Roleplay Resource: Monologs of Sadrove
Redress of Concerns
(A letter of indignity directed from Sadrovian Count Enric van der Sandril toward the Estarian Council of Southern Affairs.)
Dearest representatives of Estaria,
This letter arrives, doubtless, amid the throes of not-inconsiderable opprobrium surrounding the abrogation of the second Southern Gap Watch–an issue which, pressing though it may be, is certainly evinced in surfeit by now. I will not aver further the cases by which such indemnity lies–but write instead with respect to circumstances hitherto unbespoken.
We of Sadrove writ large and I, myself, and the peoples of Sandril in specific bear a vociferous fear towards the increasingly slapdash appropriation of troops which march in reply to these “tribal raids” impinging upon our–and your–borders. It is a circumstance well-appointed that Sadrove should find Estaria’s graces so munificent, particularly given the travails harrying the peoples of the South for some hundred-odd years. The continued dedication and benefit of concerted efforts on the part of Estarian traders and joint-patrols has proven a boon ineffable to the peoples of Sadrove.
It is, however, a boon of opportunity, one which is increasingly being harried by perfidy beyond Sadrove alone’s capacity to redress. It is the sincerest concern of myself, my land, and (to speak contritely,) his Majesty that these tribal intercessions are first and foremost territorial grabs by Keth–with evidence in surfeit–and that fairest Estaria, its reaches fecund and groves verdant, does not surmise in full the peril presented thereof. The melange of whisperings surrounding the Baron Keth’s recent sojourn to Solgrad evince not a single concession which has been discussed surrounding these incursions, and we fear that the continued question of Keth aggression directed not merely toward the peoples of Sadrove, but yours as well, will continue to be apprehended as little more than fractious actions of banditry.
Doubtless, the peoples of Solgrad are as familiar as we–so spurned by the blade of the tribes–that the Keth are of dispositions byzantine as they are backward. It is a polity self-sundering in its conceptions, one that bears little respect for the borders Solgrad and Sadrove alike have spent hundreds of years surmising. They know nothing of station–let alone titles well-bequeathed–and to surmise their inklings a momentary passion-play is to, we fear, foster further rancor and embolden their ambitions northward.
It is hoped that this letter receives well the wonted ears of the Council, Count Enric van der Sandril
