Sura Pel, Landren surrendered Sadrove to its new government with relative ease, and it has been an independant state ever since.Morlan Han, Estarian historian
