Vildrel's world has a long and storied history. Many civilizations record time in different ways, but the most commonly applied system of counting years, and the one these articles will use, is the Atovist calendar and dating system, which is split into two eras. The Age of Form, and the Age of Work.
The Age of Form
The Age of Form is the name given to the ancient era of man, when the gods of
The Atovist Pantheon were still alive. The ruins that dot the lands of Vildrel come from this age, and their stories are long forgotten. This age ended in the
Creationist Cataclysm.
Years in the Age of Form are recorded as
Veilo Excudan (preceding death), abbreviated to VE, and are counted backwards.
The Age of Work
The Age of Work is the name given to the modern era of
Mankind in
Atovist societies. Though the name has become so universal that its use has spread outside of Atovist communities. It is a reference to the time of penance man must suffer following the death of the gods.
Years in the Age of Work are recorded as Sevilo Excudan (after death), abbreviated to SE. The current year is 2167 SE.
