Sin
An ancient organisation of evil. Dark alliances to subjugate mortals across most of Great Sond.
Formed an unknown length of time prior to the great calamity, Sin was an organisation of evil beings spread throughout the northern reaches of Great Sond. Fiends, hags, bandits and warlords rubbed shoulders with chromatic dragons, undead and creatures from the elemental planes. It was unknown who truly pulled the strings, but it appeared that through trade and mutual respect, enough common ground existed to allow the network of evil creatures to function without destroying itself. While this organisation no longer exists, prior members who have survived to the present day are at the heart of evil plots throughout Geganna.
Structure
Sin contained several child organisations within its structure, the upper echelons a shadowy secret. A few major groups are listed as examples:
- The Black Hand - a large-scale bandit organisation who ransacked small settlements and performed major racketeering schemes across northern Great Sond.
- The Eye and the Needle - a network of hags who relished causing misery by inserting themselves on the periphery of society. Night hags captured souls for trade with other groups.
- Hell's Teeth - a small group of devils who represented the hells and their interests.
Culture
Sin viewed the world as a source of wealth, power and enjoyment. However, it also viewed temperance as important - destroying society would simply remove the source of what the organisation coveted. Bargains and trading were valued highly and were the primary method of progress within the organisation.
Betrayals were inevitable and expected. While not forbidden, they were usually met with swift retribution, especially if they involved the upper echelons of Sin. It was rumoured that several adventuring parties were funded long term and gently directed towards conflict with creatures who had come at odds with Sin, unknowning that their quests were directly aiding an evil organisation.
Assets
It was unknown how much wealth and how many holdings Sin had. However, it can be assumed that they secretly controlled much of the value in northern Great Sond. After the great calamity, when Sin faded away, much of the organisation's wealth and treasure was left within secret vaults, lost to this day.
History
Sin operated for hundreds of years due to the immortality of many of its members. It's founding was lost to the mists of time but educated guesses imply that it was probably formed as a tentative agreement between several evil organisations.
After the great calamity, civilisation was reduced to the point where it could no longer support such a large, evil parasitic organisation. Much of the upper echelons moved on to greener pastures find wealth and power elsewhere, leaving fragmented child organisations to fight amongst themselves. These subgroups moved around what was now Geganna and either faded into obscurity or laid the groundwork for descendent organisations.
Disbandment
Sin was never formally disbanded, but it was believed that it took roughly twenty years after the great calamity for enough members to have either moved on or expired to cause the structure to fall apart.
