Lapirus Settlement in Valayo | World Anvil

Lapirus

A cold, dreary place with no visitors and little entertainment, but my husband says he wouldn't live anywhere else. I suppose the quiet is nice though.
Despite the rough, frigid environment, Lapirus is a fairly large mountain town, as it acts as a hub for the many surrounding mines and mining outposts.

Industry & Trade

Mining is a vital industry for Lapirus as well as for Necros. Many of the town businesses cater to the mines in some capacity. Warehouses, refineries, jewelers, and exporting businesses abound.   Gems are sorted, graded, and polished before being sent to Shivano City and other towns of Necros or to be exported as trade. Precious metals and other metals are refined and prepared as ingots or other forms before being sent to Necrosi towns and beyond.
Their most vital product is the lifestone, a black and green crystal stone used in the lifestone ritual to store life and magic energies to be later used by a necromancer or witch.   Another major product is the bloodstone, also used to store magic energy for later use, though these have less capacity than the lifestones.

Geography

Located in the Furhan Mountains, Lapirus is settled in a valley, with steep mountains surrounding all sides.   The terrain here is rugged, particularly leading into the various mines and outposts. The largest, trade route connects directly to the capital city.

Natural Resources

In addition to the gems, metals, and other mining products, Lapirusians hunt wild Furhan goats for their meat and wool, which is extremely warm and marketable to the colder regions of Necros and Rhovan.   The horns of the Furhan goat are used for carving trinkets, beads, and other jewelry.   Stone is also quarried for use in construction of homes and buildings.

Alpine Cat

The alpine cat is a fierce predator of the northern mountains, including the Furhan Mountain range of Necros.   They generally do not bother the miners nor approach the mines. Nevertheless, miners are encouraged to remain in groups and never stray too far from the mines.
